Black & White & Blue Sympathy

A friend of mine was kind enough to send me a bunch of paper she didn't want and I've been having a great time using it on cards!  I really like the look of this black and white patterned paper and PTI's Spring Rain together, so decided to use it for a sympathy card.  The sentiment is from PTI's With Sympathy stamp set and the butterfly is Martha Stewart.

Baseball 18th Birthday

My friend asked me to make a sports themed card for her grandson's 18th birthday.  This gave me a chance to use PTI's new Just The Ticket stamp set.....don't these tickets look like I bought them? (I know I'm going to use this set a lot!) The card base is white, with a layer of red and blue and then I added the striped paper down the middle.  I cut the 18 with the Cricut; the banner and "Nicky" were made with Sizzix dies.  The baseball items - balls, glove, bat and hat are Jolee's stickers.  The tickets and a just a bit of twine finish the card off!

Rose Birthday

This card is for my godmother, her name is Rose and I always try to send her something rose related.  The card base is PTI Vintage Cream, topped with a piece of patterned paper (origin unknown).  I used PTI's Year of Flowers:  Roses; I stamped the rose on patterned paper, outlined it with a Copic marker, cut it out and edged it with glitter.  I did the same for the leaves; stamped them on Spring Moss paper and outlined them with a Copic.  I added the sentiment, Vintage Cream ribbon, a Martha stewart butterly punch and a couple of crystals.

Larkspurs Belated Birthday

This is my favorite time of month when I get to use my new PTI stamps!  I'm embarrassed to admit I forgot my friend's birthday last week so made her this "belated" card.  This is a new stamp set called Year of Flowers:  Larkspurs.  I used Plum Pudding for the card base and topped it with Kraft.  I stamped the flower image and used a q-tip technique I learned from Nichole on PTI.  This was fun to make and I thought I'd post the entire step by step process.

Step 1:  I stamped the image and colored the stems/leaves with Copic colors YG93 and YG95.

Step 2:  Using a q-tip, I rubbed a light purple (VersaMagic Spring Pansy) ink over the flowers.

Step 3:  Next,  I rubbed a darker purple (Brilliance Pearlescent Purple) ink on top of the lighter purple.

Step 4:  I outlined the entire image with white (Brilliance Moonlight White) ink and then smudged all of the colors together to give it a softer look.

Step 5:  I put clear glitter on the edges of the flowers and added a sheer purple ribbon.

Christmas in July

I don't normally do anything for Christmas in July, but it does make me think of colder weather, and that's something I'd like right now!  This is another House Mouse stamp called "Tumble Wreath".  I used some pretty holly patterned paper, colored the image with Copics, added a little glitter on the wreath, cut it out with deckled rectangle nestabilities and added the ribbon.  Only 5 months until Christmas!!

Piece of Cake!

I try to use stamp sets I haven't used for a while and PTI's Piece of Cake is one of them.  This is a white card base topped with a piece of Hibiscus Burst, embossed with PTI's linen template.  I stamped the cake on white, cut out with Large Labels nestabilities, stamped the sentiment and added crystal flowers.  The card looked too plain so I added the black corners; the black makes the "happy birthday" pop and looks great with the hibiscus.  Happy Birthday Ann Marie!

100th Birthday!

My mom asked me to make a card for a woman she plays bridge with that is turning 100!!!  What an amazing milestone!  She wanted something that related to cards.  The card base is white, with layers of red and black.  The card suits and sentiment were made on the computer, and I bought little playing cards at Joanns and formed them into playing hands.  The card still needed something so I added the polka dot red ribbon.

Birthday Train

Today is my uncle's birthday and he's a real train buff; I thought he would get a kick out of this card, even though it's a little on the "young" side.  The card base is white with a layer of train patterned paper from a DCWV stack.  I cut the train and caboose on the Cricut, added the "steam" (cloud dies!) with the sentiment and photo corners.

Baby, Baby, Baby, Baby!

I borrowed these baby stamps from a friend - aren't they just adorable?  They are from Stampin' Up and I had a lot of fun deciding which ones to use (there are a total of 8 images).  The card base is white and then I added layers of solid pink and pink polka dot.  The images are colored with Copics, cut with regular and scalloped square nesties; the sentiment is from PTI's Signature Greetings.  I started out with plans to just make a "girl" card and liked the way it turned out so much made a "boy" card too.

Teddy Get Well

This is a stamp by Stampavie called "Teddy Get Well" and my first time to buy this stamp brand (but not my last!).  The cardbase is white topped, with a layer of pale yellow patterned paper.  I stamped the image and colored it with Copics and cut it out with Deckled Rectangle nestabilities.  I added blue corner punches from a new sizzlet I just bought.  The stamp is so cute!

You Know You're Old When...

I had this Gina K Designs stamp set for a while and thought it was time to get them out again.  The card base is white, topped by a piece of blue, chocolate and then patterned (this patterned paper is one I thought I'd never use, but I like it on this card!)  The stamp is colored with Copics and mounted on 2 circle nesties and I added a couple of crystals in the corner.  The inside of the card says "getting lucky means you found your car in the parking lot".

Money Band

My friend asked me to make her a band to wrap around a pack of 60 dollars that she's giving as a birthday gift.  I cut Raspberry Fizz and black circles with nesties and paper pierced the scallops.  The "60" is a cuttlebug font, the "birthday wishes" from Papertrey and then I added a couple of crystal flowers.  What a nice gift to get!

Thinking of You

One of the ladies who works at Michael's is about to undergo chemo treatment so I wanted to make her a card to let her know she's in my thoughts.  I love this color combo - PTI's Hawaiian Shores and white!  I started with a white cardbase and topped it with a piece of Hawaiian Shores and then here come the layers.....white, polka dot HS, scalloped and paper pierced white, HS circle, and finally the flower (from In Bloom) stamped and colored with Copics.  For embellishments I added the ribbon and tear drops in the corners.

Rosebud Sympathy

I felt like making a sympathy card for a change; I think this card is simple, yet elegant.  The cardbase is white, topped with a layer of patterned black.  I made 2 rectangles with nesties and paper pierced the scalloped one.  I stamped 2 rosebuds from PTI's Year of Flowers:  Roses, colored them with Copics and then glittered them.  The "with sympathy" sentiment is from the 2009 PTI anniversary set.

Hug Coupon

I made this for a friend of mine who just lost his job.  I started with a navy blue cardstock for the base and layered it with white cardstock and blue patterned paper.  The hug stamp and sentiment are Studio G $1 stamps, added photo corners (I really like using them!) and a little twine.  The card is cute but still on the masculine side.

Happy Mimosa

I just thought this little girl was so cute when I saw her!  This is "Happy Mimosa" from Bildmalarna stamps.   The card base is pink with a layer of patterned; Mimosa is colored with Copics and mounted on rectangle nestabilities.  I paper pierced the scallops, added a Martha Stewart border, flower crystals and ribbon.

Zooey!

My friends just got a new puppy, a Papillion named Zooey.  I saw this doggie paper while I was in Joanns so decided to make them a card to congratulate them on their new "arrival".  The card base is white, they layered with black and the doggie patterned paper.  I cut the circles using pinking nestabilities, the dog stamp is Inkadinkadoo, I added a jeweled pink collar, photo corners and ribbon.

Quilled Flowers

This is another card we did at craft group last week.  Quilling is everywhere now and I wanted to try it.  The background was made with an embossing folder and then lightly inked.  Next, we applied 4 layers of cardstock, and stamped leaves on the top layer.  We made the flowers by cutting circles and then rolling them up or "quilling".  This is tedious and takes patience.....um....I don't think I'll be doing it again!  lol  It was nice to try but it's not really my "thing".  Everything we used is from Stampin' Up.

Airplane Birthday

This is for a July 7th birthday, but I thought I'd post it today since it's red, white and blue.  I started with red cardstock and topped it with layers of white and blue, then another layer of red, a striped pattern paper, another layer of red and blue cloud paper (okay, that's 7 layers! lol).  The airplane is from PTI's Fly Away and colored with Copics; the banner and sentiment were made on the computer.  I cut the clouds out with dies and they are on 3d foamies for dimension.  Adding the stars gave it a patriotic feel.

Happy 4th of July!

Can you believe it's already July 4th?  I can't - the year is flying by!  I had this paper from a DCWV stack for a while so thought it would be nice to use it.  I started with navy blue cardstock, layered it with the patterned paper, and then layers of red, white and blue cardstock.  The balloons were made using PTI's Up, Up & Away stamp set and the matching balloon dies; the sentiment is from PTI's Vintage Picnic

40th Holiday Birthday

This card is for a July 4th birthday.  It's a "tri-fold" card; it started with a piece of 4 x 12 red cardstock folded into 3 sections.  The patriotic paper is from a DCWV stack, the squares are cut with nesties, the 40 and firecrackers were done on the Cricut, and the "happy birthday" is a sizzlet.  I printed out the sentiment on the computer.

Pansies Birthday

This is one of 3 cards we made at my craft group the other day.  The pansies were made by stamping the black center design onto cardstock and cut out with a butterfly punch.  We colored the butterflies with purple and yellow reinkers and put two of them together with a brad to create the pansy - how clever!  I sprayed my pansies with Glimmer Mist to give them a sparkly look.  The envelope is a die and the patterned background was made using an embossing folder, both from Stampin Up.

Happy Birthday Rose

This is another June release from PTI called Year of Flowers: Roses and I thought it was perfect for my friend Rose's birthday today.  I started with a piece of white cardstock and layered it with black.  Next I took pink plain cardstock and stamped it with vines to give it a "patterned" look.  I cut circles in the layers with nestabilities and lined the scalloped circle with pearls.  The rose is stamped onto a light pink patterned paper that I outlined with a Copic marker - with glitter around the edges.  The card still needed something so I added a white ribbon at the top.  Happy Birthday Roro!
