Happy Halloween

Hard to believe another year has gone by - it seems like I was just making Halloween cards for last year.

I wanted to make one more quick Halloween card and remembered I bought the Martha Stewart Drippy Goo punch last year on clearance at AC Moore - I think it was $2.00.  Can't pass up a bargain like that!

I used a black cardstock card base and added orange pattern paper on the top and solid orange cardstock on the bottom.  To cover up the seam, I placed the Drippy Goo border punched in black cardstock.

Happy Halloween is stamped in Versamark and heat embossed using black Zing embossing powder.  I tied ivory jute around the spine to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Halloween
  • Paper:  PTI True Black; Colorbok
  • Ink:  Versamark
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Border Punch; Heat Embossing Tool
  • Other:  Jute; Zing Embossing Powder

Halloween Doodad

My friend Jill sent me a box she made for Easter filled with jelly beans and I knew right then that I was going to use the same idea for Halloween.

To create the box, I used white cardstock purchased from Joanns - this cardstock is very sturdy and a good choice to make these boxes.  Using the scor-pal, I scored and folded the boxes.  Before putting them together, I cut pattern paper for all 4 sides, then adhered the box with scor-tape.

I stamped the sentiment on white rectangles die-cut with nestabilities and attached it to the box with foam tape.  I filled the boxes with assorted candy in a cellophane bag and tied it with ribbon.  At the last minute I decided to add Halloween twine around the bottom of the box.  I made 36 of these using assorted pattern papers.  The boxes were really quick and fun to make!

I can't believe I forgot to take pictures of the boxes so a special thanks to my mom for snapping pictures of them with her iPad!!

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Trick or Treat
  • Paper:  DCWV, Colorbox, The Paper Company
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Scor-pal; Standard Rectangle Nestabilities
  • Other: Twine; Ribbon; Cellophane Bags; Foam Tape; Candy

When Black Cats Prowl....

I don't know why I liked this stamp set so much, maybe it was the variety of cats that came with it.  But creeping, black cats certainly scream Halloween to me!

I started with a Kraft cardstock card base, rounding the corners and adding a strip of purple along the spine.  I die-cut the fence in Fine Linen cardstock and stamped the cat on top of it in black ink.  I stamped the cat in the pumpkin, adding the little spiders along side of it.  Instead of adding a standard "happy Halloween", I stamped a wordy sentiment in the corner.

The stars are heat embossed in white Zing to add a little texture to the card.  I tied Mandarin twine around the spine and added glitter to the cats and pumpkin to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Superstition, Mailbox Greetings
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Winter Wisteria, Fine Linen
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Tangelo, Grape Jelly; Versamark
  • Tools:  PTI Picket Fence Die; Heat Embossing Tool; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine; Zing Embossing Powder; Glitter

Sweet Baby

Just a quick baby card for today.  I'm still trying to use some of my older packs of paper and thought this would be cute for a baby card.

I placed the pattern paper on a white cardstock card base.  I die-cut two of the circle scribbles in solid cardstock to match the pattern paper and adhered them to the card, slightly overlapping them.

Baby is die-cut in Sweet Blush cardstock and placed on coaster for a little support.  "Sweet" is stamped above in black ink.  To finish the card I tied sheer white ribbon around the card in a bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Spring Moss, White Stampers Select; Brenda Walton Small Wonders Girl
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Circle Scribbles Die, Wonderful Words: Baby Die

It's October.....

When I saw PTI's Make It Monday #184 - Gold Dipped Die-cuts, I knew I would have to try this technique.  And of course I had to buy the Leaf Prints dies to do it!

I started with a Canyon Clay cardstock card base and added a layer of "Fall-ish" looking striped pattern paper.  Next, I die-cut the bookmark in Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped the sentiment on it in dark brown ink.  I wrapped thin gold cording around the top and adhered it to the card.

I die-cut the leaves in the same Canyon Clay cardstock, dipped the edges in Versamark ink, sprinkled them with gold Zing embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool.  I love watching the embossing powder turn shiny as it heats!  I placed the two leaves on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: October
  • Paper:  PTI Canyon Clay, Vintage Cream, Autumn Abundance
  • Ink:  PTI Dark Chocolate; Versamark
  • Tools:  PTI Leaf Prints Die, Basic Bookmark #3 Die
  • Other:  Zing; Foam Tape; Cording
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Trick or Treat

I wanted to use these cute ghosts again this year on a card.

I cut a layer of the spider pattern paper and placed it on a Royal Velvet cardstock card base.  Next, I cut a strip of black cardstock and stamped "trick or treat" on it in Versarmark ink.  I sprinkled it with white Zing embossing powder and heated it with my heat tool.  I layered the black on a piece of purple polka dot paper, since purple is Olivia's favorite color.

I die-cut the ghosts and added the three different faces.  The ghosts looked too white so I added a little Winter Wisteria ink around the edges to soften up the brightness.  I placed the ghosts on foam tape for dimension.

Olivia's name is die-cut in Simply Chartreuse cardstock.  For fun, I added orange glittery eyelash around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Trick Or Treat, Happy Haunting
  • Paper:  PTI Royal Velvet, White Stampers Select, True Black, Simply Chartreuse; Colorbok
  • Ink:  PTI Winter Wisteria; Versamark; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Happy Haunting Die; Memory Box Alphabet Soup Die
  • Other:  Zing Embossing Powder; Foam Tape, Martha Stewart Topaz Glitter Eyelash; Heat Tool
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

You Are Always (CAS #28)

This is a card I made when my creative juices weren't really flowing.  Just something simple that didn't take much thought, other than determining which ink colors to use.

I used the striped stamp from the Be Happy stamp set and stamped it in five different colors of ink.  The sentiment is stamped in black ink directly over the top stripe.

I trimmed the panel down a bit so the Lemon Tart cardstock card base would show on either side of it.  I added a few gold sequins and the card was done.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Be Happy, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; Memento Rosebud, Morocco, Tangelo, Cantaloupe, Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Sequins
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Halloween

I see things you can make with the Stampin' Up Owl punch all the time and like to try some of the various "creatures" you can make with it, including this bat.  Isn't it cute?

I found this grayish purplish textured paper from a DCWV stack that I bought a long time ago.  It was perfect to use as an eerie background for this card.  I die-cut the stitched circle, stamped "Happy Halloween" on it and adhered it to the card.

The branch is die-cut in black cardstock using the Memory Box Woodland Branch.  I cut the body of the bat in black cardstock  and made the wings by cutting the Pippi Butterfly in half.  I can't take credit for that clever idea, I read it on Pinterest!  I used googly eyes to make the card a little more fun looking and placed the bat on foam tape.

I die-cut Will's name in purple cardstock and tied Lilac twine around the bottom of the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Superstition
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, Plum Pudding, White Stampers Select; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Stampin Up Two Step Own Punch; Memory Box Woodland Branch Die, Pippi Butterfly Die, Alphabet Soup Die; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Circle Die

Sending You Heartfelt Sympathy

This is another card that uses a pattern paper background - and is from of one of my "older" packs of paper.

The paper is double-sided, one side is a very light purple and white floral design, the other a solid light purple.  I layered the pattern paper on a white cardstock card base, rounding the right hand corners.  The butterflies are die-cut from the solid side of the paper.

I cut a strip of the solid purple and stamped the sentiment in black.  Sheer ribbon is tied around the spine to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Words of Comfort
  • Paper:  K & Company Wedding Collection
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Memory Box Rhone Butterfly Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Ribbon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Trick or Treat

It won't be long now and Halloween will be here.  Even though this isn't one of my favorite holidays, I've been busy making cards.

I used my new Text Block Halloween die for this - I saw that one of the PTI Design Team members did her card this way and I thought it was really cute and copied the idea.  I cut the background in black cardstock and then cut the wording in orange polka dot and purple papers, gluing them over the existing words.  The web is on a Soft Stone cardstock card base.

I stamped the spiders around the sides and colored them with light grey and purple Copics.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Treats: Halloween
  • Paper:  PTI Soft Stone; Amuse Polka Dot; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  T1, V15
  • Tools:  PTI Text Block Halloween Die

Happy Birthday

I really do like creating my own backgrounds when stamping -- this card was inspired by the colors in PTI's July Color Play.

I used the Embellished Elegance stamp set for this card.  On white cardstock, using a piece of tape, I masked the area where I wanted to place the sentiment.  I stamped the pattern, using the above colors to completely cover the panel.  When I was finished stamping the flowers, I removed the tape and stamped the sentiment.

The panel is layered on a Terracotta Tile cardstock card base.  I tied white sheer ribbon around the bottom of the card to complete it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Embellished Elegance, Think Big Favorites #13
  • Paper:  PTI Terracotta Tile, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, New Leaf; Memento Pear Tart, Morocco, Cantaloupe, Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Ribbon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Birthday Wishes

I'm still trying to use up some of my pattern packs of paper.

I placed the green paper on a white cardstock card base, rounding the right hand bottom corner.  I die-cut the scalloped oval in Lemon Tart cardstock and added a layer of Vintage Cream, stamped with the sentiment.  The ovals are on foam tape.

The bottom layer of the butterfly is die-cut in Vintage Cream cardstock and the top layer in Lemon Tart.  To finish the card, I tied Buttercream twine around it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, Vintage Cream; Brenda Walton Small Wonders
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Tools:  PTI Limitless Layers: Ovals Die; Memory Box Pippi Butterfly Die, Isabella Butterfly Die; Corner Rounder

Celebrate

I wanted to use my mesh stencil and a watercolor technique on a card.

I placed the stencil on top of a piece of white cardstock, taping it down so it wouldn't move.  Using a dauber, I used three different ink colors to fill in most of the mesh.  Once it was completed, I lightly spritzed the stencil with water.

Celebrate is stamped in black ink.  I added a couple of stitched stars and adhered the panel to a Tropical Teal cardstock card base.  I need to use this color more often because it's really pretty!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #13
  • Paper:  PTI Tropical Teal, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters, Evergreen Bough; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Stars Die
  • Other:  Memory Box Textured Mesh Stencil
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

So Sorry For Your Loss

I think I mentioned before that I really like this color combination - Aqua Mist and Teal Zeal.

Using these two colors and a 2 step stamp method, I stamped the flowers in the blues, adding Spring Moss ink for the flower centers and leaves.  The sentiment is stamped in Teal Zeal ink.

I rounded the right hand corners and added glitter to the flowers to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Words Of Comfort, Mum's The Word
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Spring Moss; Memento Teal Zeal

Enjoy

Happy October!  I can't believe I just wrote that....it's so hard to believe it's October!  But I'm ready for crisp, Fall weather!

This card uses two of my favorite things - the Pippi Butterfly and Wet Paint Cut dies.  I started with a card base of Hibiscus Burst and added a layer of pink and navy blue pattern paper for the bottom and white cardstock for the top.

I die-cut "enjoy" in Enchanted Evening cardstock and stamped the rest of the sentiment underneath it in coordinating ink.  The butterfly is die-cut twice - once in Raspberry Fizz for the base and once in Enchanted Evening for the lacy layer.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wet Paint III
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Enchanted Evening, Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select; DCWV The Countdown Stack
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening
  • Tools:  PTI Wet Paint Cut Die; Memory Box Pippi Butterfly Die, Isabella Butterfly Die
