Thank You

I had a hard time taking a picture of this card....it really looks pretty in person!

I stamped the feather in Versamark ink on white cardstock, sprinkled it with white Zing embossing powder and melted it with my heat tool.  With a dauber, I rubbed turquoise ink over and around the feather for an emboss-resist look.

I layered the panel on black cardstock onto a Tropical Teal cardstock card base.  The sentiment is stamped  in black ink and I added white twine to the base of the feather.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Feather Finery, Communique Curves Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Tropical Teal, White Stampers Select, True Black
  • Ink:  Versamark; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem; Memento Tuxedo Black

Birthday Wishes

I hope I never tire of watercolor because there are so many things I want to try yet!

I was playing around with Stampin' Up watercolor crayons (Handsome Hunter, Orchid Opulence, Taken With Teal), brushing a variety of colors on a piece of watercolor paper.  When it was finished and dried, the watercolor pattern reminded me of the sky, and I knew I wanted to use hot air balloons, which would also mean pulling out my Up, Up & Away set I haven't used for a while.

I die-cut the three different balloons and stamped them with blue and purple inks.  I stamped the baskets in black ink and placed the balloons on thin foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment is stamped in blue ink on a banner die-cut.  The image is on a white cardstock card base.

I just bought a bunch of sequins at Joanns, and these iridescent ones seemed to be a good fit for the card.  I am so happy with the way this turned out - it's so pretty and soft looking.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Up, Up & Away
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Watercolor 140#
  • Ink:  Memento Teal Zeal, Tuxedo Black; Brilliance Pearlescent Purple, Pearlescent Sky Blue
  • Tools:  PTI Up, Up & Away Dies, Sketched Shapes Die

Thank You So Very Much

I keep trying to play with things I haven't used for a while and pulled out my Mat Stack 1 stamp set and die.   It's been a long time since I used these!

I used Spring Moss cardstock for the card base and added the hexagon die-cut on top, made from my Hexagon Cover Plate.  Next, I die-cut a Mat Stack 1 in white cardstock and stamped the design on it with Spring Moss ink.  I added the circle of Spring Moss cardstock to the middle and stamped it with the sentiment from Framed Out #1.

I tied Chalk White seam binding around the bottom in a bow to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mat Stack 1 Collection, Framed Out #1
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Moss; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Cover Plate: Hexagon Die, Mat Stack 1 Die; Standard Circle Nestability

With Sympathy

I've used this stamp set several times for sympathy cards - it's a perfect set for this type of card.

I started with a Blueberry Sky cardstock card base.  I die-cut the stitched rectangle using Vintage Cream cardstock.  The trees and sentiment are stamped in Versamark ink and sprinkled with Copper Zing embossing powder.  Using my heat tool, I embossed the Zing - it's too hard to see in the picture but they are a very pretty, shiny copper color.

To finish the card I tied Copper Shimmer twine around the spine.  Everything is copper coordinated! lol

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Botanical Silhouettes; Stampin' Up Lovely As A Tree
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  Versamark
  • Tools:  Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles

Summertime Fun

I have another new favorite stamp set - Summer Sweetness!  It has 3 different types of popsicles and a variety of sentiments for all types of occasions!

I stamped the popsicles in four different ink colors - Rosebud, Tangelo, Harvest Gold and Pear Tart.  These colors just reminded me of all the delicious flavors that popsicles come in!  I stamped the popsicle sticks and added some "drips", because there's nothing more refreshing than a cold treat on a hot day!

The sentiment, which is the new June monthly stamp, is stamped in black ink directly on top of the popsicles.  On a separate piece of paper, I stamped "that" in Rosebud ink, cut it out and placed it on a piece of thin foam tape on top of the star-burst to add additional color.  I got this idea from the PTI Design Team who did this same thing on a couple of the cards they made.

To finish the card, I rounded just the bottom right hand corner and added coarse glitter to the popsicles to make them look icy.  Love, love, love this set!!!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Summer Sweetness, Birthday Classics: June
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Harvest Gold; Memento Rosebud, Tangelo, Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Coarse Glitter

It's May - Time To Celebrate Your Birthday

I'm sneaking this one in under the wire - May is almost over.  Seems like it went by fast!

I used Bristol paper this time.  Bristol is good if you just want to do a light watercolor wash, not something that will be heavily wet.  I wet the paper with a light water wash and used Crayola watercolor paints, mixing a pink color and an orange color.  I just randomly brushed the colors on the paper until I liked the look of it.

After the paint dried, I stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I adhered the image onto a Hibiscus Burst cardstock card base, placing the image over to the right to leave a nice edge on the left and bottom.  I added a few gold sequins to make it a bit more festive.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: May
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst; Bristol Smooth 100 lb.
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Crayola Watercolor Paint; Sequins
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey May Blog Hop Challenge

This month's PTI Blog Hop challenge is to use aqua and melon colors.  These are two colors I wouldn't think of putting together, but I'll be using them more often because I really like them!

I wanted to use my new Circle Scribbles dies - I'm so happy PTI came out with these matching dies!  I die-cut the scribbles in Aqua Mist and Melon Berry cardstock and adhered them to a piece of Rustic White cardstock.

For the sentiment, I used Building Blocks dies and die-cut three of them in Rustic White, since I knew I wanted to split the sentiment into three lines.  I stamped each of the words in black ink and placed the blocks on thin foam tape for dimension.  The entire image is on an Aqua Mist cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: June, Be Happy, It's A Celebration
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Melon Berry, Rustic White
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Circle Scribbles Dies, Building Blocks Dies
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

  • Stamps:  PTI Circle Scribbles, Keep It Simple: Birthday

  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Aqua Mist; Memento Cantaloupe, Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black

Happy Birthday

I really do love this Be Happy stamp set and dies!  At least I'm using it a lot and don't seem to be getting tired of it!!

I started with a white cardstock card base and cut a piece of Kraft cardstock for the middle.  Next, I cut the square in Raspberry Fizz cardstock and placed it toward the top.  I die-cut the butterfly from a few scraps of paper (never throw away scraps!) and placed it on foam tape.  I added the antennae in a scrap of black.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added the Hawaiian Shores scalloped border on top of it.  To complete the card, I added the button stack, cut in Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores felt, tied together with white twine.  I'm so happy with the colors and design of this card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Be Happy, Keep It Simple: Birthday
  • Paper:  White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, True Black, Simple Chartreuse, Kraft, 2008 Bitty Box Basics

Congratulations On Your New Baby Girl

I found this alphabet paper when I was looking for something else and thought it would make a cute baby card.

I cut the alphabet paper to fit an A2 size card.  Next, I stamped the "congratulations on your new" wording on a piece of white cardstock and cut it slighter larger than the wording.  I added "baby", cutting the letters in light pink cardstock and "girl", stamped in black ink.

I attached the white cardstock on a piece of darker pink cardstock, cut a light bigger than the white to leave an edge.  I tied Pink twine around it in a bow and layered it onto the alphabet paper.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wonderful Words:  Baby
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Recollections; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Block Alpha Lower Dies
  • Other:  Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Wishing You Well

I wanted to play around with emboss resist and thought I'd made a get well card with it.

I started with a piece of  white cardstock and stamped the flowers and leaves in Versamark ink.  Next, I sprinkled them with white Zing embossing powder and heat set them with my heat tool.  Using a dauber, I colored the flowers with Rhubarb Stalk ink and the leaves with Pearlescent Beige ink.  Notice I went outside the lines...that was intentional.  I rubbed off the excess ink on the embossing with a tissue.

I cut a 3/4" strip of vellum and stamped the sentiment in brown Stazon.  I wrapped the vellum behind the white cardstock and adhered it with Scor-tape.  I rounded the bottom corners and layered it on a Kraft cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI In Bloom, Think Big Favorites #7
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Rhubarb Stalk; Brilliance Pearlescent Beige; Stazon Timber Brown; Versamark
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  White Zing Embossing Powder; Heat Tool; Vellum; Scor-Tape; Dauber
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending You Belated Birthday Wishes

I wanted to try a new technique I learned from the online "Watercolor For Card Makers" class I took.  What a fabulous class!  I learned so much from the 30+ videos they provided....now I just have to find the time to play around with all the techniques!

This technique used watercolor and stencils.  I didn't have any stencils so I made my own from one of my Cover Plates.  I also bought Crayola Watercolor paints, you know, the ones that are for kids.  I got a tray of 16 different colors for about $3.00 with a 50% coupon at Michael's.  And the paint is pretty nice to use!

To make this design, I used 140 lb. watercolor paper.  I wet the paper with water and added a mix of light blue paint and a little bit of purple paint.  Next, I pressed the die-cut "stencil" made from the Hexagon Cover Plate into the wet watercolor.  I placed a few heavy items on top to help hold the "stencil" down until it dried.  Once dried, I adhered it to a white cardstock card base.

I die-cut the circle in watercolor paper, stamped the sentiment in black and placed it on foam tape.  The card looked like it needed something else so I added the jute.  I really like the way this turned out - the colors are nice and soft.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; 140 lb. Watercolor.
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Hexagon Cover Plate Die; Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Circles
  • Other:  Crayola Watercolor Paint; Jute; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

I Admire Your Strength....

Normally when I make get well cards I tend to make them more for women than men.  I wanted to make a more masculine card to have on hand just in case I need it.

I stamped the sentiment in dark blue ink onto a white cardstock rectangle and layered it on another rectangle made of Enchanted Evening cardstock.  I placed it on foam tape for dimension on the left side of a piece of white cardstock.

I just bought this roll of dark blue washi tape....I thought it matched the blue paper perfectly and didn't look too feminine.  I added a strip of it on the right side of the card to help fill it in.  The entire image was matted on an Enchanted Evening cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Inside & Out:  Well Wishes
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening
  • Tools:  Standard Rectangle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Washi Tape; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Thanks For Everything (CAS #15)

Here's another quick card using watercolor.....I'm so in love with watercolor techniques!!!!  I hope I get to make lots of watercolor cards before the trend goes out of style.  haha

Using Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves distress ink, I tapped the ink onto my craft sheet and added water to it.  I loaded up my brush with the ink and just swiped it back and forth quickly onto watercolor paper.

After it completely dried, I stamped the sentiment in black ink and matted the image on a True Black cardstock card base.  That's it!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wet Paint
  • Paper:  PTI True Black; Watercolor
  • Ink:  Tim Holtz Seedless Preserves Distress Ink; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Brush
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

True Love

The other day at crafts we were discussing gelatos and my friend pulled out her collection of Stampin' Up watercolor crayons which seem to be very similar.  She has a fabulous assortment of colors!

To make the background for this card, I selected Barely Banana, Only Orange and Rose Rouge crayons and scribbled them onto my craft sheet.  I wet my watercolor paper first with a bit of water and then mixed the crayons with more water, transferring the crayon to the watercolor paper.  I just kept playing around with it until I got the desired look.  I wanted something soft and spring like.

I rounded the corners of the background and adhered it to a white cardstock card base.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink onto a white rectangle.  To personalize the card, I added the number of years my friends have been married.  That's metallic thread I bunched together and placed behind the sentiment, which is on foam tape.  I keep seeing cards with thread on them and wanted to try it out.  Must be a new trend.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Inside & Out:  Love
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Watercolor
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Cantaloupe
  • Tools:  Standard Rectangle Nestabilities; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Stampin' Up Watercolor Crayons; Foam Tape; Metallic Thread

Congrats On Your New Home

I haven't made a new home card in quite a while and was looking through a paper pack and saw this cute patterned paper with the houses on it.  Perfect for a new home card, plus I haven't used this stamp set yet.

On a white cardstock card base, I placed a piece of the house paper on the top of the card and used a coordinating yellow polka dot paper on the bottom.  Don't you just love paper packs that have papers that match so you don't have to do any thinking?

To cover up where the two papers met, I die-cut a banner in Hawaiian Shores cardstock to help bring out the blue in the houses.  I stamped the sentiment in two inks, black and yellow and placed it on a Pure Poppy scalloped oval, on foam tape of course!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #10
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select; Doodlebug Design Day To Day
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Mango Madness
  • Tools:  PTI Be Happy Die, Limitless Labels: Oval Dies
  • Other:  Foam Tape

I'm So Grateful For You

I saw this color combination on Betsy Veldman's blog a couple of years ago and it was stuck in my head all this time so I thought I would use it for a Mother's Day card.

These are the flowers from Natural Beauties, I just love this stamp set!  For the orange flowers I stamped them twice, once with the solid image and again with the detailed stamp.  For the aqua flowers, I only stamped them with the solid stamp.  I added the Hibiscus Burst flowers and the leaves in green ink.  There are 11 different colors of ink on this card and I love the way it turned out.

I die-cut the center using the Celebrations frame.  I die-cut the frame again in Aqua Mist cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black ink.  I ran the frame through the Cuttlebug using the Linen Impression Plate to give it a little texture.  The frame is adhered to the card on foam tape and the entire image placed on a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base.

Each of the flower centers has a pearl made with Pearl Pen.  I added Cantaloupe twine around the spine and placed a heart stick pin through the bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Signature Greetings
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Enchanted Evening, Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel; Memento Cantaloupe, Tangelo, Morocco, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem, Tea Leaves
  • Tools:  PTI Celebrations Frame Die, Linen & Canvas Impression Plate Die
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape; White Ice Pearl Pen; Heart Stick Pin

A Good Life (CAS #14)

Posting lots of CAS cards this week!  I was looking through my stamps and wanted to use this sentiment and thought it would make an appropriate birthday card.

The striped paper is layered on a white cardstock card base.  I die-cut the circle in white cardstock using a stitched circle die and with a dauber, rubbed two different blue distress inks on it.  I stamped the sentiment right on top in black ink.

I placed the circle on foam tape and the card was done!  A good card for a man.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Happiness In Bloom
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Blueberry Stripes Pattern
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass Distress Ink

It's May - Time To Celebrate Your Birthday

This is the May birthday stamp set from Papertrey - I can't wait to collect all twelve of these!

For this card, I used the same technique from Make It Monday #159, "No-Sew Quilted Cards" (posted April 9, 2014).  I had a bunch of scraps from Raspberry Fizz that I cut into 1.5" squares and adhered to a white card base.  I ran the sheet through the Cuttlebug using my Twist Impression plate to give it the quilted look, and backed it with a piece of black cardstock onto a white card base.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink on white cardstock and layered it onto Raspberry Fizz.  I adhered the sentiment on foam tape.  To complete the card, I added white ribbon around the spine tied in a bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: May
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Raspberry Fizz Mix
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Happy Anniversary

There are a lot of uses for this heart impression plate....not just Valentine's Day....it makes a nice addition for an anniversary card.

I started with an Aqua Mist cardstock card base and used just three rows of the hearts from the Hearts Cover Plate, cut in Rustic White cardstock.  I die-cut the flowers and leaves from Ruby Rose and stamped them in pink and green inks, placing one flower on foam tape.  I added black centers and a little glitter.

The banner is die-cut from Sketched Shapes and stamped with the sentiment from Beautiful Butterflies.  I added a thin, light pink ribbon to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Ruby Reprise, Beautiful Butterflies, Reasons To Smile
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Rustic White
  • Ink:  Memento Rose Bud, Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black

Thank You (CAS #13)

I've been looking through my stamps trying to use those I haven't used for a while and came across this stamp set - Borders & Corners: Squares.  I don't remember the last time I used this one!

I cut a piece of white cardstock and stamped it with the squiggly square first and then the solid thank you square.  I repeated the process using different ink colors.  After I was done stamping, I ran the white cardstock through the Cuttlebug with my Linen & Canvas Impression Plate.

I rounded the corners and placed it on a Raspberry Fizz card base.  To complete the card I tied Marigold Twine around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Borders & Corners: Squares
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist; Memento Pear Tart, Cantaloupe, Rosebud; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem

Happy Birthday To You

This is another watercolor project I didn't like how it turned out, but instead of throwing it out, wanted to use a portion of it.

To create the watercolor background I used two different colors of Tim Holtz distress ink - Peacock Feathers and Shabby Shutters.  I tapped the ink onto my craft sheet, mixed it with water and brushed it over the watercolor paper.

For the sentiment I stamped it with Versamark ink, sprinkled it with white Zing embossing powder and heated it with a heat tool.  I found this scrap of black and white paper and placed it on a white card base, leaving a little of the white showing on the left and right sides.  I backed the teal square with a layer of black cardstock and adhered it to the pattern paper.  I really like this color combination!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Amuse Eat Cake
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Recollections; Watercolor; Colorbok
  • Ink:  Tim Holtz Peacock Feathers, Shabby Shutters Distress Ink; Versamark
  • Tools:  Standard Square Nestabilities; Heat Tool

It's A Boy/Girl (CAS #12)

These were very quick cards to make since I used pattern paper for the background.

I started with a white card base and added a layer of Spring Rain cardstock and a layer of boy pattern paper.  Using my Boutique Borders die, I die-cut the frame and stamped it with light blue ink for the background and black ink for the sentiment.

The frame is on foam tape for a little dimension.  To finish the card, I added a button above the sentiment and light blue twine around the bottom.

Of course I had to make one for a girl too!  Again, I started with a white card base, added a layer of Raspberry Fizz cardstock and the girl pattern paper.  The frame is stamped with pink and black ink and is on foam tape.  I added Pink Sorbet twine and rounded the bottom corners to make it a little more feminine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Boutique Borders: Congrats
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select; Hot Off The Press
  • Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue; Memento Rose Bud, Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Boutique Borders: Congrats Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape; Button
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Gratitude

I'm still making thank you cards.  I guess you can never have too many on hand!

I started with a white cardstock card base.  I cut another slightly smaller piece of white cardstock and cut a circle in the middle.  I die-cut a slightly smaller circle in pattern paper and adhered it on foam tape to the center of the card.  The butterfly is punched in Aqua Mist cardstock and placed on the card with two gems in the center.

The banner was made with my Stitched Pinked Edge Label die, which I haven't had a chance to use until now.  I stamped the sentiment in a medium grey ink and adhered it with foam tape.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist; DCWV
  • Ink:  Amuse Seattle
  • Tools:  PTI Stitched Pink Edge Label Die; Standard Circle Nestabilities; Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly Punch

Happy Birthday To You

Happy May!  Can you believe it's May already??  I can't - the last 2 months seem like they flew by!  For this card, I'm using Be Happy stamps again....they seem to help cheer me up when I need it.

I get tired of using the same colors all the time and pulled out a piece of Berry Sorbet cardstock to use for the card base.  On white cardstock, I stamped the butterflies, squares and flowers to fill out most of the card, leaving space for the sentiment.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink, added a little Strawberry twine and rounded the bottom corners.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Be Happy
  • Paper:  PTI Melon Berry, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet; Memento Pear Tart, Cantaloupe, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
