Happy Summer Birthday...

I thought I'd better post this card before the summer is over! This is one of those cards I didn't want to give away because I just love the way it turned out!😍

I wanted to fill the background with clouds and made my own "cloud stencil" using cloud dies and a square piece of cardstock. I die-cut each side of the square with the cloud dies and now I'll be able to use it over and over!

I started by placing a piece of masking tape at the bottom of the card where the grass and sky would meet. I used Spring Moss ink and lightly rubbed it to create the grass. The blades of grass were stamped in Simply Chartreuse ink.

Using my new "cloud stencil" and Hawaiian Shores ink, I created the sky. Doesn't it look great? I stenciled the sun rays right on top in Lemon Tart ink.

The two flamingos are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped in Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet and black ink. I placed the closest one on foam tape. The sentiment is stamped on white cardstock and is also on foam tape for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Some Like It Hot, Wreath For All Seasons, Big Birthday Wishes; WPlus9 Unforgettable
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select

SAF 2017: 7th Anniversary Tradition - Wool...

Day 3

10:00 AM Challenge:  "Create a project featuring stitched felt cookies."

Well, I'm happy to be using felt again for another project! And as soon as I saw Debbie's video, I knew I was going to use my Sweet Holiday Wishes dies to create the cookies.

I used three different cookie dies and used 3 layers of felt, 2 for the sandwich portion and one for the filling. To stitch them together, I used a blanket stitch. Thankfully I won't be graded on my sewing because it's really not that great. I did get better as I did the last cookie (the tree) but I was getting tired. I should at least get an "A" for effort!😀

Project Details:
  • Dies:  PTI Sweet Holiday Wishes
  • Other:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Simply Chartreuse, Vintage Cream, Harvest Gold Felt; Taylored Expressions Khaki, Chocolate Chip, Powder Felt

2016 Calendar

Last year I made a bunch of these calendars, but ran out of time to make them for this year. So I only made one for a friend that uses it on her craft table.

For the design I used Winter Woods, stamping the branch in Dark Chocolate ink and the leaves in Spring Moss ink. The bird is die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Enchanted Evening and black inks. I placed the bird on a bit of foam tape for dimension.

The calendar is layered on a piece of Spring Moss cardstock with a piece of fun foam for dimension. The top portion of the card is cut in Enchanted Evening cardstock with Card Edgers #4. I tied a single piece of jute around it, threaded with a New Leaf button. I also added glitter to the leaves.

The size of the calendar is 4.5" x 5.5, so it's a perfect size for a small area.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Winter Woods
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Moss, Enchanted Evening
  • Ink:  PTI Dark Chocolate, Spring Moss, Enchanted Evening; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Winter Woods, Card Edgers #4
  • Other:  PTI New Leaf Button; Glitter; Fun Foam; Jute; Taylored Expression Calendar
  • Size:  4.5" x 5.5"

It's A Great Day

A little break from the PTI Anniversary Celebration since for the past 2 days Nichole had contests where you didn't have to make a project. Today's contest we do, so I'll be posting it tomorrow!

I stamped the image for this card well before Christmas and it's been sitting on my craft table waiting to get finished. So I thought it was time to get out the Copics and color it in! It's been a while since I've colored!

The flower cart is stamped in black ink on white cardstock. I sponged around the upper portion with a bit of Aqua Mist ink for the sky. The cart is colored with Copics.

I stamped the sentiment at the bottom and added "happy birthday" to the cart canopy. The bottom was looking empty so I stamped blades of grass in two different colors of green.  To help bring out the red  and green on the card, I added a strip of Holiday Plaid pattern paper and placed the image on a Kraft cardstock card base.

To finish the card, I put a bit of glitter on the flowers and tied Strawberry twine around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Basics; Taylored Expressions Sip, Sip Hooray; WPlus9 Unforgettable
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select, Holiday Plaid
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, New Leaf; Memento Tuxedo Black

Seasons Greetings

Here's the card I made for my parent's mail carrier. My friend Jill is always looking for "postal" type stamps for me and found this one on Taylored Expressions.  Thank you Jill!

I stamped the mailbox image on white cardstock that was die-cut using a stitched rectangle die. The image is stamped in black ink and colored with Copics. I added gold Pearl Pen to the trees to make the ornaments look dimensional. I also added a glitter line below the trees, on the mailbox and the very top of the post.

Seasons Greetings is stamped in Pure Poppy ink and on fun foam for dimension. I placed a piece of fun foam on the panel and adhered it to a white card base, layered with Holiday Plaid pattern paper. It was tough using a whole piece of this Holiday paper, lol, but I thought the colors I used on this matched this particular pattern perfectly!

The top of the card looked too empty so I added the clouds, placed on foam tape for dimension. Such a cute stamp!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Seasons Greetings, Postmarks; Taylored Expressions You've Got Mail Christmas
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Holiday Plaid
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; Memento Tuxedo Black

Sweet Birthday Wishes

I bought this cute ice cream truck stamp set last year and this year they had a die to cut out the truck, so naturally I had to get it! I saw this card posted on Taylor's blog and made one similar to it.

I die-cut the truck in white cardstock, stamped it using the Misti and colored it with Copic markers. On a white cardstock card base, I stamped the road in black ink. The "hills" behind it are die-cut with a rolling clouds die, that was one of the reasons I wanted this die because I could use it for different things.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and lilac ink to match the truck. A few clouds on foam tape completed the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Sweet As Can Be, Special Delivery; Taylored Expressions Summer Love
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Lilac Posies
  • Copics:  C1, C3, E34, E25, G82, N4, R27, R83, RV17, 100

Congratulations On Your New Arrival

Simple cards continue....

I took a piece of blue baby pattern paper and placed it on a white cardstock card base, rounding the right hand corners.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink on a banner die-cut, placing it on foam tape. A little blue ribbon completed the card. It took longer to type up this post than it did to make the card!  lol

  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Congrats Grad

I ordered this graduation stamp from Taylored Expressions a few years ago and never used it...it was time to ink it up!

On white cardstock, I stamped the "congrats grad" (all one stamp) and colored the "grad" portion with Copics, outlining it with a light grey shadow. I die-cut the row of stars in Hawaiian Shores cardstock and placed it on an angle across the panel.

2015 is cut in four different cardstock colors and the little stars (made from the star border die) are in the same colors. I placed the panel on a layer of black cardstock, onto a Pure Poppy cardstock card base.  It certainly is a bright and festive looking card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Grad
  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, True Black, White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise, New Leaf
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  BG15, G82, R27, Y35, W1

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy February! January seems like it went by pretty fast - at least we are moving in the right direction for Spring.

I needed to make a Valentine for a little boy and remembered I had this cute truck stamp set from Taylored Expressions. I die-cut the truck and colored it with Copics, adding black buttons for the wheels. On a separate piece of paper I stamped the hearts, colored them with Copics, cut them out and attached them to the truck. At the last minute I decided to put Glossy Accents on the hearts to make them shiny.

On a white cardstock card base, I added the layer of heart pattern paper. I die-cut the hill and ran it through the Cuttlebug using my Swiss Dots embossing folder. I placed it on a piece of light blue pattern paper and adhered it to the card. The truck is on foam tape for dimension. I added the clouds, placing one on foam tape. I stamped the sentiment on a banner and adhered it to the card.

I die-cut the two hearts and created Will's name and "to" on the computer, overlapping the hearts at the top of the card. The finishing touch was Shore twine tied just below the hill.

  • Paper:  PTI Simply Chartreuse, White Stampers Select; K&Company; DCWV

Easel Card 5 & 6

And finally, the last of the easel calendars I made!  (See my November 19th post for more details of how these are made).

Easel #5 has a Spring Moss cardstock base and the coaster is covered with a muted soft green pattern paper.  The top and bottom is cut in white cardstock using Card Edgers #5.  The calendar is layered on Spring Moss cardstock and placed on foam tape.  I added the butterflies at the bottom with pearl centers and tied Honeydew twine around the top, threaded with a button.

Easel Calendar #5

I thought maybe a man would use one of these calendars and made this style with more masculine colors and replaced the butterfly design with wood buttons.

Calendar #6 base is Blueberry Sky cardstock and the coaster is covered with polka dot pattern paper.  The top and bottom is also cut using Card Edgers #5.  I layered the calendar on Blueberry Sky, added jute at the top, threaded with a wood button and more buttons at the bottom.

Here are a couple more calendar designs.  (See my November 19th post for more details of how these are made)

Easel #3 has an Aqua Mist cardstock base and the coaster is covered with a pretty multi-colored, diamond pattern paper.  The top and bottom is cut in white cardstock using Card Edgers #1.  The calendar is layered on Aqua Mist and placed on foam tape.  I added the butterflies at the bottom with pearl centers and tied Seaweed twine around the top, threaded with a button.

Easel Calendar #3

For Calendar #4, I covered the coaster in a soft pink, flowered pattern paper, all placed on a base of Lavender Moon cardstock.  The top and bottom were cut with Card Edgers #4, and butterflies at the bottom.  The pink button is threaded with Ice Cream twine.

It's A Girl!

I like using pattern paper that says something on it...

I used white cardstock for the card base, rounding the right hand corners.  I added a layer of this cute baby girl pattern paper.  I die-cut the carriage in white cardstock and stamped "it's a girl" on it.  I added metal dots to the wheels and a few hearts in pink paper.  The carriage is on foam tape for dimension.

I stamped the sentiment on the bottom and tied pink ribbon around the spine.

Easel Calendar 1 & 2

In addition to the card calendars I made, I also made this style, which is the same set-up as an easel card.  I made several different designs and will post them over the next few weeks.

Easel #1 uses Plum Pudding cardstock for the base.  I used a thick coaster for the calendar base and covered both sides in pattern paper.  I used white cardstock, cut with Card Edgers #3 at the top and the bottom of the card, placing another piece of pattern paper on the bottom die-cut.  I placed foam tape under this to slightly lift it up so the easel leans again it to stand up.

The calender is layered with Plum Pudding and placed on foam tape for dimension.  For embellishments, I tied Orchid twine around the top, threaded with a coordinating button. For the bottom, I punched out butterflies, adding pearls to the centers.

Easel Calendar #1

This is what the side of the calendar looks like:

For Easel #2, I used Sweet Blush cardstock for the base and covered the coaster with a soft pink pattern paper.  The white at the top and the bottom was die-cut with Card Edgers #1.

The calendar is layered on Sweet Blush and on foam tape.  I tied Blossom Twine around the top and die-cut the butterflies in coordinating paper.

2014 Card Calendar (3 & 4)

Here are the other two card calendar designs I made.

For calendar #3, I used Raspberry Fizz pattern pattern paper at the top, cut with Card Edgers #4.  I stamped the flowers at the bottom using Natural Beauties - they are stamped in rosebud ink only, but the stamp gives the illusion of more than one color.  I gave the flowers a yellow center with light green leaves.

The calendar is layered on True Black cardstock and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I tied Charcoal twine around the top, threaded with a yellow button.  To add a little bling, each flower center has a gem.

Card Calendar #3:

Calendar #4 is my favorite one because I love this stamp set and the colors I picked! I used a blue/orange pattern paper at the top, again cut with Card Edgers #4.  I used Mum's The Word flowers, stamped twice in two different color blues. I also added some loose petals in blue and light orange to make them appear to be blowing in the wind.  The leaves are stamped in a medium color green ink.

The calendar is layered on Bazzill blue cardstock and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I tied blue twine around the top, threaded with an Orange Zest button.

2014 Card Calendar (1 & 2)

A few years ago I saw these desk calendars on Lisa Johnson's blog and thought they were really cute.  I think they make a nice little something to include with a gift, gift card, stocking stuffer, etc.  They're the same size as an A2 card (4.25" x 5.5") and can be folded for mailing.  So far they've been very popular and this may become an annual tradition for me to make them every year!

For calendar #1, I used beige pattern paper at the top, cut with Card Edgers #3.  I stamped the flowers at the bottom, using beige ink for the leaves to match the pattern paper at the top.  The flowers are stamped in a wine color ink with dark brown centers.  I added glitter to the flowers for a little sparkle.

The calendar is layered on Scarlet Jewel cardstock and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I tied Flax twine around the top, threaded with a coordinating button.

Card Calendar #1:

I included a "stand" to help prevent the calendar from falling over.  You can see from this side view picture how the calendar can easily be folded flat.

For calendar #2, I used an orange pattern paper at the top, using Card Edgers #1.  The flowers are stamped using Rosie Posie and Rosie Posie Step 2 for additional flower details.  I did put a little glitter on the top of the flowers.

The calendar is layered on Spring Moss cardstock (to match the stamped leaves) and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I tied Honeydew twine around the top, threaded with an Orange Zest button.

Heard It's Your Special Day

Isn't this a cute card for a little girl?  I made this for my friend's daughter for her 13th birthday - I hope it's not too young for her.

I used Hawaiian Shores for the card base.  Using my rectangle stitched mats, I ran a piece of white cardstock through the Cuttlebug to create the stitched look around the edges.  I just love this look!  I stamped Madelyn and colored her with Copics.  I stamped her hat, colored and cut it (I sound like a hairdresser!) and placed it on foam tape for a little dimension.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a small gem to her hair bow.

I wanted to highlight she's turning 13 and die-cut the numbers on the card.  The sequins match this cardstock almost perfectly and add the bling every girl likes!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Madelyn
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  E50, E35, W1, BG23, R81, R85, RV19

celebrate!

Is this not the cutest stamp?  This was a free set with a $20 purchase from Taylored Expressions - once I saw the stamp set I knew I would be buying something from her!

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of blue and brown polka dot pattern paper, rounding the right hand corners.  I stamped the truck on white cardstock and colored the image with Copics.  I die-cut the image with deckled nestabilities and placed it on Blueberry Sky cardstock.

I die-cut the banner, stamped "celebrate" in blue ink and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  Since I placed the truck image on the right side of the card, I decided to stamp a bigger ice cream cone for the left side of the card.  I colored it with Copics, fussy cut it and placed it on more foam tape.

I sprinkled a little glitter on the ice cream cones and tied Denim twine around the spine to finish the card.  Anything with ice cream reminds me of my mom - she sure does like her ice cream!  haha

Oh Baby!

I think this set from Taylored Expressions is adorable!

I used white for the card base, added a layer of light brown and a layer of pink striped paper.  I stamped the image on white and colored it with Copics.  I die-cut it with an oval nestability and placed it on a scalloped oval.

I stamped the sentiment and die-cut it with a scalloped rectangle.  I stamped "oh baby" on a smaller oval and layered it on a pink.

To bring out the darker pink stripe in the paper, I die-cut the corners in a coordinating color.  I tied a ribbon around the card and placed the image on foam tape for dimension.  My last step was adding a tiny gem to the ribbon in her hair.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Jenn
  • Paper:  DCWV; Bazzill

2nd Birthday

I really like this bear - so cute for a child's card!  I used white for the card base and layered it with pink, white and a green/pink patterned paper.  The bear is stamped and colored with Copics; I added the hat cut with light green paper and topped with a pink pompom.  The bear image is mounted on pink and popped up on foam squares.

I stamped the balloons onto light green paper, cut them out and added the sentiment.  I placed them on foam squares and attached Blossom twine for the strings.  I diecut "reese" in pink and adhered them with coaster for support.  My final steps were adding the 2 to the balloon, tying the ribbon and adding the gems on the right hand side.

I Didn't Forget Your Birthday

I don't often make belated birthday cards, but this stamp set was too cute to pass up!  I used pink/blue for the card base, topped with a festive polka dot paper.  I stamped the chicks and colored them with Copics.  The sentiment is stamped on a tea label die and edged with pink/blue ink.  I added a little glitter under their feet and wrapped plain twine around the card and tied it in a bow.

  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Belated Birthday - Stand Out
  • Paper:  DCWV
  • Tools:  Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities, PTI Tea Label Die
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Glitter, Twine, Copics
