Papertrey November 2018 Blog Hop...

Well, it's one month until Christmas.....how did that happen? I haven't been crafting much lately, I'm way behind due to some medical issues. Seeing the inspiration photo had me making a birthday card with a gift on it. That's what I see in the inspiration photo, all of the gifts! My card isn't a Christmas theme, but I think it still works!πŸ‘ And green is a Christmas color. lol

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of Lemon Tart polka dots. Next, I pulled out my Wrap It Up die (which I really need to start using more often!) and die-cut the ribbons in solid Green Parakeet cardstock and Green Parakeet White & Basics pattern paper. I used a bit of foam tape to give some dimension to the bow.

Wish Big is die-cut in white cardstock and the little tag in Lemon Tart cardstock, tied with crochet thread to the bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Make It Monday Mini Clipsters
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, Lemon Tart Polka Dots, Green Parakeet, Green Parakeet White & Basics, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Wrap It Up, Wish Big
  • Other:  Crochet Thread, Foam Tape
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey October 2018 Blog Hop...

Isn't it great to see all the Fall items now? So nice that the cooler weather is here and the hot, humid summer is over.πŸ˜€ This month's inspiration photo just screams Autumn, doesn't it? And hard to believe, but Christmas is now just 2 months away!

I concentrated on Fall colors for my card and pulled out Doodlie-Do, a set I haven't used for some time. It's always fun to stamp and color the images in this set!

On white cardstock, die-cut with a stitched border, I stamped the flower images and colored them with Copic markers.  The sentiment is stamped with Ripe Avocado ink and the panel adhered to a Kraft cardstock card base.  Just a quick and simple card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Doodlie-Do, It's The Thought
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Ripe Avocado
  • Copics:  R32, R37, R39, Y35, YG93, YG95, YG97

Papertrey September 2018 Blog Hop...

It's been a while since I made a card, but this month's inspiration photo was so Fall-like that I had to make something!

I concentrated on the Fall colors and the leaves around the pumpkins.  I pulled out Gran's Garden. I started with a white card base and added a layer of Summer Sunrise Bitty Dots. I stamped the flowers and leaves on white cardstock and die-cut them.

The sentiment is on a rectangle of white cardstock. I placed it on fun foam for dimension and arranged the flowers and leaves above it. I wrapped crochet thread at the bottom to fill in some of the space. I don' use orange much but I'm happy with the way this turned out.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Gran's Garden, Congrats: All Ways
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Summer Sunrise Polka Dots
  • Ink:  PTI Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Spring Moss; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Gran's Garden; LID Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Fun Foam; Crochet Thread
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey July 2018 Blog Hop...

I'm still suffering from the hot weather and that means my lack of ambition continuesπŸ˜’. This month's Blog Hop photo didn't do much for me so I struggled to come up with an idea. I only have one set of fish stamps, and of course I'm now wishing I bought the flora and fauna stamp sets PTI released last month! Oh well, I'll get them later.

Looking at the inspiration photo made me think of a fish traffic jam! lol All those fish trying to get somewhere and bumping into each other, just like cars on the road. I came up with this quick, clean and simple card.

I started with a piece of Spring Rain cardstock and added a section of white cardstock for the sand at the bottom. I stamped a few leafy thingies and starfish along with the sentiment.

Lots of blue in the photo so I stamped the fish in Enchanted Evening and Blueberry Sky, adding a few in Fresh Snow and Berry Sorbet inks. The bubbles are stamped in Spring Rain ink.

I'm not crazy about this card but at least I made something to enter the contest! Oh, it's just 5 months until Christmas! Think cold weather and snow. πŸ‘

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep Swimming, Day At The Beach, Lilies Of The Field
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain, Berry Sorbet, Fresh Snow
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Ombre Watercolor Backgrounds (MIM #327)...

Betsy Veldman is our host for this week's challenge, Make It Monday #327: Ombre Watercolor Backgrounds, where she shows us how to make "easy" watercolored backgrounds with ink. Hmmm. Betsy does make it look very easy, but I struggled a little with this challenge, I think maybe because of the watercolor paper. I tried Hobby Lobby, Tim Holtz and Bristol paper and actually had the best luck with the Hobby Lobby paper. I wonder, does the DT ever have to redo their projects or do they hit it out of the ballpark on their first try?😳

I selected Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks for my background colors, rubbing them on the watercolor paper, dark to lightest colors. I used a brush and water to create downward strokes to blend the inks. Next, I used the leaves from the Harvest Berries stamp set and stamped them along the edges, again, darkest to lightest colors. I added additional leaves in lighter colors to for depth. The panel is adhered to a white cardstock card base.

The sentiment, from Painted Petals is stamped in black ink. I decided to add some berries and stamped them in each of the three blue colors. This was fun to do and I'll definitely try it again!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Harvest Berries, Painted Petals
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Master's Touch Watercolor
  • Ink:  PTI Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Brush; Water
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey June 2018 Blog Hop...

This month's inspiration photo has to be one of my all time favorites! So much color in the photo and those delicious looking Popsicles and fruit make me think, yes, summer is here! I don't like the heat that goes with summer, but I do like the food associated with it!😎 Nothing better than a nice, cold Popsicle or bowl of fruit on a hot, humid day!

I was drawn to the Popsicles and realized I haven't used my Summer Sweetness set for a while. I die-cut the Popsicles in white cardstock and stamped each in a color I saw in the inspiration photo. The sticks are stamped in Kraft ink. I added glitter to each one, giving them a frosty look.

I arranged the Popsicles on a white cardstock card base and stamped the sentiment in black ink. I haven't used my Swoosh stamp set for a long time either! It's always nice to pull out an old set to use. Now I want to make more cards with this set!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Summer Sweetness, Swoosh
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Kraft, Raspberry Fizz, Lemon Tart; Memento Tangelo, New Sprout, Lulu Lavender, Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Summer Sweetness
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey May 2018 Blog Hop...

Another month has passed and it's time for PTI's monthly Blog Hop. This month's inspiration picture reminds me that summer is almost here. The first things I noticed were the black and white gingham tablecloths and the pretty pink and purple flowers on the tables. So that's what I made the focal point of my card.

I placed a layer of True Black gingham pattern paper on top of a white cardstock card base. I haven't rounded the bottoms of a card for a long time, but it sort of went with the rounded top of the camper in the background.

I die-cut the lilies in white cardstock and stamped them Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Raspberry Fizz and Pure Poppy inks. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet ink and the flower centers in Lemon Tart ink.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. I placed the flower above the sentiment on foam tape for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Lilies Of The Field, Sentiment Staples: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, True Black Gingham
  • Ink:  PTI Lilac Grace, Amethyst Allure, Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Lilies Of The Field
  • Other:  Fun Foam; Corner Rounder
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey April 2018 Blog Hop...

Can the months be going by any faster? Hard to believe it's almost the end of April and time for another Blog Hop challenge. This month's inspiration photo had a lot of colors to choose from, but right now I'm stuck in a Hawaiian Shores/Tropical Teal mode and those are the colors that jumped out to me.

I wanted to make a quick, clean and simple card for a change. On white cardstock, I randomly stamped the mums in Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks, adding a few small leaves in Spring Moss ink. The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

That's it! Wow, this sure was a short post for me!😎 I'm playing around with the "flat lay" photography tips that Lexi Daly shared with us. I need to practice a bit more, specifically how to take more of a close up. I used my iPad camera for this - boy this camera takes nicer pictures than my actual camera!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mum's The Word
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Spring Moss; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey March 2018 Blog Hop...

The months seem to be going quickly this year and winter is finally over and it's time for another Blog Hop challenge! This month's inspiration photo screams Spring to me! I love all the pastel colors and the beautiful blues that surround the photo. I concentrated on the tulips and the blue for my card.

On a panel of white cardstock, I stamped the tulips in Lovely Lady ink for the first layer, Lovely Lady (stamped 3 times) for the second layer and Hibiscus Burst ink for the third layer. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. Instead of tapping the ink on the stamps, I swiped it to give them a streaky look.

The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I took Spring Rain ink and rubbed it all around the flowers to mimic the blue background in the photo. I used a stitched rectangle on the panel and adhered it to a white cardstock card base. I added a little bit of glitter to the flower tips as my final step.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tulip Time, Keep It Simple: Sympathy
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Smokey Shadow, Spring Rain
  • Dies:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey February 2018 Blog Hop...

It's time for PTI's Blog Hop again and this month's photo inspiration is a sure sign that Spring is right around the corner! We had a few days of Spring-like weather this week, but now the temps are back to normal. It won't be long and I'll be complaining about the hot weather!πŸ˜„

From the photo, I immediately saw the green and blue colors, the flowers, eggs and rabbit. I just received my February order yesterday and thought the new Egg Stripes set would be perfect to use for my card.

I die-cut the egg in Fresh Snow Linen cardstock and stamped the stripes in Versamark ink. I added white embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I took Green Parakeet ink and rubbed it on top, adding a bit of New Leaf ink to the edges.

The flowers are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Harvest Gold, Lovely Lady, Spring Rain and New Leaf inks, with black marker added to the centers. The rabbit is die-cut three times in white cardstock and stacked together. I stamped the image in black ink adding pink to the ears and nose with Copic markers. Three small pompoms were used for his fluffy tail.

To bring out more of the blue, I die-cut a speech bubble in Spring Rain cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black ink. The speech bubble and the blue flower are on foam tape for dimension. I placed the panel on a Green Parakeet cardstock card base.

The card looked like it had too much background so I added the Loop de Loop border die-cut in gold cardstock, which coordinates with the gold wrapped eggs in the photo. My final touch was adding a little glitter on the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Egg Stripes, Hippity Hoppity, Bitty Bouquets
  • Paper:  PTI Green Parakeet, Fresh Snow Linen, Spring Rain, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Harvest Gold, Lovely Lady, New Leaf, Spring Rain, Green Parakeet; Memento Tuxedo Black; Versamark
  • Copics:  R81, R83
  • Dies:  PTI Big Egg, Hippity Hoppity, Bitty Bouquets, Loop de Loop, Speech Bubbles
  • Tools:  Heat Tool
  • Other:  Glitter; Pompoms; Foam Tape; Embossing Powder; Black Marker
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey January 2018 Blog Hop...

Hard to believe it's time for another Blog Hop challenge - the last month sure seemed to go by quickly. We had a fun inspiration photo to use, one you could certainly get lots of ideas from. I needed to make another milestone birthday card and concentrated on the confetti on the cake and balloons and the pink, raspberry and black colors.

I placed a piece of Confetti Toss pattern paper on a white cardstock card base. The "60" is die-cut three times in Raspberry Fizz cardstock, stacked and glued together. The "th" is die-cut in Smokey Shadow cardstock.

The banner is die-cut in Sweet Blush cardstock with "happy" stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I tied Pink Sorbet twine through the holes and placed it on fun foam for dimension. I stamped the rest of the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Signature Greetings, Keep It Simple: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Confetti Toss, White Stampers Select, Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Stemmed Statements, Suffix Style; Stampin' Up Large Numbers Framelets
  • Other:  Twine
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey December 2017 Blog Hop...

I really didn't have time to make a card for the blog hop, and was hoping it would be something holiday related since I'm still in holiday mode. But it looks like they picked "love" to go along with their latest release of Valentine items.

Since it was a heart shaped wreath, I immediately thought of the To Have And To Hold stamp set. I stamped the wreath in Spring Moss ink, adding additional leaves in Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks.

The flowers were die-cut in white cardstock and stamped in Raspberry Fizz and Pale Peony inks. I added a few smaller flowers in Berry Sorbet ink. Love was die-cut in Pale Peony cardstock using a die from the Wet Paint set.

I scored three lines 1/2" apart at the bottom (hard to see in the picture), tied white crochet thread in a bow and added glitter to the flowers. That's the best I could do during this busy time of year!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI To Have And To Hold
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Raspberry Fizz, Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony
  • Dies:  PTI Wet Paint
  • Other:  Crochet Thread; Scor-Pal; Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey November 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

Just one month until Christmas...yikes!!! This month the blog hop inspiration photo focuses on Fall and the lovely colors and adornments that go along with it. It didn't take long for me to come up with an idea for my card (yea!).

I pulled out Color Pop Autumn for this card - I'm so happy I'm getting a lot of use out of this kit! On Fresh Snow Linen paper, I stamped the leaves, berries and acorns in a variety of Fall like colors, just like in the picture. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base and added a strip of Orange Zest stripes down the side.

The sentiment is stamped on a stitched rectangle in Cocoa Bean ink and is on fun foam for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop: Autumn, Autumn Hills
  • Paper:  PTI Fresh Snow Linen, White Stampers Select, Orange Zest Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen, Cocoa Bean; Memento Morocco

Papertrey October 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

Well, the countdown is on - it's just 2 months until Christmas! Don't you think this year has gone by way too fast? I certainly do!

This month's inspiration photo had a lot of things to choose from, but I wanted to go really simple and focused on that single leaf in the second photo on the top row.

I die-cut my leaf in Ripe Avocado four times, stamping one with Olive Twist ink. The leaves are glued together for dimension. On a piece of Rustic White cardstock, I stenciled a portion of it with Spring Moss ink. If I didn't do this, it would have looked like too much of a white background. The sentiment is stamped in Olive Twist ink.

I used a paper distresser (haven't used it in ages!) around the panel to rough it up a little. I placed the panel on an Olive Twist cardstock card base. A simple and quick card to make.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Autumn Hills, Leaf Prints
  • Paper:  PTI Olive Twist, Ripe Avocado, Rustic White
  • Ink:  PTI Olive Twist, Spring Moss
  • Dies:  PTI Leaf Prints
  • Tools:  PTI Modern Backgrounds Stencil; Tim Holtz Paper Distresser
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey September 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

This month's inspiration photo features black as the background, something I don't use often. But I was intrigued by the flowers and bird and didn't have too much trouble coming up with an idea. The poppy flowers in Stemmed Statements reminded me of the flowers in the photo and since I haven't inked up that set yet, it was my first choice for my card.

I stamped the flowers in black ink on white cardstock, die-cut and colored them with Copic markers. I also die-cut some leaves from the Spruce & Sprigs set and stamped them with Kraft ink. I arranged the florals on a panel of True Black cardstock, cutting off one of the green leaves and placing it at the bottom where the stems cross over.

The Winter Woods bird is die-cut in white cardstock, stamped with Kraft and Cocoa Beans inks and is on foam tape for dimension.

The card base is Pure Poppy cardstock, with a layer of white cardstock in between to give a striped look at the bottom. I die-cut the banner in white cardstock, stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink and placed it on fun foam for additional dimension. And another Christmas card is done!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stemmed Statements, Spruce & Sprigs, Winter Woods
  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Kraft, Cocoa Bean; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  G12, G82, R24, R39, Y38
  • Dies:  PTI Stemmed Statements, Spruce & Sprigs, Winter Woods
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Fun Foam
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey July 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

The summer months sure are going by fast - and I'm happy about that because it's been so HOT here! 😩Bring on Fall please!!!! For this month's challenge, I didn't see much to go on with the inspiration photo, in fact, to me it just looked rather blah. It took me a while to come up with an idea and although I'm not thrilled with it, at least I made something.

On white cardstock I stamped the flowers in Spring Rain and Blueberry and the leaves in Soft Stone inks. I added a couple flourishes in the corners, finally using my Fancy Flourishes stamp set that I bought at least a year ago!

The sentiment is stamped in Blueberry Sky ink. The card base is white cardstock, with a piece of Spring Rain pattern paper on top. To finish things, I tied white crochet thread around the bottom.

😑I couldn't get a good picture of this card. I normally use Photoshop for editing my pictures, but I upgraded to the Sierra OS and now Photoshop doesn't work with it because it's an older version! I used iPhotos for my editing on this but can't get a brighter picture. Now I'll have to find a Photoshop replacement....any suggestions??

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Keep It Simple: Get Well, Fancy Flourishes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Rain Pattern
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Soft Stone
  • Other:  Crochet Thread
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
