A Very Happy Birthday 2 You

Can you believe March is almost over?? This year is going by way too fast!

I wanted to use a Cover Plate and pulled out Horizontal Stripes, cutting it in white cardstock, placing it on a white cardstock card base.

I die-cut the frame, stamped it in Aqua Mist ink, the sentiment in black ink and placed it on an angle with foam tape.  The Caribbean  twine was a good match for this.

It was too empty on the card so I added assorted blue flowers.  A very quick card to make!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Framed Out #1, Framed Out #12
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Framed Out #12, Cover Plate: Horizontal Stripes
  • Other:  Twine; Paper Studios Blue Flowers; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Easter

Creatively, I don't think I'm very good at making cards for young kids, and Easter is no exception. But I'm happy with the way this one turned out.  I knew I wanted to use rabbits and luckily I have a bunch of these little rabbits already die-cut.

I started with a white cardstock card base and placed this light blue paper on it. Next, I placed the fence toward the bottom of the card and added the grass, die-cut with a border punch. I picked out three rabbits and edged around them with Tea Dye ink. I tied ribbon around each of their necks, placed a pompom on their tails and adhered them with foam tape.

The eggs are die-cut in green, yellow and purple and stamped with coordinating inks. I just received my Retro Style dies in the mail from PTI and they came in handy to help personalize the card. The post is cut in Kraft cardstock and I added green, yellow and purple for the signs, stamping the sentiment in black ink.

To complete the card I added the clouds, die-cut in a textured, white paper.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Limitless Labels, Hippity Hoppity, Birthday Classics: February
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Moss, Lemon Tart, Winter Wisteria, Kraft, Spring Moss Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Moss, Harvest Gold, Winter Wisteria; Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Tea Dye
  • Dies:  PTI Retro Style, Hippity Hoppity, Clouds 1 & 2 Collection; Impression Obsession Bunny Trio; Poppystamps Picket Fence

February Birthday Blessings

I thought I posted all of my "February" cards but found another one.

Who knew a rectangle with holes around it could make me so happy...I just love this Journal Card die! I cut it twice, once in Sweet Blush cardstock and once in white cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I tied Strawberry twine around the top and added a few clear sequins.

On a white cardstock card base, I added a layer of Sweet Blush polka dot pattern paper. Next, I placed the Sweet Blush journal card and the white layer on foam tape.

I'm really enjoying using the birthday classics stamp sets!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: February
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Sweet Blush, Sweet Blush Polka Dots
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Journal Card #7
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Pretty Pink Posh Sequins; Twine

Thank You

I've done this technique several times now - I don't think I'll ever run out of those little squares I bought from QVC years ago!  lol

This technique is from Papertrey's Make It Monday #159, "No-Sew Quilted Cards" (posted April 7, 2014).  The card uses 1.5" squares of pattern paper adhered to a white card base. I ran the sheet through the Cuttlebug using my Cover Plate: Hexagon die to give it a quilted look.

Thank You is die-cut in Enchanted Evening cardstock 3 times, layered and glued together for a little dimension.

Card Details:
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Enchanted Evening; Colorbok
  • Dies:  PTI Wonderful Words: Thank You, Cover Plate: Hexagon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Wishes For A Blessed Easter

Wasn't it just Valentine's Day? I can't believe Easter is almost here.....time goes by way too fast anymore.

I stamped the flowers on white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. It's been a long time since I did any coloring and it felt good! I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink, layered it on a Lemon Tart cardstock circle and adhered it with foam tape. The sentiment in this set does not look straight to me - believe me, "wishes for a blessed" is straight, it's the word "Easter" that looks cockeyed to me! I looked at other cards with this stamp and they all look "off" to me. The sentiment is all one stamp so maybe I'll try to cut it apart.

I added a strip of Spring Moss striped paper down the side and place the panel on a Lemon Tart cardstock card base. My last steps were adding a couple of butterflies and glitter to the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Stampin' Up Blessed Easter
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, White Stampers Select, Spring Moss Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Copics:  Y21, Y32, YR21, YG93, YG95, W1
  • Dies:  Memory Box Dancing Butterflies; Standard Circle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Glitter; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday

Well, today is the first day of Spring and we are getting snow! It's supposed to be cold with a wintry mix all day with 2-4" of snow possible. I thought March was supposed to go out like a lamb??

This is a quick card I put together and I realized that almost every time I use this stamp set, I use the same colors! I have to change that in the future.

The flowers are stamped on white cardstock in Hibiscus Burst ink with black ink centers. The leaves are stamped in Spring Moss ink. I stamped the sentiment in black and placed the panel on a Hibiscus Burst cardstock card base. I did add a little glitter to the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendly Flowers, Reasons To Smile
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Celebrate

And of course I can't stop using Wet Paint dies...I hope PTI comes out with more words in this font!

I placed a piece of Hawaiian Shores striped pattern paper, rounding the top corners, on a white cardstock card base. I cut a strip of black cardstock and added a layer of white cardstock.  The strip is adhered to the base with foam tape.

Celebrate is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock 3 times, stacked and glued together. I really like the way this adds a little dimension. The button stack is made with Raspberry Fizz cardstock and tied together with crochet twine.

To finish things off, I added three clear sequins.

Card Details:
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores Stripes, Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Dies:  PTI Wet Paint III, Button Stacks
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Pretty Pink Posh Sequins; Crochet Twine; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Congrats

I recently made a baby girl card so it was time to make a baby boy card.

I used a stencil for this, placing the stencil over a piece of white cardstock. I used a dauber, dipped in Aqua Mist ink and gently rubbed it over the design. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base, rounding the right hand corners.

Congrats is die-cut in Aqua Mist cardstock. I tied white sheer ribbon around the spine to finish the card.  A very quick card!

Card Details:
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist
  • Dies:  PTI Wonderful Words:  Congrats
  • Tools:  Heidi Swapp Stencil; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Ribbon; Dauber

Wishing You An Awesome March Birthday

So far this month I only made one card using the March die, but it won't be my last!

I used white cardstock for the card base adding a layer of pink polka dot pattern paper. I die-cut Journal Card #5 in white cardstock and another rectangle the same size in Hibiscus Burst cardstock.  March is die-cut in Sweet Blush cardstock three times and glued together. I added the sentiment above and below the month in Smokey Shadow ink.

To make the card a little more festive, I die-cut the streamers in Hibiscus Burst, Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores cardstock. Sarah is turning 15, and I added her age onto a circle on foam tape, with a couple of arrows pointing it out.

To finish off the card I added her name stamped on a circle, held on with a clothespin tied with Caribbean twine and a few clear sequins.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics March and April; Just Rite Times New Roman 15 Point
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select, Sweet Blush Polka Dots
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Monthly Moments: March, Journal Card #5, Sketched Shapes, Birthday Style, Block Alphabet Numbers; Standard Circle Nestabilities, Pinking Circle Nestabilities
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder

Yay! It's Your Birthday

I'm trying to get in Spring mode now by using lighter colors. I'm looking forward to warmer (not hot!) weather.

This card uses two of PTI's Journal Card dies - I can't seem to stop using them! The banner journal card is die-cut in white and I filled the banners with 5 different colors of cardstock scraps I had leftover. I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow and placed it over the dotted border journal card, cut in Lemon Tart cardstock.

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Spring Moss polka dot pattern paper, rounding the right hand corners. To complete the card, I tied Buttercream twine around the spine and added 4mm Lemon Meringue sequins.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss Polka Dot, White Stampers Select, Spring Moss, Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Summer Sunrise, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Journal Card #7, Journal Banner Card
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Pretty Pink Posh Sequins; Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday! (MIM #204)

I can't believe I'm participating in back to back Make It Monday videos! But I had to enter this one because I really like "smooshing" and have done it in the past a few times --- it's so easy and fun to do!! To learn about it, you can take a look at PTI's Make It Monday #204: Watercolor Smooshing.

For this card I used Hawaiian Shores and Spring Moss inks on my acetate, spritzed them with water and placed a piece of white cardstock on top. When I lifted it, I had pretty colors of blue, green and yellow, from where the blue and green mixed.

I placed the panel on a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base, lining it up against the right side instead of centering it, to give it a different look. The banner is from the new Keep It Simple Frames collection - I cut off one end of it to make it smaller - and stamped the sentiment in black ink. It's placed on foam tape for dimension.

To add a little something else to the card, I placed 3 clear sequins at the top. I'm trying to follow that "rule of three" I keep reading about!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Birthday Classics: April
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Spring Moss; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Keep It Simple Frames
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Pretty Pink Posh 6mm, 8mm Clear Sequins; Acetate
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Welcome Baby

I made this card after watching PTI's Make It Monday #193 Camouflaging Die Cuts video by Laura Bassen. It looked like a fun and simple process (it's a little hard to explain, so it's best to watch the video). Laura is sooooo talented!!!

On a piece of A2 size white cardstock, I placed a piece of masking tape across the card, and below it,  blended 3 different colors of ink to get this ombre effect. Once it was done, I removed the tape, placed the baby die on top and die-cut the word. I die-cut a few more "baby" words in plain white cardstock and stacked them up, with the ombre baby die-cut on top. See how it perfectly matches where it was originally die-cut from? I placed this completed panel on a white cardstock card base, rounding the corners.

I added the little banner stamped with "welcome" on foam tape. I can't use sequins enough right now and added a few clear ones. My final step was tying ribbon around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wonderful Words: Baby
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst; Memento Rosebud, Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Wonderful Words: Baby, Countdown Details
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Pretty Pink Posh Sequins; Ribbon; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

A Good Life....(MIM #203)

I know a lot of people are happy with Daylight Saving Time today, but I'm not. I really don't like the time change - it seems so silly in this day and age, just stop fooling around with the clocks!!  lol So, I wasn't going to make any cards today but I've been looking at PTI's Make It Monday #203 - Doodling With Stamps and decided to give it a try. It was so much fun to do and gives me another way to use my stamps!

I needed to pick out a solid stamp and decided to go with Happiness in Bloom. On white cardstock, I stamped the flowers in Hibiscus Burst ink and the leaves in Spring Moss ink, filling the centers with Harvest Gold ink. Next, how to doodle this....is there any right or wrong way? I think the answer is no. Using a thin, black marker I drew the lines around the outside of the flowers and made a few lines on the leaves.

I always like seeing some sort of border around the card panel and randomly drew the lines and dots. No ruler used - it looks better to see it free-handed, I think. I used the sentiment from this stamp set - sometimes I get tired of using "happy birthday" and thought this was a nice replacement for a change.

After giving the card one last look, I decided to put a few more doodles inside the flowers. I'm not sure I really like them, but it's growing on me. Thank you Ashley for showing us this new technique!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Happiness In Bloom; WPlus9 Fresh Cut Florals
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss, Harvest Gold; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Marvy LePen #2
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Winter Birthday Wishes

And here I am again using one of the color combinations I think works well together - Kraft and Ocean Tides.

I stamped the polka dots background on Kraft cardstock using Fresh Snow ink. I die-cut the Phrase Play frame in Ocean Tides cardstock and the inner parts in white cardstock. The winter letters are also die-cut in Ocean Tides, placed in the white backing and on foam tape. The sentiment is stamped in Kraft ink.

I pulled the edges of the snowflake up slightly to give them a little dimension. To finish the card, I added a few clear sequins, tied Fun Fur around the spine and rounded the right hand corners.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Polka Dot Basics, Phrase Play #6
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Ocean Tides, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Kraft, Fresh Snow
  • Dies:  PTI Phrase Play #9
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Fun Fur; Pretty Pink Posh Sequins; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Wish Big

This card was inspired by one that Melissa Bickford posted on her blog last July. I thought this was a great way to use up some scraps!

I used the die from Note Niblets and cut out a bunch of strips in various colors, and lined them up on a white cardstock card base. Yes, I used the same exact colors Melissa used - why change it up when it was perfect!

The pinking circle is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock and placed on foam tape. I added clear sequins for the embellishment. This was an easy card to make and it's bright and colorful for a birthday wish!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst, Raspberry Fizz, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse, Ripe Avocado, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  Note Niblets; Pink Circle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Pretty Pink Posh Sequins
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Anniversary Wishes

Happy March!  Well, the calendar might say March, but we are continuing to have winter-like weather here - yesterday we had snow, sleet and ice and are expecting more of the same this week.

For this card I'm using some of the newly released items I received from PTI's February release. I placed a piece of Spring Moss striped paper on a white cardstock card base and rounded the bottom right corner.

I die-cut the Keep It Simple Frame twice, once in white and once in Simply Chartreuse for the border.  The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink and the frame placed on foam tape. The flower is die-cut and stamped in Pure Poppy, Spring Moss and Cantaloupe inks and also placed on foam tape.  I added the red string at the bottom of the bouquet and glitter to the flowers - I think it adds the perfect finish for the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Bouquets, Keep It Simple: Anniversary
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss Stripes, Simply Chartreuse, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow, Pure Poppy, Spring Moss; Memento Cantaloupe
  • Dies:  PTI Keep It Simple Frames, Bitty Bouquets
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  String; Foam Tape; Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
