It's Okay To Be Happy...

Hello and happy June! The months sure seem to be going by faster and faster!!!!!

My friend let me borrow her new Lawn Fawn die that creates a pop-up on the inside of the card. I watched Jennifer McGuire's video (Jennifer McGuire Pivot Pop Up Cards) to see how to use the die which really helped.

First, I created the inside banner by creating the clouds background with a stencil on white cardstock. Next, I die-cut the grassy hills and the trees. My last step on the banner was stamping the sentiment - I stamped half of it with brown ink on one panel by masking a portion of the stamp and then repeated the same technique for the remainder of the sentiment on the other panel.

I wanted the card front to be similar to the inside and again created the clouds background and die-cut the grassy hills and trees. The sentiment is stamped in the same brown ink. I added a few die-cut clouds placed on foam tape for dimension.

This was fun to make and it's a clever idea, but it's also a lot of work!😊 I'm sure if I make another one it'll be much easier to do.

Here's the front and the inside of the pop-up card. The lighting isn't great here today since it's overcast. The entire sentiment is "it's okay to be happy with a simple life...delight in the little things". I'm sending this to my friend who lent me the die!

String Art Using Die-Cuts (MIM #255)...

This week's Make It Monday #255: String Art Using Die-Cuts is hosted by Amy Sheffer. This technique reminded me of the "Spirelli" trend from about 10 years ago. Luckily, I never got rid of my Spirelli punches and threads and they sure came in handy for this week's challenge. Don't they say if you wait long enough a trend will repeat? lol

I punched out the sun in Lemon Tart cardstock and wrapped gold, metallic thread around it. On white cardstock I stamped the sand in Kraft ink. Next, I masked around the edges of the card and the sand with washi tape, since I wanted a nice white border to show. Using a make-up brush, I lightly brushed on Aqua Mist ink for the sky. Let me just say that using a make-up brush to get a soft background is the way to go! I learned about this technique from Betty Wright who posted pictures of the brushes and where to buy them on her blog - Crafting With Betty. Thank you Betty!

Once the background was done, I added the umbrella in Raspberry Fizz ink, the flip-flops in Hawaiian Shores ink and the shells in Kraft ink. I stamped the sentiment and a few birds to help fill in the sky.

Happy Summer Birthday

This is another card I made with Lawn Fawn "Happy Summer", similar to the card I posted in July.  The ants crack me up!

I placed the red and white check paper on a white cardstock card base.  I stamped the watermelon chunks on white paper and colored them with Copics.  I cut them out and placed them on a white square, layered on a black scalloped square.  I stamped the sentiment and the ants, adding the hearts to the ant on top of the watermelon.  He is king of the hill and in love with the idea of eating all that sweet watermelon!  lol

I added a little glitter to the watermelon and tied watermelon twine around the card.  To complete the card, I rounded the bottom corners.

Happy Summer Birthday

How stinking cute is this little watermelon and ant set?  It's from Lawn Fawn, my first purchase from this company, but it certainly won't be my last!

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of red check pattern paper - which reminded me of a picnic tablecloth.  I stamped the row of ants and added the sentiment at the top, stamping part in black and part in red inks.

I stamped the watermelons and colored them with Copics - it's been a while since I did any Copic coloring!  I fussy cut the watermelons and adhered them to the card on foam tape.  I wanted to make it look like the ants were carrying the watermelons.

I added the dashed line next to the sentiment, glitter to the watermelons and tied watermelon twine around the top.  A delightful, summery looking card!
