Papertrey October 2018 Blog Hop...

Isn't it great to see all the Fall items now? So nice that the cooler weather is here and the hot, humid summer is over.😀 This month's inspiration photo just screams Autumn, doesn't it? And hard to believe, but Christmas is now just 2 months away!

I concentrated on Fall colors for my card and pulled out Doodlie-Do, a set I haven't used for some time. It's always fun to stamp and color the images in this set!

On white cardstock, die-cut with a stitched border, I stamped the flower images and colored them with Copic markers.  The sentiment is stamped with Ripe Avocado ink and the panel adhered to a Kraft cardstock card base.  Just a quick and simple card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Doodlie-Do, It's The Thought
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Ripe Avocado
  • Copics:  R32, R37, R39, Y35, YG93, YG95, YG97

Papertrey September 2018 Blog Hop...

It's been a while since I made a card, but this month's inspiration photo was so Fall-like that I had to make something!

I concentrated on the Fall colors and the leaves around the pumpkins.  I pulled out Gran's Garden. I started with a white card base and added a layer of Summer Sunrise Bitty Dots. I stamped the flowers and leaves on white cardstock and die-cut them.

The sentiment is on a rectangle of white cardstock. I placed it on fun foam for dimension and arranged the flowers and leaves above it. I wrapped crochet thread at the bottom to fill in some of the space. I don' use orange much but I'm happy with the way this turned out.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Gran's Garden, Congrats: All Ways
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Summer Sunrise Polka Dots
  • Ink:  PTI Summer Sunrise, Orange Zest, Spring Moss; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Gran's Garden; LID Stitched Rectangles

Papertrey June 2018 Create Along With Us...

Do you ever think you have a ton of flower stamps and then try to find one that'll work for your project and realize you actually need more flower stamps?😄 That's what happened when I tried to replicate this simple, but gorgeous card Betsy Veldman made.

For my card, I picked a flower from Mixed Bouquet. I started by stamping my sentiment in black ink and placed my flowers (sort of) in the same places as Betsy. The flowers are stamped in Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise and the stems in Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. The centers are also stamped in black ink.

I also used a stitching die around the edges and attached the panel to a white cardstock card base. It was a quick and simple card to make. Not nearly as nice as Betsy's, but a decent attempt.😎

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mixed Bouquet, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Reasons To Smile
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, New Leaf; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles

Papertrey March 2018 Blog Hop...

The months seem to be going quickly this year and winter is finally over and it's time for another Blog Hop challenge! This month's inspiration photo screams Spring to me! I love all the pastel colors and the beautiful blues that surround the photo. I concentrated on the tulips and the blue for my card.

On a panel of white cardstock, I stamped the tulips in Lovely Lady ink for the first layer, Lovely Lady (stamped 3 times) for the second layer and Hibiscus Burst ink for the third layer. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. Instead of tapping the ink on the stamps, I swiped it to give them a streaky look.

The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I took Spring Rain ink and rubbed it all around the flowers to mimic the blue background in the photo. I used a stitched rectangle on the panel and adhered it to a white cardstock card base. I added a little bit of glitter to the flower tips as my final step.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tulip Time, Keep It Simple: Sympathy
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Lovely Lady, Hibiscus Burst, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Smokey Shadow, Spring Rain
  • Dies:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Glitter

Peace On Earth...

Another tag for today - just a few more Christmas projects to post this week and then things will get back to normal.

Using a stitched rectangle die, I die-cut one in white cardstock and one in Ripe Avocado cardstock. On the white one, I rubbed Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky inks to create my background. I stamped the branches in Cocoa Bean, Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado inks, adding the berries in Pure Poppy ink.

The bird is die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Pure Poppy and black ink. I die-cut it 2 more times and stacked and glued them together. I flicked splatters on the background with white paint and stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink.

At the last minute, I added the name, placed on foam tape for dimension. Peppermint twine and a little glitter completed the tag.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Winter Woods, Christmas Critters, Believe, Type Strips II
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Ripe Avocado
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Cocoa Bean, Pure Poppy; Memento Tuxedo Black

Believe...

Sometimes tags take just as much time to make as a card!

I used Tag Sale #4 and die-cut it in Kraft and Pure Poppy cardstock. On a stitched circle die-cut in Dark Indigo cardstock, I stamped the snow in white ink. The circle is on fun foam for dimension.

The deer is die-cut in white cardstock four times and stacked together with the top one colored with Copic markers. I die-cut the banner in Pure Poppy cardstock, stamped "believe" in Versamark, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it.

I added snowflakes die-cut in white cardstock, adding clear sequins to the middle and maraschino twine for the tie.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Holiday Button Bits; MFT Dashing Deer; Altenew Snowing
  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select, Kraft, Dark Indigo
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Color Box Frost White; Versamark

Merry Christmas Repeat...

Here's another one of my repeating sentiments like I did in my November 12, 2017 post.

I used a white cardstock card base and added a snowflake pattern paper from Christmas prints. I cut a rectangle in Pure Poppy cardstock and one slighter smaller in white cardstock.

Using the MISTI, I stamped the sentiment 9 times in Pure Poppy ink and once in black ink. I attached both panels to the card base.

The snowflake is die-cut 4 times, 3 times in white cardstock and once in silver foil cardstock. I placed it on the card and added some white fun fur around the top. Remember snow = fun fur! 😀

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Merry Christmas
  • Paper:  PTI Christmas Prints, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select; DCWV Foil
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Snowflakes

Love Of Layers (MIM #305)...

Another week and another challenge! And it's the end of November!! 😳This week Laurie Schmidlin is the host and shows us how to use lots of layers on projects. You can watch her video here ↝ Make It Monday #305: Love Of Layers.

I decided to make a tag for this challenge and started by die-cutting Tag Sale: Quilted in a pattern paper, backed by white cardstock for a bit more support. I also die-cut the tag in Pure Poppy cardstock to use as a backer for the tag which has "to & from" stamped on it.

I cut a 3"x3" square of Pinefeather cardstock, backed it with fun foam and placed it inside the stitching on the tag. The stitched circle is die-cut in white cardstock, the sentiment stamped in Pure Poppy ink and placed on foam tape for additional dimension. The holly leaves are die-cut in white cardstock, stamped with Green Parakeet, New Leaf and Pure Poppy inks and backed with foam tape for even more dimension! It is fun making these multi-level dimensional projects! I added Pure Poppy twill ribbon for the tag tie.

I'm counting 6 layers on this tag: 1) the Pure Poppy back, 2) white cardstock backing the pattern paper, 3) pattern paper, 4) Pinefeather cardstock, 5) white cardstock, 6) holly leaves.😊

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Seasons Greetings, Christmas Critters
  • Paper:  PTI Christmas Prints, Pinefeather, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, New Leaf
  • Dies:  PTI Tag Sale: Quilted, Christmas Critters; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Circles

It's The Most Wonderful Time...

I hope it won't be long and there will be snowflakes falling outside my window. I'm hoping we get a little bit of snow this year after not having much last year.

This card uses MFT's Snowflake Splendor kit. I started with a panel of white cardstock, die-cut with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment in black ink.

The snowflakes were die-cut in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores cardstock and layered on top of each other, with a sequin added to the middle of each one. The panel is on a white cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI What The Doodle: Snowflakes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  MFT Snowflake Splendor; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles

Papertrey November 2017 Create Along With Us...

I was happy to see more snowflakes this month! I have a "thing" for snowmen and snowflakes and can't resist buying them!😎 I was inspired by this card that Michelle Leone made - I liked how her large snowflake was the center of attention with the plaid background.

For my card I started with a white cardstock card base with a layer of plaid pattern paper, both die-cut with the stitched dies in the A2 Noted Vertical set. Next I die-cut the stitched snowflake three times in white cardstock and glued them together.

The stitched banner is die-cut in Spring Rain cardstock and the sentiment stamped in Kraft ink. I added a clear snowflake embellishment to the center of the snowflake. Lots of stitching on this card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Christmas Critters Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI White STampers Select, Spring Rain; DCWV
  • Ink:  PTI Kraft
  • Dies:  PTI A2 Noted: Scalloped Vertical, Stitched Snowflake; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Sentiment Flag

The Joys Of Summer...

Well, for me, there really aren't many joys of summer when it's too hot to do anything. On the upside, eating ice cream in the hot weather is so refreshing!😋

This is a quick card made from Beautiful Berries: Summer. I started with a piece of white cardstock and stamped the berries in Amethyst Allure/Grape Jelly, Berry Sorbet/Pure Poppy and Blueberry Sky/Enchanted Evening. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet/New Leaf inks.

The panel was empty looking so I ran it through the Cuttlebug to give it a stitched border. The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

An easy, clean and simple card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Berries: Summer, Day At The Beach
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Amethyst Allure, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Blueberry Sky, Enchanted Evening, Green Parakeet, New Leaf; Memento Grape Jelly; Versafine Black Onyx

SAF 2017: 3rd Anniversary Tradition - Leather...

Day 2

8:00 AM Challenge:  "Create a project featuring faux leather."

Well, here I was again, trying to think outside the box because I don't have glycerin to use for this project. So I googled "how to make faux leather" and found a video where you rub coordinating ink on cardstock to give you a faux leather look. Thankfully, the challenge doesn't say we have to do it the way it was presented.

I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock and with my stamp pad, rubbed Kraft ink all over it. It does kind of look like leather, not as much as Ashley's version, but it'll do! Next, I stamped the sentiment in Dark Chocolate ink, several times using the Misti to make sure it was nice and dark. It even looks a little bit the way you see writing on leather, where it's not 100% solid.

I used a stitched rectangle die like Ashley did to give it a more authentic look. I placed the panel on fun foam and layered it on a piece of Enchanted Evening cardstock and adhered it to a Kraft cardstock card base.

Since it's a masculine card, I added jute around the spine. A few stitched stars in Enchanted Evening and Spring Rain cardstock finished things off. Must get some glycerin the next time I'm at the drug store and try doing this again.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Offbeat Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain
  • Ink:  PTI Dark Chocolate
  • Dies:  Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles, Stitched Stars
  • Other:  Fun Foam; Jute

Monochrome Color Pop (MIM #294)...

Another Monday and another challenge! It was nice to see that this week's technique was rather simple compared to last week!👍 Stephanie Gold is the host and shows us how to make a monochrome card with a pop of color. You can watch the video here ↪ Make It Monday #294: Monochrome Color Pop.

Today is rainy and a bit damp and reminds me of a Fall day and got me thinking about Halloween. And yes, I decided to make a Halloween card in August.

On white cardstock I stamped 2 of the gravestones in Soft Stone ink and 2 in Smokey Shadow ink, stamping the ink off once so it wouldn't be too dark. I added the sentiments on them in Smokey Shadow ink. The middle gravestone is die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Amethyst Allure ink. I die-cut it four times and stacked and glued it together for a little dimension.

Happy Halloween and the bats are stamped in Smokey Shadow and Soft Stone inks. I using a stitched rectangle die on the panel and adhered it to a white cardstock card base. Fun and easy to make!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Haunted Headstones
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow, Soft Stone, Amethyst Allure
  • Dies:  PTI Haunted Headstones; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles

Her Wings Were Ready...

I feel like I've been making more sympathy cards lately than normal. 😢 I thought Humming Along would be a good stamp set for this type of card.

On Kraft cardstock, die-cut with a stitched die, I stamped the Bleeding Hearts in Raspberry Fizz, Scarlet Jewel and Amethyst Allure inks. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks.

I die-cut the hummingbird in Kraft cardstock and stamped it in Amethyst Allure, Grape Jelly, Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. The beak and eye are stamped in black ink. I placed the bird on foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. It's hard to read the sentiment due to the font, but it says "her wings were ready, but our hearts were not". A lovely sentiment! I added some flicks of white and black paint to the card. To make the bird look like it's flying, I added a swoosh of purple ink behind it. The panel is adhered to a white cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Humming Along
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Scarlet Jewel, Amethyst Allure, Green Parakeet, New Leaf; Memento Grape Jelly, Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Humming Along; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Foam Tape; White Paint

Color Blocking Three Ways (MIM #292)...

It's time again for another challenge! This week Laurie Schmidlin shows us how to use color blocking three different ways! It sure is a quick and nice addition to card making. You can watch the video here ⇢ Make It Monday #292: Color Blocking Three Ways.

I decided to use cardstock for my color blocking and picked one of my favorite color combinations: Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart and Hawaiian Shores. I die-cut one of each using a diagonal die and adhered them to a white cardstock card base. The middle one is stamped with a sentiment from Keep It Simple: Friendship in Smokey Shadow ink and is on fun foam for dimension.

The two bouquets are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with coordinating ink colors. I added a little glitter to the flowers and filled in the small flower centers with a black marker.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Bouquet, Keep It Simple: Friendship
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Bitty Bouquet; Lil Inker Designs On The Diagonal

I'm trying to use some of my neglected stamps - there are so many of them! So I pulled out Simple Flowers to ink up again for this card.

On white cardstock, I stamped the flowers in Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores and Lulu Lavender inks. I ran the panel through the Cuttlebug with a stitched rectangle die.

The banner is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock and the sentiment stamped in black ink. I placed it on foam tape for dimension.

Quick and easy!

Papertrey Dec 2016 Create Along With Us...

I love this card Laurie Schmidlin made - it's so soft and delicate looking. I was inspired by the wreath and the scalloped edges. I'm still having fun making Christmas cards and used the new Sprig Wreath set for my card.

I die-cut the wreath in white cardstock and stamped it with Spring Moss and Ripe Avocado inks. I added the pine cones in Cocoa Bean ink and the little berries in Pure Poppy ink.

The wreath is on foam tape for dimension, adhered to a Soft Stone cardstock card base die-cut with the Scalloped A2 die. I stamped the sentiment in the middle with Pure Poppy ink.

I added a bow die-cut in Pure Poppy cardstock and glitter to finish the wreath.

Card Details:

Die-Cut Stencil Shapes (MIM #264)...

And yes, another week has gone by, that means it's time for a new MIM challenge. This week Melissa Phillips shows us how to use our dies as stencils in this video Make It Monday #264: Die-Cut Stencil Shapes. I'm happy because it gives me another way to use my dies!

I picked the snowflake from Phrase Play #9 and stenciled it onto white cardstock with Aqua Mist ink. I used a make-up brush to give them a very soft look. The snowflakes are so pretty in person I didn't really want to put anything else on the card!

I die-cut the hill in white cardstock and added a glitter line along the top. The sledder is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock 4 times and stacked together with a little pompom on the hat. I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink on a stitched banner and placed it on fun foam for dimension.

And because it's snow - I couldn't wait to get out my white fun fur to put on the top of the card! I think this wispy material goes great with snow!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Christmas Critters Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Phrase Play #9, In The Meadow; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Flag; MFT Snow Drifts

Joys Of Summer...

I can't name too many joys of summer right now with temps in the 90s - other than air conditioning!!  It's just too hot to do anything! I was looking through my wood stamps the other day and came across my Lockhart stamps and this one that I never used. I picked this sentiment for the card because swimming is a joy of summer to many people (although maybe not putting on a bathing suit! lol)

The image is stamped in black ink on a stitched rectangle and colored with Copics. I placed the rectangle on fun foam and adhered it to a white cardstock card base with a layer of polka dot pattern paper.

I tied a bit of crochet thread around it and it was done. Not much effort at all!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Day At The Beach; Lockhart 3 Bathing Suits
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Amuse Petite Polka Dots
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Copics:  BG10, BG13, BG15, R5, R27, Y6, YG11, YG13, YR15, W1
