Joys Of Summer...

I can't name too many joys of summer right now with temps in the 90s - other than air conditioning!!  It's just too hot to do anything! I was looking through my wood stamps the other day and came across my Lockhart stamps and this one that I never used. I picked this sentiment for the card because swimming is a joy of summer to many people (although maybe not putting on a bathing suit! lol)

The image is stamped in black ink on a stitched rectangle and colored with Copics. I placed the rectangle on fun foam and adhered it to a white cardstock card base with a layer of polka dot pattern paper.

I tied a bit of crochet thread around it and it was done. Not much effort at all!

Baby Carriage

I don't think I used this baby stamp before, and if I did, it's been a long time!  I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of pink cardstock and a layer of pink/green pattern paper, rounding the bottom corners.  Of course I made a matching boy card using blue cardstock and blue/green pattern paper.

I stamped the carriage on white cardstock and colored it with Copics.  The stamped image was placed on a scalloped rectangle cut from pink cardstock and I pierced the scallops.  The entire image was mounted on foam tape for dimension.  Last steps were adding the button threaded with ribbon tied in a bow and the sentiment.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Lockhart Baby Carriage; PTI Take Three Summer
  • Paper:  DCWV; Me & My Big Ideas
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities; Paper Piercer; Corner Rounder

Spring Birthday Arrangement

My favorite thing about this time of year is the flowers.  This Lockhart stamp, called "Spring Flowers", is so much fun to color because it has so many varieties of flowers.

I used white for the card base and added a layer of light purple and a layer of patterned purple.  I stamped the image on white and colored it with Copics.  The image was cut with circle nestabilities and layered onto a matching purple, scalloped circle; I paper pierced each scallop for a bit of variety.

I added the purple photo corners to really bring all the purple in the card together.  I stamped "happy birthday" onto a tag, tied a lilac bow on the end and adhered it to the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Lockhart "Spring Flowers"; PTI Fillable Frames #4
  • Paper:  DCWV; Bazzill
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; Martha Stewart Photo Corner Punch; Tag Trios Nestabilities; Paper Piercer

This is another stamp I've had for quite a while and thought it would be nice for an upcoming Spring or Summer birthday - "take time to relax.....and enjoy your birthday"!  The stamp is from Lockhart, called "Vintage Garden Chair" and it reminds me of the chairs we sat on when I was a kid. I used white for the cardbase, topped with a layer of bright blue patterned paper from Stampin' Up.  The image is colored with Copics and cut out with nestabilities.  As a final step I added a bit of jute on the card spine.

Tissue Box Get Well

It seems like it's been a while since I made a get well card.  For this card, I used ivory as the card base and topped it with a green, geometric pattern paper.  I stamped the Lockhart Tissue Box on ivory and colored it with Copics and cut it out using square nestabilities.  I added a scalloped border at the bottom, the sentiment and a couple of black metallic dots. I like the softness of this color green and think this card could be for either male or female.

This is for a friend on my craft board - she just told me she likes brown so I thought I'd make a brown card and mix it with some pink.  This is a Lockhart stamp called "Cupcake With Bow".  I used brown for the card base and topped it with a pink and brown polka dot pattern paper.  I stamped the cupcakes and colored them with Copics, adding some glitter on the cupcakes and silver sparkle on the bow.  The middle cupcake is raised with 3d foamies and I added a ribbon.  Happy Birthday Chong!

Peach Peonies

I really have been getting a lot of use from this Peonies Lockhart stamp!   I started with a white card base and topped it with a layer of peach colored pattern paper; the paper was double sided and I used the back to make the striped strip on the left hand side.  The image is colored with copics and cut out with oval deckled nestabilities.  I added the tag, ribbon and metal embellishments.

Hydrangea & Berries

This is Hydrangea and Berries by Lockhart.  The card base is white and I used two different pattern papers to layer it - one with tiny circles and the other striped.  I covered where they met with a green eyelet border  using a Martha Stewart punch (I thought the green brought out the flowers).  The stamp image is colored with Copics and I used my new Diamond nestabilities to cut it out.  I put a little glitter on the flowers, stamped Get Well Soon and added the pearls as a final touch.

Basket of Leaves

This is one of my new Lockhart stamps called "Basket of Leaves".  When I first saw this stamp, I knew I had to have it...I just love all the details on this stamp!  I used Kraft for the card base, topped with a layer of polka dot orange.  The image is colored with Copics, and it's a bit hard to tell, but I used Flower Soft on the flowers at the bottom left and right of the basket.  The image is cut out with Labels Fifteen nestabilities.  For embellishments, I added three orange crystals and white ribbon.

Anniversary Wishes

I made this for friends of my parents who are celebrating their sixth wedding anniversary.  The card base is Lemon Tart, layered with a multi-colored stripe paper.  The pear stamp is from Lockhart, colored with Copics, the gold corners are Anita stickers and the border is a Martha Stewart punch.  The sentiment was made on the computer.

Rose of Sharon

Looking through my craft drawer the other day, I found a tool I haven't used in a long time....a crimper.  For this card, the base is Melon Berry, and I ran the Sweet Blush background paper through the crimper to give it a waffled look; it's a nice and easy effect!  The stamp is Lockhart's Rose of Sharon, colored with copics and cut out with oval nestabilities.  I sprinkled a little glitter on the flowers, added the sizzlet corner decoration with a couple pearls and some polka dot ribbon.  Happy Birthday Christine!

Patio Lavender

This is using one of my new nesties sets - Lacey Circles.  The card base is Plum Pudding, topped with a piece of lavender paper and then a striped lavender/ivory/sage paper.  The stamp image is Lockhart's Patio Lavender colored with Copics and sprinkled with a little glitter.  I mounted the image on the circle nestie, then curled the edges up for a 3D effect.  I added the lavender bow, sentiment and lavender crystals.

Get Well Plant

This is a Karen Lockhart stamp called "Phalaenopsis".  I started with a white card base, a layer of light green and topped it with patterned paper of green and pink circles (which matches the green and pink perfectly!).  The stamp is colored with Copics and cut out with deckled rectangle nesties.  I decided to make this a "get well" card; stamped the sentiment and cut it, added a flower brad and some ribbon.  There's also a sprinling of white glitter on the plant flowers (which doesn't show up in the picture).

Perfect Pair Anniversary

The card base is PTI's Lemon Tart and the striped paper (I think) is My Mind's Eye. This stamp is from  Lockhart; I colored it with Copics and put a little glitter on the tops of the pears.  The ovals are cut with nestabilities, the gold hearts are Anita stickers and I printed the sentiment on my computer.

Happy Birthday, Mom!!

My mom loves flowers so I knew I had to use this new Lockhart stamp called "Spring Flowers" for her card.  The card base is white, then layered with 2 different colors of coordinating green paper from a Hot Off  the Press stack.  The stamp image is colored with Copics and I glittered the tips of the tulips, crocuses and bottom of the flower pot (which you can't see!).  The image and layer is cut with Labels Four nestabilities and I added a few dew drops and ribbon for embellishments.

A friend of mine just got a job after being out of work for some time and I wanted to wish him luck.  This is a Karen Lockhart stamp that I colored with Copics; the dies are cut out with oval nestibilities.  The chocolate cardstock and patterned paper is from PTI, ribbon is from Taylored Expressions and the sentiment was created on the computer.

Tulips In Window

My friend slipped on the ice Saturday as she was leaving her house and broke her ankle.  She had surgery yesterday and will be off her feet for a bit so I thought this card would cheer her up.  It reminds me of Spring - tulips and springlike colors.  This is a newly released Lockhart stamp called Tulip Window.  The paper is Heidi Grace and the rectangles are cut with nestabilities.  I also put some Flower Soft on the vines to give the card some additional dimension.
