Pumpkin Stamps 3 Ways (MIM #262)...

I wasn't sure if we were supposed to make all three techniques or pick one in this week's Make It Monday #262: Pumpkin Stamps 3 Ways. Ashley Cannon Newell shows us how to use pumpkin stamps to make a traditional, unique and trendy type of card in the video. It's interesting and fun to look at the "unique" ideas that have been entered in the contest on Nichole's blog - people are so clever!

For my traditional card, I started with a white card base and stamped the background with a crackled look using Fine Linen ink. I added the strip of pattern paper on the right side which also has a crackled background.

The pumpkins were die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Summer Sunrise, Morocco and Potter's Clay inks (small pumpkin is die-cut three times and stacked). I stamped the curly-q's in Dark Chocolate ink and the stems in Dark Chocolate or Kraft inks. Finally, the banner is die-cut in Terracotta Tile cardstock three times and stacked, with the sentiment stamped in Dark Chocolate ink.

A bit of glitter on the pumpkins and jute tied around the top completed this card.

I used the same stamp set for my unique card to create a flower, die-cutting 4 pumpkins in white cardstock for the petals. I stamped them in Aqua Mist ink, stamping the center of the pumpkin several times (with the help of the Misti) to give it a darker color.

The leaves are die-cut in Spring Moss cardstock using the new Fancy Foliage dies. I arranged the leaves on a panel of white cardstock with stitching around the edges, adding a Lemon Tart stitched button center with gold floss tied through the buttonholes. The petal and leaves are curled for a little bit of dimension.

I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink and added glitter to the petals to finish the card.

And finally I made a trendy card using the same pumpkin set. I added a layer of plaid pattern paper onto an Orange Zest cardstock card base, placing a doily on top and stamping the sentiment in Dark Chocolate ink.

The pumpkins were die-cut in white cardstock and stamped in Kraft, Aqua Mist and Morocco inks, with the faces in black ink. October is die-cut three times in Orange Zest cardstock and stacked together. My last step was adding white crochet twine.

I'm not sure why I'm calling this trendy - is it the doily or the idea of using a couple of non-traditional pumpkin colors?

Papertrey September 2016 Blog Hop Challenge...

I like the inspiration photo for this month - it's getting me in the mood for the holidays! It's just a very simple picture, with dark brown, greens, kraft, pinecones and jute! Definitely an easy picture to get inspiration from - a nice array of masculine colors is what I see.

I pulled out the Noted: Scalloped A2 dies and cut the card base in the new Olive Twist color. The next layer is Kraft cardstock with the center cut out. I love all the stitching on these dies! On Vintage Cream cardstock, I stamped the boughs in Olive Twist and Cocoa Bean inks. The pinecones and the sentiment are also stamped in Cocoa Bean.

I placed the Kraft layer on fun foam for added dimension. Jute tied around the spine and glitter on the pinecones completes another Christmas card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Peaceful Pinecones
  • Paper:  PTI Olive Twist, Kraft, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  PTI Olive Twist, Cocoa Bean
  • Dies:  PTI Noted: Scalloped A2 Collection, Peaceful Pinecones

Using Florals on a Masculine Project (MIM #261)...

Well, leave it to Betsy Veldman to really stump me with this week's challenge - Make It Monday #261: Using Florals on a Masculine Project. Sometimes it's hard enough to make a masculine card, let alone add florals to it! Isn't there some unwritten craft law that glitter, ribbon and flowers are a no-no on masculine cards? lol

My Color Pop Autumn kit has been sitting on my craft table unused for too long and I thought it would be perfect for this challenge. I hope that the berries count as a floral for this challenge!

I started with a piece of white cardstock and added a strip of woodgrain paper down the left side and a strip of Enchanted Evening cardstock. The leaves, berries and acorns are die-cut in white cardstock and colored using the stencils in the kit. I really like the variety of bright colors I used on this! And this kit is so much fun, well, all of the "Color Pop" kits are fun to use!

The two larger leaves are die-cut three times and stacked together as well as the banner, which is die-cut in Kraft cardstock with the sentiment stamped in Enchanted Evening ink. My last minute addition was adding the jute. I'm so happy with the way this one turned out and what a perfect card to post on the first day of Fall!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop: Autumn Make It Market Mini Kit
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Kraft, Enchanted Evening; Amuse Woodgrain
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Summer Sunrise, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Stormy Sea, Ocean Tides, Kraft, Dark Chocolate; Memento Nautical Blue, Morocco
  • Dies:  PTI Color Pop: Autumn Make It Market Mini Kit
  • Other:  Jute
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

It's Your Birthday...

Here's another quick card using dimension stickers - it's so nice to finally have a reason to use some of these stickers!

I arranged the dress and accessories on a white cardstock card base. I die-cut the banner, stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink and placed it on fun foam.

There was a lot of white space showing so I stamped Harvest Gold splatters to fill it in.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Good Times, Script Swirls: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Harvest Gold
  • Dies:  PTI Sketched Shapes

Birthdays Are For Celebrating...

Here's a very quick and simple card.

I placed polka dot pattern paper on a white cardstock card base. The sentiment is stamped in black ink on a rectangle die-cut from Pure Poppy cardstock and placed on foam tape for dimension.

And that's all I can say because the card is done!

Papertrey Sep 2016 Create Along With Us...

I don't normally participate in this challenge, but with the weather just a tad cooler I was in the mood to make a Christmas card today. And there's so much inspiration to choose from this month! My influence came from Laurie Willison's simple card of greenery, a touch of gold and sentiment.

I used the branch from Spruce & Sprigs and stamped them in Ripe Avocado ink. The branch almost looks the same as the one in the new Holiday Greens set, don't you think? I added the berries from Mistletoe & Holly in Pure Poppy ink. I liked these since they were a little smaller than the berries in Spruce & Springs.

Merry is die-cut three times, twice in white cardstock and once in Luxe Gold Adhesive paper. Funny story about the gold paper. I die-cut Merry and was trying to pull off the adhesive paper. Couldn't get it to come off and started getting really annoyed. I was ready to post something on the PTI Forum - "how do you get this #@%& paper off!!!" when I realized I'm not using the adhesive paper, but another gold paper that isn't adhesive. Oops.....lol

I added a strip of gold under the sentiment and glitter (which is hard to see in the picture) to the branches. The panel is on a Ripe Avocado cardstock card base with a bit of the card base showing on the left side.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Spruce & Sprigs, Mistletoe & Holly
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Ripe Avocado, Luxe Gold Adhesive
  • Ink:  PTI Ripe Avocado, Pure Poppy
  • Dies:  PTI Wonderful Words: Holiday
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending Sunshine and Smiles...

I resisted as long as I could without buying the Doodlie-Do stamp set. But I keep seeing so many beautiful cards made with it that I finally decided I needed to own it too.

I started with a white cardstock card base and stenciled the background with Aqua Mist ink. I stamped the flower and leaves on white cardstock and colored them with Copics. I fussy cut the flowers and leaves and placed them on foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink and I added a few clusters of clear sequins to finish the card.

 Card Details:
  • Stamps: PTI Doodlie-Do
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist; Versafine Black Onyx
  • Copics:  BG10, BG15, G24, G28, R20, R22, R24
  • Tools:  PTI Modern Background Stencil

Wishing You All The Best...

It's been a while since I used purple ink so I pulled out my Color Pop Butterflies kit for this one.

Using the butterfly stencil, I applied Amethyst Allure ink, blending it to give the appearance of lighter and darker shades of purple. With the next stencil, I applied Raspberry Fizz ink for the flowers and Spring Moss ink for the leaves.

To add the next layers, I stamped the butterflies with Smokey Shadow ink, the flowers with Hibiscus Burst ink and the leaves with Simply Chartreuse ink.

I cut a strip of Simply Chartreuse cardstock and stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink. The sentiment is on fun foam for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop Butterflies Make It Market Mini Kit, The Skinny
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Simply Chartreuse
  • Ink:  PTI Amethyst Allure, Smokey Shadow, Raspberry Fizz, Hibiscus Burst, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse

Way To Go!...

PTI continues to release these cute "Splits" stamps and coordinating dies each month. They're fun to make a quick card with!

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of polka dot pattern paper, leaving the edges showing on the right and bottom sides.

The split is die-cut in white cardstock three times and glued together for a little dimension. The image is stamped in black ink and the blocks with Pure Poppy, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Hawaiian Shores and Green Parakeet inks. I stamped the sentiment with black ink and added the arrows in Pure Poppy ink.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Splits: Way To Go, Bubble Talk

From Black & White To Color (MIM #260)...

I can't believe it's Monday again and time for another challenge! This week Danielle Flanders shows us how to do black and white stamping with a pop of color. You can watch her work her magic in this video - Make It Monday #260: From Black & White To Color

Harvest Berries doesn't owe me a thing, I certainly have used this set many, many times over the years! I die-cut the stitched oval in the center of a piece of A2 size white cardstock. Keeping the die-cut in the panel and using black ink, I stamped the sentiment and the leaves around it. I used Danielle's idea and heat embossed everything with clear embossing powder. Boy, did it make it the ink super black! lol

I used Copic markers on the larger leaves to do some partial coloring in oranges and greens. The one cluster of small leaves is solid black. All of the leaves are outlined with a warm grey color. I popped up the oval on fun foam and placed the entire panel on a white cardstock card base with a thin strip of orange striped paper on the right side.

To finish things, I tied white crochet thread around the top. It was really hard to get a good picture of this card but hopefully you get the idea...it's much prettier in person, especially with the black embossing!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Harvest Berries, Choose Joy
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Orange Zest Stripes
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics: YG93, YG95, YR15, YR18, W1
  • Dies:  PTI Noted: Scalloped A2 Note Collection
  • Tools:  Heat Tool
  • Other:  PTI Filigree Powder; Crochet Thread; Fun Foam
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Grand Slam...

A little break in the weather today due to Hermine coming up the coast - it's a bit overcast and much cooler. Definitely a teaser to Fall...but it won't last as the temps are supposed to go up into the 90s again by mid week. Ugh.

This is another quick card I made with dimensional stickers. I placed them on a piece of white cardstock with 4 lines scored at the bottom to help fill in some of the space. The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

I placed the panel on a Pure Poppy cardstock card base, leaving some of it showing on the left side. Quick and simple!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 7th Inning Stretch
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Pure Poppy
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Scor-Pal
  • Other:  Sandy Lion Essentials Stickers
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Just Because...

And another quick and simple card for today! I do envy those who make CAS cards all the time!

I placed a layer of Cosmo Cricket pattern paper on top of a white cardstock card base. I die-cut the frame in Simply Chartreuse cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black ink. I die-cut the frame again and used only the white border for around the sentiment.

The frame is on foam tape for dimension. I added one of my favorite little bees to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Altenew Painted Greetings
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Simply Chartreuse; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Keep It Simple Frames
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Jolee Bee
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
