{Happy Birthday}

My friend (thank you Chong!) just sent me some new Stampin' Up patterned paper, a lot of which is great for masculine cards!  I used True Black for the card base and topped it with a layer of Scarlet Jewel and a layer of a light beige and brown patterned paper.  I made a die cut using Mat Stack 3, stamped it with rhubarb ink and added the sentiment in black.  The gift and border on the bottom were made with dies, and then I added two silver metal adhesive dots and the twine.  I love how all these colors go so well together and I'm really happy with how this card turned out!  Happy Birthday Ed!

Happy Birthday Train

I was looking through some old Cards magazines and saw this cute card and realized I had the same paper to make it.  The card base is white and topped with 5 strips of assorted patterned paper, with white edging in between each strip.  I wanted the train to be the highlight of the card so obviously put that one in the middle.  I stamped the sentiment on the star, added a few more little stars and twine. This makes a cute little boy card, but any type of paper could be used for another occasion.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Limitless Labels
  • Paper:  DCWV Nana's Kids
  • Tools:  Stampin' Up Star Punches, Fiskars Edger

Welcome Fall

Today is the first day of Fall....yippee!!  No one is happier than me to see the hot summer end!  Fall is my favorite time of the year - I can already see some of the leaves starting to change!  For this card, I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of Scarlet Jewel and a piece of leafy patterned paper.  I stamped the wreath in brown ink onto a die cut and added the berries in cantaloupe and green inks.  I stamped the tiny flowers in rhubarb ink, added a pearl drop to the middle and then sprinkled the entire wreath with glitter.  Instead of tying a ribbon around the card, I decided to put a tiny bow on it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wreath For All Seasons
  • Paper:  PTI Scarlet Jewel, Fall Prints & Patterns
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 5 Die, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Pearl Pen, Martha Stewart Glitter, Ribbon

Peaceful Happy Birthday

Another card I saw on Nichole's blog that I had to make!  I used Kraft for the card base, edged around it and then stamped the polka dots in white ink.  The image is cut with ivory cardstock using Mat Stack 5.  I stamped the grass in two colors of beige, the flowers in 2 colors of blue (my friend's favorite color!) and edged around the top of the die cut in blue to create a sky illusion.  I stamped the sentiment and underlined it, added some glitter on the flowers, embroidery thread, and the butterfly (after I took the picture I added a few pearls to the center of the butterfly).  Happy Birthday Kathy!

Happy Anniversary

Here's another card using the ginkgo leaves from Harvest Berries.  The card base is Plum Pudding topped with white cardstock.  I stamped the leaves in a light purple ink, the berries in a dark purple and then edged around the white with light purple.  After adding the sentiment and ribbon, I decided to add the "love" tag and some glitter on the bottom of the leaves.  I really like how simple, yet delicate this card looks!

You Know You're Old When....

This stamp set makes me laugh at getting older - we can't stop it from happening, so may as well just enjoy it.  I used white for the card base and topped with with a layer of solid red, red pattern and a strip of gray.  The image was stamped and colored with Copics and placed on black cardstock.  It needed something else so I added the twine.  The inside of the card says "getting lucky means you found your car in the parking lot".

Engagement Congrats

I'm still trying to use some of the new stamps I bought over the past couple months!  This is another release from PTI called Mehndi Medallion, which makes a nice background pattern.  I used white for the card base and topped it with layers of Raspberry Fizz and black.  I stamped white cardstock with large medallions in light pink and small medallions in dark pink.  I placed a pearl in the middle of the small medallions, stamped the sentiment and added a touch of pink ribbon.

It's A Girl! and It's A Boy!

It seems like I've been making a lot of baby cards lately - must be something in the water!  I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of pink/blue and then patterned "It's A Girl/Boy" paper.  I stamped the bear on white, colored it with Copics and mounted it onto a scalloped oval.  I tied white/blue ribbon around the spine and added two tags, that I edged with pink/blue ink, and tied them on with twine.  My last step was to add a couple matching rhinestones.

  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Beary Special, PTI Limitless Labels
  • Paper:  DCWV, Joann's

Iconic Bird

This is another card that I saw on Nichole's blog and thought it was so delicate looking.  The card base is Aqua Mist, scored and folded, and then I cut 1/2 inch off the right hand side.  I stamped the bird and leaves on Vintage Cream cardstock, added the sentiment and distressed the edges.  I added a strip of Vintage Cream on the right hand side and stamped it with coordinating leaves from the front of the card.  It still needed a little something (hehe) so I added white glitter to the leaves.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Iconic Images
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Vintage Cream
  • Tools:  Paper Distresser
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Glitter

I'm trying to use stamps I've had but haven't used...and this I've had for quite some time - Taylored Expressions "Beary Special" set.  I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of brown, a layer of green and matching green pattern paper.  The dog is stamped on white, colored with Copics and layered on brown.  I added the party hat, stamped on the pattern paper, and a white pompom I inked with light brown ink.  The sentiment, leafy vine border and dew drops were the final steps.

With Sympathy

This is one of my favorite new sets from PTI - it's called Harvest Berries, but the main stamps are ginkgo leaves (which can be used for any type of card).  I saw this red and black card on Nichole's blog and thought it was stunning so wanted to make one for myself.  I used True Black for the card base and stamped the ginkgo leaves in black ink onto Pure Poppy.  I added some smaller flowers in white ink and used a pearl pen for the centers and put a layer of white between the red and black cardstock.  Finally I added the sentiment tied with thin, black ribbon.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Harvest Berries, Flower Fusion 7, Botanical Silhouettes
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, Pure Poppy
  • Tools:  Tag Trio Nestabilities
  • Other:  Pearl Pen, Offray Ribbon

Happy, Happy 1st Birthday

Sometimes it's easy for me to make a kid's birthday card and sometimes I struggle; luckily the idea for this card came quickly.  I used navy blue for the card base and topped it with a cute little boyish pattern paper. I cut the zigzag strip of green for the bottom, added a blue layer behind it and stamped the sentiment.  I had a leftover Jolee's car sticker and slapped that on too.  I cut two "ones" and layered them on top of a die cut, added a couple stars and the ribbon.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, Spring Moss, DCWV
  • Tools:  PTI By The Numbers Die, Fillable Frames #10 Die; EK Success Zigzag Stitch Punch, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Sheer Creations Ribbon, Adhesive Stars, Jolee's Stickers
  • Card Size:  5.5" x 5.5"

Congrats

I made this card for no particular reason other than to have it on hand in case it's needed.  The House Mouse "In A Nutshell" stamp is colored with Copics; I stamped the blue sky in the background with a dauber.  The image is mounted on a piece of Spring Rain cardstock and layered on a multi-colored SU pattern paper.  I added a strip of Vintage Cream and stamped "congrats" anchored by blue rhinestones.
