Papertrey April 2017 Create Along With Us...

There's no Make It Monday this week because PTI is showcasing products for their April release. We can play along by creating a project that is inspired by something during the release. I'm seeing flowers and pastel colors and that's what I used for my card.

On a piece of white cardstock, I lightly brushed Aqua Mist ink on a Garden Gate stencil to give me the lattice looking background. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base, layered with Lemon Tart leaves pattern paper.

I die-cut the flower in white cardstock and stamped it with Hawaiian Shores, Spring Moss and Lemon Tart inks. I used the Misti so I could get a good, solid stamp color when I added the second layer of flower and leaf accents. The flower is adhered with foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. To finish the flower, I added dots to the Lemon Tart flowers with a thin, black marker and tied white crochet thread around the stem.

I thought this would make a nice Mother's Day card.

Here Comes The Easter Bunny...

It just doesn't seem possible that Easter is right around the corner. Wasn't it just Valentine's Day? 😏

On white cardstock, I stenciled the background on the top portion of the card with Summer Sunrise ink. I added a strip of Egg Hunt pattern paper at the top and bottom (gotta use that pattern paper!!) The sentiment is stamped in black, Spring Moss and Sweet Plum inks - using the Misti really ensured a straight sentiment!

The bunny is die-cut three times, twice in white cardstock and once in Spring Moss stripes. I added the bunny tail, also die-cut three times and stacked together. To finish the card, I tied orchid twine around the top.

Stamping Outside Of The Box (MIM #280)...

It seems hard to believe another week has gone by and we have a new Make It Monday! Lexi Daly is the host for Make It Monday #280: Stamping Outside Of The Box, where she shows us a few tips on using a box and die-cuts.

I have a few new stamp sets sitting on my desk that haven't been used yet, one is Celebrate Big, a free set offered at the end of last year. And the other is Offbeat Birthday which has some really nice, clever and funny sentiments in it.

Celebrate is die-cut in white cardstock three times and stacked together for a little dimension, with the top layer stamped in Raspberry Fizz ink. For my box, I used a rectangle of Confetti Toss pattern paper, placing it on the left side of the white cardstock card base. I stamped the sentiment underneath in Smokey Shadow ink.

I placed two shades of pink sequins on the card to mimic the bubbles in the pattern paper. This technique is really an easy way to make a quick and fun looking card.

Friends Forever...

I saw this technique of "Easy Ombre Backgrounds" on Jennifer McGuire's blog and thought I'd give it a try. It was easy, so if you'd like to give it a try, you can watch her video here ➜ Easy Ombre Backgrounds.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and stamped the flower outlines in Versamark ink, sprinkled them with white embossing powder and heat set them. Next, I rubbed Abandoned Coral distress ink over top, trying to make an ombre look of dark to light from the bottom to top. I really like the look of ink rubbed over embossing!

Friends is die-cut in white cardstock three times and stacked together. I also rubbed ink over it to give it a coordinating ombre look. Forever is stamped on black cardstock in Versamark and heat set with white embossing powder. I placed it on fun foam for dimension. The entire panel is placed on a black cardstock card base.

I'm not too happy with the color of the "white" embossing powder used here. It's Zing, and it's more of an off white to me. I have since bought a couple of very white embossing powders that I'm much happier with, so I'll be trying this technique again very shortly.

Some Bunny Loves You...

It won't be too long and Easter will be here. SAS4K is currently requesting Easter cards so I wanted to get a jump start on making them. This card is similar to one Heather Nichols made years ago when the Hippity Hoppity set was first released.

On white cardstock, I stamped the flowers in Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Harvest Gold and Green Parakeet inks, adding black ink to the centers. The sentiment is also stamped in black ink.

I die-cut the bunny in white cardstock, stamped the outline in black and colored his ears and nose with a Copic marker. I die-cut the bunny two more times, stacked and glued them together for a little dimension.

I rounded the corners and placed the panel on a white cardstock card base, covered with striped pattern paper. I added a nice, fluffy pompom to finish the card.

Curved Sentiments (MIM #279)...

This week's Make It Monday is hosted by Ashley Newell where she shows us another way to use sentiment stamps by curving them. You can watch the her video here ➼ Make It Monday #279: Curved Sentiments.

I placed a Modern Background stencil over white cardstock, and using a make-up brush and Aqua Mist ink, lightly applied the ink to make a patterned background. The panel is adhered to a Pure Poppy cardstock card base, with some of it showing on the right side.

I die-cut the flower bouquet in white cardstock and stenciled or stamped it in a variety of inks (listed below). The main colors I used for the flowers are Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy, one of my favorite color combinations. I also die-cut a few of the larger flowers, stamped and placed them on foam tape for dimension.

The flowerpot is die-cut in Pure Poppy cardstock and trimmed with Aqua Mist and Berry Sorbet cardstock. Aren't these cute little additions to help dress up the flowerpot?  That Betsy Veldman is so creative!

The bouquet is also on foam tape. Finally, I stamped the sentiment in black ink, curving it on my clear block.

You're My Star...

Just a quick card for today.

On white cardstock I stenciled the stars in Pure Poppy ink and placed the panel on a Bright Buttercup cardstock card base.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink on a die-cut made with Treat Bag Tag Liners, outlined with Bright Buttercup ink and on foam tape for added dimension. A few wraps of crochet twine completes the card.

Just Sitting Here...

I'm trying to sneak in one more "winter" type card before the weather gets too warm. I'm using one of my favorite MFT sets on this, Polar Bear Pals.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and lightly brushed Aqua Mist ink over it with a make-up brush. Next, I stamped the snow with Versamark, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it.

The bear is die-cut in white cardstock, the outline stamped in black ink and his scarf colored with Copic markers. I added a little pink color to his cheeks and ears. After all, it must be chilly sitting there!

The mountain is die-cut in watercolor paper, and since it has texture to it I thought it looked more like snow. I dipped the tops of the mountains in Versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set it. I know, it's hard to see that in the picture.

I die-cut the clouds and lightly edged them with Aqua Mist ink. The bear is on foam tape for dimension. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a bit of glitter to the mountain tops. The panel is on a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base. I will say the bear sure looks happy!

Papertrey March 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

Time for another Blog Hop and this month's photo inspiration gave me lots of ideas! Look at all those flowers and colors! I have many flower sets, the hardest part was choosing which one to use. I picked Color Pop Florals simply because I haven't used it for a while and was in the mood to do a little stenciling.

On white cardstock I stenciled the large flowers in Spring Rain with Enchanted Evening ink centers. The smaller flowers are stenciled in Hibiscus Burst with Raspberry Fizz ink centers. I didn't want to do a traditional green leaf and saw what look to me as grey in the photo and did the leaves in Soft Stone ink. I think I just created a new favorite color combo for me!

After my stenciling was completed, I decided to die-cut a few of the large flowers, stencil them and place them on the card with foam tape for some added dimension. The banner is die-cut in Hibiscus Burst cardstock and the sentiment stamped in Enchanted Evening ink. The banner is on fun foam for dimension.

I placed the entire panel on a Dark Indigo cardstock card base with a strip of it showing on the left side. I thought this made a nice, simple Mother's Day card.

Sending Heartfelt Sympathy...

I needed to make a sympathy card and pulled out one of my favorite sets, Harvest Berries. This set is nice for any type of card.

On white linen cardstock I stamped the leaves in Spring Moss ink. I wanted to accent the leaves a little more and used a Copic marker to darken the bottom of the leaves. This simple step really adds depth to the leaves.

The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base with a strip of Spring Moss stripes along the right side.

Window Chipboard Sentiments (MIM #278)...

It seems like a long time since we had a MIM, even though it's only been two weeks. This week Stephanie Gold hosts for the first time and introduces chipboard sentiments, which can be viewed here ➜ Make It Monday #278: Window Chipboard Sentiments. When I read the title I was wondering if I had chipboard and where it might be...but luckily Stephanie shows us how to make our own.

On white cardstock I die-cut the word "celebrate" into the top portion of the card and removed the word die-cut. Next, I stamped a bunch of streamers in Enchanted Evening, New Leaf, Spring Rain, Summer Sunrise and Pure Poppy inks. 

Celebrate is die-cut in Kraft cardstock 4 times, stacked and glued together. I nested it back into the negative of the die-cut. gluing it to the inside of the card base. I didn't add anything else to the card since I wanted to keep it rather simple to not take away from the main focus of the sentiment.

Happy Anniversary...

Happy Spring! I really think Painted Petals is my favorite PTI anniversary set! It's so easy to use and makes some amazing looking flowers. I can't wait to see what the new set will be for 2017!

I started with a piece of white cardstock and stenciled the background in Cantaloupe ink. Next I stamped the flower in two shades of purple ink, adding the center in Cantaloupe ink. The leaves are stamped in Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks. To add some brightness, I stamped the flower centers and a few small flowers in Raspberry Fizz ink.

I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink and placed the panel on a Plum Pudding cardstock card base. I also added a bit of glitter to the larger flower center.
