baby

I saw an idea similar to this on Pinterest and changed it up a bit.  I used white for the card base and added a layer of Bitty Baby Blessings pattern paper, rounding the bottom corners.  I cut the scalloped squares in Spring Moss and the letters in white.  Both "b" letters are on foam tape for dimension.  I added the white ribbon and the card was done!  A cute and quick card.

Happy Birthday Balloons

Aqua Mist is becoming one of my all time favorite colors from PTI and I find I'm using it more and more.  I used it on this as the card base rounding the bottom corners.  I topped it with a layer of white cardstock that I ran through the Cuttlebug with a striped embossing folder.

I stamped the balloon strings onto the white cardstock.  Next, I die cut the balloons in differents colors of polka dot pattern paper and adhered them to the white cardstock on 3d foam tape for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment and the card was done.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #2
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Happy Spots
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder; PTI Heart-2-Heart #2 Die; Cuttlebug "Stripes" Embossing Folder

Wishing You Happiness (CAS #9)

I was in the mood to make another simple card and created this one.  I stamped the leaves onto white cardstock, stamping in two different shades of green ink.  I added the flowers and the sentiment and ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug using my Linen Impression plate.

I rounded the corners and adhered it to a Melon Berry card base.  I punched out a couple of butterflies and added gems to the flower centers.  I really like this color combination!

Have Your Cake and Eat It Too!

PTI has some of the nicest, unique card edgers and this is their latest set - it looks like file folder tabs!  Changing the edge on a card really adds an extra something to it.

I used Kraft for the card base using the card edgers to create a top right hand tab.  I edged around the Kraft with white ink and stamped "birthday" on the tab.  I cut the blue/brown striped paper, rounded the corners and added a strip of solid blue along the left hand side of the card.

I used the new PTI Framed Out #1 die to create the square the cupcake is on, keeping the back solid blue and the middle Kraft.  I adhered the cupcake to it and stamped the stars on the striped paper along with the sentiment in blue and brown inks.  The sentiment has a tiny brad next to it.

Naturally I had to make a female version of the card too!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Piece of Cake, Mailbox Greetings, Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Enchanted Evening; Heidi Grace
  • Tools:  PTI Card Edgers #5, Framed Out #1 Die; Corner Rounder

Celebrate Today

I don't think I've ever used this Rustic Branches stamp set and I've had it for almost 4 years!  It's one of those things when I saw it, I "had to have it" and then didn't really know what to do with it.  Oh well, at least I'm using it now!

I used the branch wreath to stamp a background pattern on Spring Moss cardstock and rounded the bottom corners.  I then cut a "postage" diecut in Rustic Cream cardstock and edged around it with tea dye ink.  I stamped the flowers, using the branch in the set as the stems, adding a gem to each flower center.  I stamped the butterfly, sentiment and tied Orchid twine around the bottom.  The image was adhered to the card base with 3d foam tape for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Rustic Branches, Flower Fusion #7, Limitless Labels, Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss, Rustic Cream
  • Tools:  Postage Nestabilities, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine, Gems

Tulips Birthday

It's been a while since I used this stamp - I actually don't own this stamp set but made images of it when I borrowed it from a friend.  For this card I used Summer Sunrise cardstock for the card base and added a layer of striped green/goldish pattern paper.  I rounded the bottom corners of the card.

The tulips were stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copics.  I cut the image into a circle and layered it on a scalloped circle, paper piercing each scallop.  The scalloped is adhered to the pattern paper with 3d foam tape for dimension.  I tied Cantaloupe twine around the bottom of the card and added the tag with "birthday wishes" stamped on it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendship Jar Spring Fillers, Mixed Messages
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise; DCWV
  • Tools:  Standard Circle & Scalloped Nestabilities; Corner Rounder; PTI Tiny Tags Die; Paper Piercer

Birdhouses Birthday

Bird Watching is another set I've had and really haven't used, so it was time to make something with it!  I stamped the bird houses and grass onto white cardstock and colored them with Copics.  I used a paper distresser around the white and then stamped the bird and sentiment in black ink.

I rounded the corners and mounted it onto a light, blue cardstock.  I tied Honeydew twine around the bottom, added 3d foam squares and mounted it onto a multi striped pattern paper.  This was layered onto green paper on top of the white card base, rounding the bottom corners as well.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bird Watching
  • Paper:  DCWV Spring Fling & Summer Days, DCWV
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder; Distresser
  • Other:  Twine; Copics, 3D Foam Squares

Wishing You Well (CAS #8)

I was in the mood to make a quick get well card and for some reason chose Chartreuse cardstock to work with.  I stamped the leaves in Pear Tart ink onto white cardstock, once with full ink and then again without reinking the stamp.

I stamped the berries in Sahara Sand ink and ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug using my Canvas Impression Plate.  I stamped the sentiment, tied white, sheer ribbon around the card and added a little bit of glitter to the leaves.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Harvest Berries, Think Big Favorites #7
  • Paper:  PTI Chartreuse, White Stamper's Select
  • Tools:  PTI Linen & Canvas Impression Plate
  • Other:  Ribbon, Martha Stewart Glitter

Pinwheel Birthday Wishes

I saw this card on Pinterest and thought it was a bit different.  It looks difficult to make, but really isn't that hard at all!  I used Lemon Tart for the card base and topped it with white cardstock that I ran through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.

The "pinwheel" is made with eight 1-1/4" squares (I used a green polka dot and green/yellow plaid) that are alternately arranged onto two 2-5/8" overlapped squares.  I placed a large brad in the middle and adhered the pinwheel to the card.  I tied a yellow ribbon around the bottom and added the little tag, edged in green ink with Honeydew twine.  (Yellow again! lol)

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mixed Messages
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart
  • Tools:  PTI Tiny Tags Die; Cuttlebug Pajama Stripe Embossing Folder
  • Other:  Twine; Ribbon; Brad

Happy Mother's Day!

I saw this technique on Ribbon Girls blog last month and knew it was the card I was going to make for Mother's Day.  I'm always amazed at the ideas people come up with - lining up the letters directly over the flower - who thinks of these things?

I used white for the card base and added a layer of light green pattern paper.  Lining up the letters and flowers took more time than I thought - JJ on Ribbon Girls used a "stamp-a-majig" to line up her's, but honestly, I have that tool and I never seem to get it to work properly.  So I stamped the flower and leaf onto a separate piece of scrap paper, lined up the letters on top of it and stamped the flower/leaf again on top of the letters.  Next, I stamped the flower/leaf onto the actual card and matched up the already stamped letters that way.  Make sense?  The letters were adhered with 3d foam tape for dimension.

I stamped "happy" and "day" and layered the white onto PTI's new cardstock color, Wisteria.  I rounded the upper right and lower left corners.  I tied a sheer, purple ribbon around the bottom and punched out a butterfly, adding clear gems to the center.  I adhered the stamped image onto the card base with 3d foam squares for more dimension.  Happy Mother's Day!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Rosie Posie, Happy Day
  • Paper:  PTI Wisteria, White Stamper's Select; Colorbok
  • Tools:  PTI Block Alphabet Upper & Lower Dies; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Ribbon, Gems
  • Card Size:  5.0" x 7.0"
  • Use What I Have:  Colorbok paper is about 7 years old!

On Your Birthday

Here's another yellow card....I haven't used this sunflower stamp for a while.  I used white for the card base and layered it half in yellow and half in green pattern papers.  I added a strip of dark chocolate down the center made with a lace border punch.

I stamped the flowers onto Rustic White, stamping once in Sunflower ink and then again with Cantaloupe ink to soften the yellow.  I stamped the centers and sentiment in brown and the leaves in green. I layered the white onto Harvest Gold, tied Honeydew twine on the right side and adhered it to the card base with 3d foam squares.  For embellishment, I added pearls to the flower centers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Simple Sunflower, Take 3 Summer
  • Paper:  PTI Harvest Gold, Rustic White; DCWV Spring Fling & Summer Days; Bazzill; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Doily Lace Border Punch
  • Other:  Pearls; Twine

Bon Voyage

My parents asked me to make them a card for their neighbor's vacation. I used white for the card base and topped it with a blue/brown striped paper.  I diecut the large "postage" stamps and edged them with tea dye.  Luckily, I had a pack of "travel" stickers and added the plane, tour guide, suitcase and passport.

Using my alphabet dies, I cut out "bon voyage".  The words wouldn't fit across the card so I decided to put them vertically - and I think it turned out nice this way.  I tied Kraft twine around the spine and added the "enjoy" tag.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream; Heidi Grace
  • Tools:  Postage Nestabilities; PTI Alpha Block Dies, Tiny Tags Die
  • Other:  Twine; Tea Dye; Punch Studio Dimensional Stickers
  • Card Size:  5.0" x 7.0"

Morning Glories Birthday

I ordered this new "seed packet frame" die from PTI last month and wanted to use it right away.  My mom always gardens, so this is a perfect card for her.  I used Blueberry Sky for the card base and layered it with a coordinating blue, flowered pattern paper.  I rounded the bottom corners and die cut the doily and layered it on top.

The flowers were stamped on Rustic White and colored with Copics.  I diecut the seed packet frame in Blueberry and also coaster for support.  I stamped "morning glories" and "happy birthday" onto the frame and adhered it to the doily with 3d foamies for dimension.

I wrapped white tulle around the top and decorated a hat pin with pearls, silver balls and clear crystal balls.  I stamped "mom" onto a heart diecut, edged around it with blue and tied it to the tulle with Shore twine.  My last steps were adding the buttons, pearls and Pearl Pen in the middle of the flowers.  Happy Birthday Mom!!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Year of Flower Minis, Gracious Vases, Tiny Tags, Year of Flowers Titles
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, Rustic White; Hot Off The Press

Make A Wish (CAS #7)

I really like making CAS cards...it's nice not making a "detailed" card all the time.  For this easy card, I used Aqua Mist as the card base.  I stamped the cake image and candles onto Rustic Cream cardstock (a new favorite of mine!) and cut the corners with an inverted corner rounder.  I colored the candles with a yellow Sakura Glaze pen, added the sentiment and a couple buttons and was done!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Make A Wish
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Rustic Cream
  • Tools:  Inverted Corner Rounder
  • Other:  PTI Aqua Mist Buttons; Sakura Glaze Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
  • Use What I Have:  So many buttons....

Watercolor Roses

This is another card using Tim Holtz distress inks to give a "watercolor" effect.  I saw this technique and similar card on Betsy Veldman's blog.  I used white for the card base and added a layer of red.  I stamped the roses onto watercolor paper in Versamark, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and embossed it with a heat gun.

The distress inks, Victorian Velvet and Festive Berries for the roses and Shabby Shutters for the leaves were applied with a makeup sponge.  After inking, I sprayed water on the image using a mister and let it dry for a few hours.

Once dry, I stamped the "happy birthday".  I placed the watercolor paper onto a layer of black cardstock.  I added the green ribbon around the spine and the bee.  I think the black paper is a nice addition as it pulls the red, green and black all together.  Happy Birthday Arlene!

Birthday Wishes

Tried my new Martha Stewart "Guiding Star" punch for this card.  I used Kraft for the card base, rounding the corners, and added a layer of ribbed, blue Bazzill.  I cut another piece of Kraft and used the punch to make a row of three star circles.  I rounded the corners and edged around it in white ink and placed a piece of red cardstock behind it.

I added a silver brad in the middle of each of the stars and adhered it to the card.  I stamped the sentiment, wrapped Shore twine around the spine and a star tag stamped with "wish big".  This makes a nice male birthday card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Round & Round, Tiny Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft; Bazzill
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Guiding Star Punch; PTI Tiny Tags Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine; Brads

Congrats To The Grad

Hard to believe it's May already and that means graduations are right around the corner.   I used white for the card base and layered it with a black/grey/white striped pattern paper.  I stamped the 2012, stars and congrats onto white cardstock.  Okay, I have to admit, I didn't realize that my banner stamp set had numbers in them and came in very handy for this card!

I layered the white onto grey, tied the Stone twine around the card and added the cap.   The "Congrats All Ways" stamp set is really nice because it has a lot of "occasion sentiments" in it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Congrats All Ways, Banner Builder, Limitless Labels
  • Paper:  PTI White Stamper's Select; Hot Off The Press; Bazzill
  • Other:  Twine; Jolee's Stickers
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
