Happy Halloween (again!)...

I can't believe October is over and it's Halloween today. This is a card that I made a few years ago, but I thought it would be a nice card for SAS4K, so worth repeating.

I placed pattern paper and a solid bright green paper on a black cardstock card base, adding a strip of dripping goo. I stamped Happy Halloween in black ink and added orange jute on the spine. Another quick card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Halloween
  • Paper:  Recollections; DCWV
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Drippy Goo Border
  • Other:  Jute
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Halloween...

I was going through some of my craft supplies and found a bunch of pumpkin rub on transfers I bought a few years ago. It was time to use them up! In person the rub ons are very shiny with lots of glitter in them.

With a Popsicle stick, I rubbed the pumpkin, bat and star stickers onto white cardstock. I added washi tape at the top and bottom and stamped the sentiment in black ink. It can't get any easier than this!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Craftsmart
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Versafine Black Onyx
  • Other:  Royal Brush Glitter Pumpkin Rub On Transfers; Washi Tape
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending Birthday Hugs & Wishes...

The Gifts of the Season stamp set was released with Christmas products, but I like that it can be used for any occasion where presents are involved - birthday, wedding, baby shower, etc.

The stack of presents is made by just stamping two different images. On white cardstock, I stamped the first layer in Green Parakeet ink and the second layer in Lemon Tart ink. To add dimension to the card, I die-cut the bows and ribbons in white cardstock, stamped the images with Hawaiian Shores ink and placed them on foam tape. I added a little clear gem to the centers and Clear Star ink to one of the presents.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and placed the panel on a Green Parakeet cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Gifts Of the Season, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Green Parakeet
  • Ink:  PTI Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Gifts of the Season
  • Other:  Gems; Clear Star Jelly Roll; Foam Tape
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Layered Dry Brushing (MIM #265)...

It's hard to believe that another week has passed by quickly and it's time for this week's Make It Monday #265: Layered Dry Brushing. Lizzie Jones hosts this week and shows us how to use paint and a brush to create a streaky looking background.

I used Fresh Linen Snow cardstock for my card instead of watercolor paper. I thought the paint would really accent the linen lines and I was right, it looks wonderful! I mixed white acrylic paint with Aqua Mist reinker and dry brushed horizontal lines and then repeated the process with Hawaiian Shores reinker and dry brushed vertical lines.

Instead of using a newer stamp set, I pulled out this oldie but goodie, Polka Dot Parade #9. The tree is die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Hawaiian Shores and Pure Poppy inks. The tree trunk is stamped in Dark Chocolate ink and the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink. The tree is die-cut three times and stacked together for dimension. I die-cut the star in silver foil paper.

I added the Loop-de-loop border at the top and sprinkled it with glitter. I placed the panel on a Pure Poppy cardstock card base. I will admit when I first used this technique I wasn't too thrilled with it, but now that the card is made I'm pleasantly surprised at how much I like it!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #9, Think Big Favorites #20
  • Paper:  PTI Fresh Snow Linen, White Stampers Select, Pure Poppy; Silver Foil
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, Dark Chocolate, Aqua Mist
  • Dies:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #9, Loop-de-loop
  • Other:  White Acrylic Paint; Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey October 2016 Blog Hop Challenge...

Did I just type October Blog Hop? I can't believe October is almost over and it's time again for PTI's Blog Hop. This month's picture has lots of inspiration to choose from - the leaves, the cute little gourds, the colors - so it wasn't difficult for me to come up with an idea. Yay!!!! Anything with leaves or snowflakes gets me every time!

The Color Pop: Autumn kit came to mind when I saw the above photo. On white cardstock, I stenciled the four different color leaves using Fall-like colors (leaves/veins): Pure Poppy/Scarlet Jewel, Summer Sunrise/Morocco, Harvest Gold/Morocco and Potter's Clay/Cocoa Bean inks. The adorable, little acorns were stenciled with Kraft and Cocoa Bean inks.

I stamped the sentiment in Cocoa Bean ink and placed the panel on a Terracotta Tile cardstock card base. For a bit of sparkle, I added glitter to the leaves.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop: Autumn, Autumn Hills
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Terracotta Tile
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Cocoa Bean, Kraft; Memento Morocco, Potter's Clay
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending Birthday Wishes...

I can't believe October is already half way over - well, really two thirds over now! I wanted to use Painted Petals on this card and use more Fall like colors.

On white cardstock with a make-up brush, I lightly applied Aqua Mist ink. Next I die-cut the larger flower and inked it with Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Bright Buttercup and Scarlet Jewel inks. The flower is die-cut three times and stacked together. The leaves are die-cut and stamped with Simply Chartreuse ink.

The smaller flower is die-cut and stamped with Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate and black inks. It's also die-cut three times and stacked. The leaves are die-cut and stamped with Spring Moss ink.

Sending is die-cut in Berry Sorbet cardstock three times and stacked. I added the additional sentiment in black ink. I placed the panel on a Berry Sorbet cardstock card base and added glitter to the flowers.

The card had a little too much space so I added the little clusters of dots in Aqua Mist ink.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Painted Petals, City Scene
  • Paper:  PTI Berry Sorbet, White Stamper's Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Berry Sorbet, Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Bright Buttercup, Summer Sunrise, Dark Chocolate, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Painted Petals, Don't Forget To Write
  • Other:  Glitter

Die-Cut Stencil Shapes (MIM #264)...

And yes, another week has gone by, that means it's time for a new MIM challenge. This week Melissa Phillips shows us how to use our dies as stencils in this video Make It Monday #264: Die-Cut Stencil Shapes. I'm happy because it gives me another way to use my dies!

I picked the snowflake from Phrase Play #9 and stenciled it onto white cardstock with Aqua Mist ink. I used a make-up brush to give them a very soft look. The snowflakes are so pretty in person I didn't really want to put anything else on the card!

I die-cut the hill in white cardstock and added a glitter line along the top. The sledder is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock 4 times and stacked together with a little pompom on the hat. I stamped the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink on a stitched banner and placed it on fun foam for dimension.

And because it's snow - I couldn't wait to get out my white fun fur to put on the top of the card! I think this wispy material goes great with snow!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Christmas Critters Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Phrase Play #9, In The Meadow; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Flag; MFT Snow Drifts
  • Other:  Glitter; Fun Fur; Fun Foam, Pompom
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Just Because...

I'm trying to use dies I haven't used for a while and pulled out Beautiful Beads. This was released a few years ago primarily to make beads with - you cut out the triangular shape and roll it up into a bead and put the beads together with wire or string to make jewelry. I just like the shape to use on cards.

The card base is white cardstock. I die-cut the triangles in Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy and Aqua Mist cardstock and placed them on the card. The sentiment is stamped in Pure Poppy ink.

Just a quick, fun card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Just Because
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy
  • Dies:  PTI Beautiful Beads
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Anniversary Wishes...

I started making something with the Bitty Bouquet stamp set and changed my mind and set this square with flowers aside. It's been on my craft table for a few months so I decided to finally make something with it.

I took a piece of white cardstock, embossed it with hexagons and placed it on a Berry Sorbet cardstock card base.

The flowers were die-cut in white and stamped with Berry Sorbet, Harvest Gold and Green Parakeet inks with the sentiment in black ink. I placed them on the square and attached it to the panel with fun foam for dimension.

I added the white crochet thread and some glitter to the flowers for a bit of sparkle.

Card Details:

  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Bouquet, Don't Forget To Write
  • Paper:  PTI Berry Sorbet, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Harvest Gold, Green Parakeet; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Bitty Bouquet, Don't Forget To Write, Cover Plate: Hexagons

Papertrey Oct 2016 Create Along With Us...

I've really been in the mood to make Christmas cards, I think because the weather is cooler and PTI has been releasing their new holiday stamps for two months. So much inspiration! I absolutely love this card Betsy Veldman made, it's so beautiful! I was originally going to make something similar, but know I'd never even come close to what she did! So my inspiration came from the non-traditional colors, the use of What The Doodle, the inked background and tiny snowflakes.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and applied Scarlet Jewel ink lightly with a make-up brush. The ornament is die-cut three times in white cardstock. On one, I stamped the image, applied Versamark ink and white embossing powder. After heat setting it, I brushed Hawaiian Shores ink on it, stacked and glued them together, adding the crochet thread bow on top.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. I added the strip of Holiday Plaid pattern paper at the top and placed the panel on a Scarlet Jewel cardstock card base. There was too much space and the snowflake sequins helped fill in the background.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI What The Doodle: Ornament, Keep It Simple: Christmas
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Scarlet Jewel, Holiday Plaid
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Scarlet Jewel; Versafine Onyx Black; Versamark
  • Dies:  PTI What The Doodle: Ornament
  • Tools:  Heat Tool
  • Other:  Stampin' Up Frosted Sequins; Crochet Thread; Zing Embossing Powder
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

A True Artist...

This card uses PTI's Art With Heart stamp set that was available on Stamp-A-Faire day. And I basically copied a card Kay Miller did with this set - it was so perfect, why change it!

On Fresh Snow Linen cardstock, die-cut with Wonky Stitched Rectangles, I stamped the sentiment in the middle using Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist inks for the flowers and Spring Moss ink for the leaves. The centers are stamped with Tropical Teal ink.

The panel is on fun foam and placed on a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Art With Heart
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Fresh Snow Linen
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Tropical Teal, Spring Moss
  • Dies:  MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Fun Foam
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Background Building With Frames (MIM #263)...

Another week has quickly gone by and here we are with this week's challenge, Make It Monday #263: Background Building With Frames, where Amy Sheffer shows us how to use frame dies to create a different looking background.

I started with a white card base, and using a make up brush, applied Aqua Mist ink to the background. Next, I stamped the pine boughs around the edges in Spring Moss ink and the little berries in Pink Peony ink. Do you like this non-traditional color combo? I have to give full credit to Melissa Phillips who suggested it on the PTI Forum. Thanks Melissa!

I already had a bunch of Keep It Simple frames cut and placed three on the card, staggering them a bit. The doves are die-cut (three times and stacked) in white cardstock and stamped with Pale Peony ink. Peace is die-cut with Luxe Gold foil paper and the sentiment stamped in Smokey Shadow ink.

To bring out more of the gold, I tied gold cording around the top and added a little gold star to the doves.  I have to remember to use my frames like this again in the future!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Christmas Faith, Wet Paint Holiday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Luxe Gold Adhesive
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Spring Moss, Pale Peony, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  Christmas Faith, Keep It Simple Frames, Wet Paint Holiday, Jolly Holiday
  • Other:  Gold Cording
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending You Hugs...

It's hard to believe it's October already! Now the rest of the year is going to fly by even faster!

With a stencil and a make-up brush, I applied Berry Sorbet and Pale Peony inks on white cardstock to create the lined background. Hugs is die-cut in Berry Sorbet cardstock three times and stacked. "Sending you" is stamped in black ink.

The top of the card was too empty looking so I tied crochet thread around the card. Another quick and easy card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Swoosh
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Berry Sorbet
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony; Versafine Black Onyx
  • Dies:  Simon Says Stamps Painted Hugs
