Birthday Wishes

Hard to believe it's the end of August already, the year is flying by so fast!  I saw this card on Debbie Olson's blog and wanted to make one similar to it.  The card base is white, topped with a blue and orange pattern paper.  I stamped the images on white and layered it on Orange Zest cardstock.  I die cut the picket fence and placed it on top of half of a doily. I added the sentiment, a little strip of white ribbon and a bit of glitter on the flower tops.

Elephant Happy Birthday

I was making this card when we had an earthquake the other day.....very scary!  This is a new stamp set that my friend sent me - it's from Inky Antics called Birthday Elephant.  The stamps are designed to work with  honeycomb paper although you don't have to use it.

Outside:  I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of black and a patterned white/pink paper.  The elephant was stamped and colored with Copics, cut out and mounted on scalloped black cardstock.  I added a coordinating opposite white/pink pattern paper, the sentiment and a couple metal adhesive dots.

Inside:  I stamped the elephant, a few gift packages and colored them with Copics.  I added the strip of patterned paper at the top and bottom of the card and the sentiment.  Notice the balloon - this is the "honeycomb" paper that adds a "3D surprise" to the card!  Isn't this just cute, cute, cute!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Inky Antics Birthday Elephant
  • Paper:  No idea - I've had it for ages!
  • Tools:  Rectangle Scalloped Nestabilities, Tag Trio Nestabilities
  • Other:  Copics, HoneyComb Paper, Metal Adhesive Dots, Sakura Clear Star Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

I've had this patterned paper for a while and realized it goes perfectly with Lavender Moon, so that's what I used for the card base.  The flower is stamped on Vintage Cream and I added a pearl in the middle.  I added the sentiment and a couple strips of cardstock behind the image.  A quick but cute card.

  • Paper:  PTI Lavender Moon, Vintage Cream, EK Success
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 3

I stamped the sentiment and added a coordinating ribbon.  Naturally I made cards in pink and blue!

Sweet Sixteen

Oh, remember when we were turning 16 and couldn't wait to drive?  I wanted this card to show that - and found a great set of stickers from Joanns for a 16th birthday.  I used white for the card base and topped it with raspberry card stock and a polka dot pattern paper.  All of the stickers matched the colors of the polka dots perfectly!  I added a raspberry and white cording to finish the card.

Picnic Basket Birthday

I was in the mood to make a quick card but felt like coloring something too.  I used Kraft for the card base and then used left over scraps - a strip of tea leaves patterned paper, matted on solid red along the side.  I stamped and colored the picnic basket and die cut it with nestabilities.  Next I added the sentiment and a little glitter on the roses.  It still needed something to balance the card so I added the two dew drops in the corner.  Love using scraps to make cards!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Vintage Picnic
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Pure Poppy, Green Tea Leaves
  • Tools:  Labels Nine Nestabilities
  • Other:  Dew Drops, Martha Stewart Glitter, Copics

Happy Birthday Vases

I liked this new set from PTI, Gracious Vases from the first time I saw it!  I think it can be used for so many different types of cards.  I used a light purple for the card base and topped it with a leafy patterned paper and rounded the corners on the right side.  I stamped vases in different colors of purple and one in rhubarb, which I think brings all the colors together.  The images are matted on a darker color purple and die cut with nestabilities.  As a final touch, I added the sentiment, two adhesive pearls and used a pearl pen on the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Gracious Vases
  • Paper:  DCWV
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder, Labels Four Nestabilities
  • Other:  Adhesive Pearls, Pearl Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

With Sympathy - Letterpress

I was looking through my paper supply and found this letterpress paper!  Letterpress is paper that's embossed and then the raised part is inked and pressed back into the paper. I didn't even know I had this type of paper,  lol, but it matched perfectly with the PTI card stock.  I used Sweet Blush for the card base and topped it with the letterpress paper.  I made a die cut with Melon Berry, stamped the sentiment and  the black strip behind the die cut and a few pearl drops.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #3
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Melon Berry; Letterpress
  • Tools:  Labels Ten Nestabilities
  • Other:  Pearl Pen

New Job!

I made this for a friend of mine who's been out of work about 8 months and just landed a great job!  The card base is Kraft, topped with a piece of Vintage Cream.  I stamped the leaves and grass and added the sentiment.  The card still needed something so a bit of twine and the dragonfly pulled the card together for me.  A nice masculine card!

  • Stamps:  PTI Peaceful Garden, Congrats All Ways, Places Please
  • Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream, Kraft
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine

Ice Cream Anyone?

This is another new set from PTI that's just adorable, after all, who doesn't like ice cream?  I used Kraft for the card base and topped it with a pink and white striped pattern paper.  Dies were used to cut out the cone and scoops and stamped with ink.  I used a Pearl Pen on the scoops for a little dimension; the sentiment and ribbon were the final touches.  This card just screams ice cream parlor to me!

  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Other
  • Tools:  PTI Sweet As Can Be Dies, Labels Four Nestabilities

Feel Better

This is a card from the July issue of Cardmaker magazine - and what I'll call a "scrap" card because it's made from leftover scraps (except for the card base)!  The card base is white, topped with a layer of Summer Sunrise, embossed with the Linen Impression plate.  The banners were made using a double ended banner, cutting off the tops.  I stamped the potted plant, colored it with Copics and added the twine, sentiment and a few pearls.  This is one of my favorite cards - I really like the card design and the color combination!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Lockhart Phalaenopsis, PTI Tiny Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss, Bitty Box Basics, Bitty Baby Blessings
  • Tools:  PTI Double Ended Banner Die, Tiny Tags Die, Linen Impression Plate; Nestabilities Scalloped Long Rectangle

Fly Away

I saw a card similar to this (posted by Vannessa) on one of the PTI Stamp-a-faire challenges last week and thought it would be perfect for my friend's birthday.  I stamped the airplane on white and colored it with Copics.  Next I took a piece of Spring Rain card stock and stamped clouds onto it.  I cut the window in the cardstock with Mat Stack 1 and adhered it to the white and mounted both of them onto red card stock.  I tied some twine around the opening and added the buttons and banner.  Happy Birthday Brian!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Fly Away, Up, Up & Away
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 1, Fly Away Die

Birthday Flowers & Leafy Vines

This is one of my new favorite dies from PTI - the Leafy Vine Border.  I used Stamper's Select White cardstock, cut the right side with Edgers #3, and then edged around it with cantaloupe ink.  I cut the vines and topped each one with a Flower Fusion #6 flower (stamped and reinforced with coaster on the back) and mounted it onto a piece of Hawaiian Shores card stock.  I stamped the sentiment on the banner and added the butterfly - the "pearls" on the butterfly and banner are my latest new find - Pearl Pens from Viva Decor.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Flower Fusion #6, Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Stamper's Select White, Summer Sunrise; Bazzill
  • Tools:  PTI Leafy Vines Border, Flower Fusion #6 Die, Double Ended Banners Die, Card Edgers #3; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
