Happy Halloween! (CAS #24)

Well, it's Halloween and it won't be long and it'll be Christmas!  The year is flying back so quickly!  This is a quick card I wanted to make using the ghosts again.  I used white for the card base and added a layer of bright green and a layer of striped black and grey, rounding the right corners.

I die cut the ghosts, stamped a variety of faces on them and adhered them to the black paper.  I die cut the banner in orange and stamped the sentiment.  Happy Halloween!

  • Stamps:  PTI Happy Haunting
  • Paper:  PTI Orange Zest; DCWV
  • Tools:  PTI Double Ended Banner, Happy Haunting Die; Corner Rounder

Congrats On Your New Job

Here's another new job card made with PTI's Card Edgers #5.  These are great to use and can give the effect of a folder.  This card was for someone who got a job as an administrative assistant so I thought a folder card was appropriate.

I used Lemon Tart cardstock for the card base and added a layer of red polka dot pattern paper, cutting the tops with the card edgers.  I die cut the spiral notebook page and stamped it with the sentiments.  I added a strip of red cardstock along the length of the folder.

I tied charcoal twine around the notebook page, added a curly paper clip and adhered it to the card.  My last steps were adding the stars to make it a bit more celebratory.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Congrats All Ways
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, Pure Poppy; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
  • Tools:  PTI Card Edgers #5, Spiral Notebook Page Die, Stampin' Up Star Punch

Halloween Doo-dad

I saw this coffin on Pinterest and knew I had to make it for my Halloween doo-dad.  The template is available on Martha Stewart's website.  However, when I printed it out, I thought it was way too big, so I reduced the size of the template by 25% on my printer to make, what I think, is a much "cuter" size coffin.

The coffin is made by cutting out the bottom and top in black cardstock.  You cut out the same pieces in pattern paper and line the coffin with the pattern paper.  Then you fold the cardstock to form the coffin and secure it with scor-tape to ensure it will stay together.  It's not hard to do, just a little time consuming to go through each step of the cutting and folding.

I filled the coffins with miniature candies, put on the lid and wrapped jute around it to make it look more like a crypt.  I added the tag with a stamped image, colored with Copics and a sentiment.  These turned out really cute and everyone just loved them!

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Treats:  Halloween
  • Paper:  Debbie Mumm; Colorbok; DCWV
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Nestabilities
  • Other:  Jute; Copics; Scor-tape
  • Project Size:  5.5" x 2.25" x 1.5"

Sending You Thanks

This is a free stamp set PTI included with orders at the end of last year as a thank you to their customers.  I can't believe I'm just getting around to using it!

I used Hawaiian Shores cardstock for the card base and added a layer of coordinating pattern paper.  I cut the lacey square in Vintage Cream and stamped it with the "thanks" image.  It's one big stamp image so I inked part in Turquoise Gem and part in Cantaloupe inks.

I added a gold gem at the top and bottom of the image and wrapped Summer Sunrise ribbon around the card, tying a knot.  I placed the lacey square over the ribbon on foam tape for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Sending A Big Thank You
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Green Boutique, Vintage Cream
  • Tools:  Lacey Squares Nestabilities; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  PTI Summer Sunrise Ribbon; Gems
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Halloween Fun Folds

This is a new style card I saw in the September 2012 issue of CardMaker magazine and naturally I had to try it!  The card was surprisingly easy to make, it's all in the folding.  I made a variety of them in different pattern papers.

I added a belly band to the card to keep it closed.  For decoration, I stamped a sentiment and image on scalloped circles, coloring the image with Copics.  These were a lot of fun to make and could be used for any occasion.

Here' what they look like closed and opened:

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Treats: Halloween
  • Paper:  Colorbok
  • Tools:  Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; Copics
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 6.25"

Happy Autumn Birthday

Autumn is the best time of the year - I love everything about it, especially the leaves.  So many pretty colors!  For this card, I used Terracotta Tile cardstock for the card base and topped it with Rustic Cream cardstock, impressed with woodgrain.  I edged around the Rustic Cream with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink and rounded the bottom corners.

I stamped the leaves in Morocco, Dandelion and Bamboo Leaves inks and cut them out with scissors.  I stamped the sentiment in Rich Cocoa ink and layered it on another piece of Terracotta Tile cardstock.  I arranged the leaves on the card, popping up the yellow leaf on foam tape for dimension.  For bling, I added a bit of coarse glitter to the leaves.  Happy Birthday Mary!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Autumn Hills, Leaf Prints
  • Paper:  PTI Terracotta Tile, Rustic Cream
  • Tools:  PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate; Corner Rounder; Standard Rectangle Nestabilities

Ghostly Greetings (CAS #23)

Hard to believe but Halloween is just around the corner.  This is a new stamp set from Papertrey - the ghost comes with a variety of faces to use on it.  Just too cute!

I used white for the card base and used a crackled stamp to give it a texture-like pattern.  I cut out the ghost, stamped the face and adhered it to the card with foam tape for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment just below the ghost in black ink.

It was entirely too plain looking so I added the Mandarin twine.  A cute and quick card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Happy Haunting, Crackled
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI Happy Haunting Die
  • Other:  Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happiest Birthday Wishes

Natural Beauties certainly is getting used quite a bit!  I wanted to make another 3 panel card because they're simple to make and look like they aren't so simple.  This is also a color combination that worked very nicely together and a bit different than what I would normally use.

I used Enchanted Evening for the card base.  I stamped the flower images on white cardstock using Mediterranean Blue, Aloe Vera and Pink Grapefruit inks, cut them into the three panels and placed them on the blue card base.

The sentiment was stamped on a diecut made with Melon Berry cardstock.  I added a pearl to each of the flower centers with white pearl pen.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Framed Out #6
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, Melon Berry, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI Framed Out #6 Die
  • Other:  Pearl Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy 1st Birthday

My friend asked me to make her granddaughter a first birthday card and I decided to pull out this Penny Black stamp since I haven't used it for a while.

I used white for the card base and added a layer of alphabet pattern paper and a layer of pink polka dot pattern paper.   The image was stamped on white, colored with Copics and placed on a pink scalloped circle.

I cut the light green loopy strips behind the image with my new "loop de loop" die.  The balloon and number "1" were cut with dies and adhered on foam tape for dimension.  For the balloon string, I attached a piece of pink sorbet twine to the balloon and "tied" it to the bench.

The "happy birthday" was stamped on a diecut.  Last steps were adding the Prisma flowers with Pearl Pen in the middle and sprinkling glitter on the stamped flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Penny Black "Break For Cake"; PTI Birthday Basics
  • Paper:  DCWV; Core'dinations
  • Tools:  PTI Fabulous Frames Die, Heart-2-Heart #2 Die; Block Alpha Numbers Die, Loop-de-Loop Die; Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities

Sending Prayers

I needed to make a sympathy card for a man and Kraft is always good for a masculine card.  I used Kraft for the card base and edged around it in white ink.  I stamped the stems in ink and the flowers in brown on Vintage Cream cardstock.  I layered it on Spring Moss and Dark Chocolate cardstocks.

I wrapped dark brown ribbon around the card and tied it in a knot and placed the image on foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment was stamped in brown ink.  Although hard to see in the picture, I added Sand Flower Soft to the tops of the flowers for texture.  The card needed something so I added the little butterfly.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Butterflies, With Sympathy
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Spring Moss, Vintage Cream, Dark Chocolate
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Butterfly Border Punch
  • Other:  Flower Soft; Ribbon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Wish Big (CAS #22)

This is another card using the Washi tape from Target.  It's so much fun and so quick and easy to make a card using this tape!

I used Terracotta Tile for the card base.  I placed the four different styles of Washi tape diagonally across white cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment in orange and layered it on a scalloped circle diecut made with Harvest Gold cardstock.  That's it - the card is done!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Terracotta Tile, Harvest Gold, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Washi Tape

Happy 60th Birthday!

I saw a card similar to this on Betsy Veldman's blog and wanted to make one too!  I was asked to make a 60th birthday card and thought this was a nice card for it.

The smaller flowers are stamped on white cardstock using Rosebud and Turquoise Gem inks.  The bigger flower was made in five layers:  1) stamped with Rosebud and Turquoise Gem inks, 2) two layers of diecut vellum leaves and 3) two layers of diecut flowers in Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  I also randomly stamped some wispy type leaves in Wheat ink.

The sentiment was made on the computer but I cut it out using a Fabulous Frames die.  I adhered it to coaster for support and then popped it up with foam tape for dimension.  I tied white tulle around the spine and added a few gems to the big flower center to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Lovely Layers
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI Fabulous Frames Die, Lovely Layers Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Tulle; Gems; Coaster; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  5.5" x 5.5"

Congrats On Your New Job

This is for someone who just got a new job working for the Navy in administration, so I thought red, white and blue personalized the card a bit more.

I used Enchanted Evening for the card base and added a layer of stars pattern paper, rounding the right hand corners.  I stamped the sentiment in blue ink on a white oval diecut and layered it on a scalloped oval diecut, paper piercing the scallops.

I added the red, white and blue twine on the spine and a few metal stars on the oval.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Congrats All Ways
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select; DCWV
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Oval Nestabilities; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Postal Twine; Metal Stars

on your birthday

Sometimes I get in the mood to make a male birthday card and when the mood strikes, I have to act on it!  That's what happened with this card, the idea just came to me.  I used medium brown Bazzill cardstock for the card base and added a layer of dark brown cardstock and a layer of blue cardstock, cut with Card Edgers.

Using my Take Three Die, I diecut the striped and plaid squares and placed them on top of the blue cardstock.  I wrapped Cappuccino twine on the edge and tied it with a button.  The sentiment was cut from the Framed Out #1 die and adhered with foam tape for dimension.  Brown and blue - typical man colors!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Take Three Summer
  • Paper:  PTI Dark Chocolate, Rustic Cream; Bazzill, Stampin' Up
  • Tools:  PTI Card Edgers #4, Take Three Die, Framed Out #1 Die
  • Other:  Twine, PTI Wood Button
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy birthday

I was playing around with my Natural Beauties stamps to make this card.  I randomly stamped the flowers on white cardstock, but this time I used the layering technique - the flowers are stamped twice, once in pink and then stamped on top of the pink with red to give it more of a detailed look.

I added the leaves and the tiny flowers in two different shades of green.  The flower centers are stamped in Mango (a new ink color) and I thought it matched Summer Sunrise perfectly, and used that as the card base.  I rounded the corners on the right side.

I stamped the happy birthday sentiment and added a pearl using Pearl Pen to the center of each flower.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Lovely Layers, Think Big Favorites #12
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Pearl Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Baby

I'm using a Marianne Designs diecut for this card sent to me from Jill.  I used Aqua Mist cardstock for the card base and layered the Marianne diecut on top.  Before adhering it, I tied a bow in the upper right hand corner through the slots in the diecut.

I diecut a scalloped circle and paper pierced the scallops.  The baby buggy was stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copics and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I added white Pearl Pen to the dots on the Marianne diecut to embellish it a bit.  I thought this was a nice color that could be used for a boy or a girl.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Bringing Home Baby
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  Marianne Designables DS0913; Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; Paper Piercer
  • Other:  Ribbon; Copics; Pearl Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
