Birthday Wishes (CAS #21)

Another easy card using Washi Tape - I really like using this tape because it's soooo easy to use!  And if you make a mistake, you can just pull it up and reposition it - no tearing your paper!

I used Pure Poppy for the card base, added four different types of Washi tape, placed horizontally on white cardstock and adhered it to the card base.

I stamped the red striped stamp onto a circle diecut and added the "birthday wishes" sentiment.  Done!

BIG Birthday Wishes

I found this pattern paper when I was looking for something else and put it aside to use for this card.  I thought the paper was bright, cheerful and full of masculine colors!  I  used Enchanted Evening cardstock for the card base, added a layer of medium brown cardstock and the pattern paper.  I rounded the corners on the right hand side of the two layered papers.

I used the new Framed Out #8 die to cut the outer oval in Blueberry Sky and the middle in Vintage Cream.  I stamped the sentiment and adhered the frame on foam tape for dimension.  I added the two metal dots on either side of the sentiment and a little jute on the spine.  Happy Birthday Ed!

{happy birthday}

This card uses another Cover Plate by PTI - "hexagons".  I ran the hexagon die through my Cuttlebug machine, popped out the inserts and stamped them with 4 different colors:  Tangelo, Pink Grapefruit, Turquoise Gem and Aqua Splash.

I adhered the hexagon frame to an Aqua Mist card base and reinserted the stamped hexagons.  To create the pattern, I followed a template Nichole posted on her blog on where to place the hexagons...much easier than trying to figure it out!  I stamped the sentiment on a diecut banner, added Cantaloupe twine for decoration and placed it on foam tape for dimension.

Happy Birthday To You! (CAS #20)

This is a quick CAS I made using Kraft cardstock for the card base.  I stamped the music notes on the Kraft and edged around it in Vintage Cream ink.  I wrapped Shore twine around the card and die cut the blue from a Postage nestability.  I die cut the next layer using Labels 6 nestabilities and stamped it with the sentiment.  I adhered it to the card with foam tape for dimension and that was it!  Easy and makes a nice male card.

  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Blueberry Sky
  • Tools:  Labels 6 Nestabilities, Postage Nestabilities

Two Hearts Become One

I haven't posted this card because I can't seem to get a good enough picture to show all the details - the card looks so much better in person!  I saw something similar on Pinterest with no instructions how to make it, so I designed my own templates to create the card.

I used a 5x7 white card base and cut some of the top to leave the appearance of a collar along the left side of the card. The tux form is cut from black cardstock using the template I designed. I used a small piece of white cardstock for the shirt and scored it to give a "striped" appearance.  I used mini black brads for the buttons (in the past I used black Pearl Pen but think the brads look better).  I notched the lapels and folded them back with a bit of scor-tape.  The bow tie was made by putting the ends of two tiny hearts together.  I added a crystal gem flower on the lapel.

The dress is also cut from a template I designed.  I ran the white cardstock through the Cuttlebug with an embossing folder.  I wrapped the tulle around the waist and adhered the dress slightly over the tux.  I added the pearls on the dress using white Pearl Pen.  I cut the neck out with a circle punch and added a "string of pearls" at the base of it.  The flower on her waist is a Jolee's sticker, which is perfect for this card!

I stamped the sentiment in black ink onto an oval die cut, layered it onto a scalloped oval and adhered it on foam tape for dimension.  I'm really proud of this card and that I was able to design it myself!

Birthday Wishes

My friend Jill sent me a bunch of Memory Box die cuts and I've been wanting to use this wreath on a card.  It's such a pretty and delicate die cut!

I used Aqua Mist cardstock for the card base and added a layer of matching Aqua Mist leaves pattern paper.  I cut the bottom of both papers using Card Edgers #1 to give it a little bit of shape. I adhered the wreath to the card and added a few gems to it.  I tied a bow using polka dot sheer ribbon and placed it on the bottom of the wreath.

The banner was made using a Fabulous Frames die, stamped with the sentiment and adhered to the card with foam tape for dimension.  I also added a few gems on either side of the sentiment.  Happy Birthday Kathy!

New Twine Colors!

It doesn't take much to get me excited in the crafting world.....so you know new colors of twine makes me very happy!  These are the latest colors from The Twinery:  Midnight Blue, Ocean, Strawberry and Seaweed.  Here you can see I split up the spools into 3 portions because I'm sharing the twine with 2 of my crafting friends.  By doing this, we get 80 yards of each color!  The new colors are so pretty!

birthday wishes

I made this card sometime last year for a friend's mom and realized I never posted it.  I don't have this stamp set but stamped a bunch of images from it from my friend who owns it.  I used Sweet Blush cardstock for the card base and added a layer of polka dot pattern paper.

I colored the image with Copics and cut the corners with an inverted corner punch.  I wrapped some light green twine around it and placed it on a rectangle of Melon Berry cardstock.  I adhered it to the polka dot paper using foam tape for dimension.

I stamped "birthday wishes" on a Tag Trio die cut and adhered it to the card, placing a gemstone on both sides of the sentiment.  My last step was adding the tag to the twine - I stamped it with "Mom" and edged around it with a bit of light pink ink.  This is another favorite color combination of mine!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendship Jar Spring Fillers, Tiny Tags, Up, Up & Away
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Melon Berry, Polka Dot Parade, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI Tiny Tags Dies; Inverted Corner Rounder; Tag Trios Nestabilities

With Sympathy (CAS #19)

It's been a while since I made a sympathy card and wanted to make a quick one.  I used Aqua Mist for the card base and rounded the bottom corners.  I randomly stamped the flowers and leaves onto white cardstock, adding the butterfly.  I really like this color combination using Pear Tart, Aquatic Splash, Tangelo and Rosebud inks.

I stamped the sentiment - sometimes a large sentiment is just right for a card.  I added a couple gems to the butterfly and the card was done!  Very easy and quick, and it looks nice too!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Rosie Posie, Turning A New Leaf, Beautiful Butterflies, Think Big Favorites #3
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Gems

Go Braless

I think it's been a couple years since I pulled out my Dolly Mama stamps....I don't know why because they certainly are a lot of fun to color!  I started with a black card base and then added a layer of small red/white gingham paper.  I stamped the image on white cardstock and colored it with Copics.

I decided to added Charcoal twine - punched a couple holes in the right hand side of the paper and threaded the twine through them tying it in a bow.....I wanted to do something different than just putting it on the spine or around the bottom of the card.  I added silver stickles to her hat for a little sparkle.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Dolly Mama Go Braless
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select; Amuse Gingham
  • Tools:  Crop-a-Dile
  • Other:  Twine; Stickles; Copics

Happiest Birthday Wishes

This card is for a sports nut who likes green!  I happened to find this sports pattern paper as I was looking for green paper, and knew I had to use it for this card.  I used Kraft for the card base and then added a layer of dark green and a layer of the sports paper.

I die cut the square from Framed Out #6 and ran the outer part through the Cuttlebug with my woodgrain impression plate.  I stamped the sentiment in green and put both die cuts on top of a banner cut in light green, placing the banner on foam tape for dimension.  My last step was adding the jute on the spine.  A great card for a sports guy!

  • Tools:  PTI Double Ended Banners, Framed Out #6 Die; Woodgrain Impression Plate

A Very Happy Birthday 2 You

Washi Tape is so easy to use and just adds something a bit different to a card.  Target has 4-packs of the tape in four different colors so guess who bought all 4 colors?? hehe

I used Hawaiian Shores cardstock for the card base.  I cut a piece of 3-3/4" x 5" white cardstock and cut the bottom with pinking scissors.  I placed 4 strips of the Washi Tape on the cardstock, also cutting the bottoms with the pinking scissors.

The sentiment is made with Framed Out #1 stamps and matching die and placed on foam tape for dimension.  I added the green star to pull in the green color in the last strip of tape.  These colors are a perfect match for Hawaiian Shores!

  • Stamps:  PTI Framed Out #1
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI Framed Out #1 Die; Stampin' Up Small Star Punch

Happy Fifth Anniversary

I saw a card similar to this on Michelle Wooderson's blog...loved the colors and the style, so naturally I had to make it!  I like it because it's not too feminine.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added the tea leaves and polka dot paper on top.  I edged around the Kraft in white ink.  I cut a square of Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped it with a large Mehndi Medallion in light brown ink.  I used a bit of pink ink around the edges of the medallion to help bring all the pink in the card together.

I cut another square in Kraft, edged around it in white ink, added the Vintage Cream and attached it to the card.  I die cut the bird cage and stamped it with the bird cage image and birds.  I added a tiny clear gemstone to the top of the cage and adhered it to the card with foam tape for dimension.

The sentiment was made on the computer and added below the image.  I tied pink ribbon around the card and added the two hearts.  I think this card turned out really nice - I just love brown and pink together!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Love Birds, Mehndi Medallion, Harvest Berries
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Green Tea Leaves, Chocolate Remix
  • Tools:  PTI Love Birds Die; Heart Nestabilities

Wish Big

My parents asked me to make a birthday card for a women who works at a farmer's market - and I happened to have this vegetable paper which was perfect for her!  Notice there are cute smiley faces on all the vegetables!

I used Summer Sunrise for the card base, added the layer of veggie paper and rounded the bottom corners. I used Mat Stack 2 to die cut one shape from Vintage Cream cardstock and stamped the sentiment on it.  I die cut another Mat Stack 2 shape from Simply Chartreuse cardstock, cutting a circle in the middle using a scalloped circle nestability.  I layered the chartreuse on top of the cream with foam tape for dimension.  I added the buttons threaded with Honeydew twine to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise, Simply Chartreuse, Vintage Cream; Cosmo Cricket Garden Variety
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 2; Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; Corner Rounder

happy birthday (CAS #18)

I'm posting this card a little early for Labor Day - it would also be perfect for someone who has a birthday on a patriotic holiday.  I stamped the stars on white cardstock in red, blue and silver inks and adhered it to a Blueberry Sky card base.

The banner was created with Ribbon Banner nestabilities, stamped with the sentiment and a couple stars.  It was a little too white so I edged around it in blue and adhered it to the card with foam tape.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Everyday Classics, Birthday Basics, Around & About Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  Ribbon Banner Nestabilities
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
  • Use What I Have:  I haven't used Everyday Classics or Around & About Sentiments for a long, long time!
