Wishing You A Wonderful Birthday...

I'm still playing with the technique from PTI's Make It Monday #288 and here's another card I made with a Pantone chip.

I used Green Parakeet and white cardstock for my chip (3.0" x 3.75"), leaving an inch at the bottom in white. The flip flops were die-cut in Green Parakeet pattern paper, adding the strap in white and the hearts in Green Parakeet cardstock. The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

The chip is on fun foam for dimension and adhered to a white cardstock card base. My last step was adding clear gems to the hearts.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: August
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Green Parakeet, Green Parakeet & White Basics
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Flipping Out
  • Other: Gems; Fun Foam
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Color Blocking Three Ways (MIM #292)...

It's time again for another challenge! This week Laurie Schmidlin shows us how to use color blocking three different ways! It sure is a quick and nice addition to card making. You can watch the video here ⇢ Make It Monday #292: Color Blocking Three Ways.

I decided to use cardstock for my color blocking and picked one of my favorite color combinations: Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart and Hawaiian Shores. I die-cut one of each using a diagonal die and adhered them to a white cardstock card base. The middle one is stamped with a sentiment from Keep It Simple: Friendship in Smokey Shadow ink and is on fun foam for dimension.

The two bouquets are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with coordinating ink colors. I added a little glitter to the flowers and filled in the small flower centers with a black marker.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Bouquet, Keep It Simple: Friendship
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Green Parakeet, Lemon Tart, Hawaiian Shores, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Bitty Bouquet; Lil Inker Designs On The Diagonal

Papertrey July 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

The summer months sure are going by fast - and I'm happy about that because it's been so HOT here! 😩Bring on Fall please!!!! For this month's challenge, I didn't see much to go on with the inspiration photo, in fact, to me it just looked rather blah. It took me a while to come up with an idea and although I'm not thrilled with it, at least I made something.

On white cardstock I stamped the flowers in Spring Rain and Blueberry and the leaves in Soft Stone inks. I added a couple flourishes in the corners, finally using my Fancy Flourishes stamp set that I bought at least a year ago!

The sentiment is stamped in Blueberry Sky ink. The card base is white cardstock, with a piece of Spring Rain pattern paper on top. To finish things, I tied white crochet thread around the bottom.

😡I couldn't get a good picture of this card. I normally use Photoshop for editing my pictures, but I upgraded to the Sierra OS and now Photoshop doesn't work with it because it's an older version! I used iPhotos for my editing on this but can't get a brighter picture. Now I'll have to find a Photoshop replacement....any suggestions??

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Natural Beauties, Keep It Simple: Get Well, Fancy Flourishes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Rain Pattern
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Soft Stone
  • Other:  Crochet Thread
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday...

Just a quick card for today using some of my pattern paper. I keep saying I should use it on every card I make, but that's not going to happen!

On Ocean Tides cardstock, I added a layer of Super Succulents pattern paper, leaving cardstock showing on the right side.

The banner is die-cut in Ocean Tides cardstock. I stamped the sentiment in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with black embossing powder and heat set it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Offbeat Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Ocean Tides, Super Succulents
  • Ink:  Versamark
  • Dies:  PTI Sketched Shapes
  • Tools:  Heat Tool

Emboss Resist Shadow Sentiments (MIM #291)...

Ashley Cannon Newell shows us an interesting technique and one I haven't seen before in this week's video - Make It Monday #291: Emboss Resist Shadow Sentiments. This technique will work well on large sentiments. I'm using Humming Along again, I just love the flowers and birds in this set!

On white cardstock, I stamped the flowers in Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst and Scarlet Jewel inks. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. The humming bird body and wings are  stamped with Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks. I added the light pink using a Copic marker, I just couldn't get that little area to stamp correctly! I added Pure Poppy ink on top of the pink and black for the beak and eyes. The stamped bird is on top of 3 die-cuts stacked and glued together.

Smile is stamped in Hibiscus Burst ink and then re-stamped in Versamark ink (thank goodness for the MISTI!). I re-stamped it again in Versamark, this time placing the Smile stamp so it was slightly offset from the original stamping. I sprinkled it with clear embossing powder and heat set it. Next, I used a make-up brush and applied Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores inks to make the shadow stand out. I added more brushed ink to help fill in the background.

"It's your birthday" is stamped in black ink. I added a little strip of Tropical Teal stripes to help bring out the colors in the bird.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Humming Along, Ways To Say: Birthday, Wet Paint III
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Tropical Teal Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Hibiscus Burst, Scarlet Jewel, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal; Memento Tuxedo Black; Versamark
  • Copics:  RV10
  • Dies:  PTI Humming Along
  • Tools:  Heat Tool
  • Other:  Zing Embossing Powder
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

With Sympathy...

I've been cleaning out my craft room (again!) and came across some stamped images I've had for a while. I needed to make a sympathy card and decided to use the flowers from Friendship Jar Spring Fillers. I've used this stamp set many times and never get tired of it.

The flower image is stamped on white cardstock in black ink. I colored the flowers with Copic markers and stamped the sentiment in black ink. I didn't like looking at all that white background and used Aqua Mist ink with a make-up brush to soften the background.

I ran the panel through the Cuttlebug with a stitched die and placed the panel on a Berry Sorbet cardstock card base. At the last minute I added a bit of glitter to the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendship Jar Spring Fillers, Botanical Silhouettes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Berry Sorbet
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  G21, G24, R20, R22, R24
  • Dies:  MFT Wonky Stitched Rectangles
  • Other:  Glitter
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday...

Here's another quick and simple card that I made a while ago and never posted.  In fact, it was so quick to make that it's going to take me longer to type up this post than it did to make the card!

I placed a piece of frog pattern paper on an Enchanted Evening cardstock card base. On a white banner, I stamped the sentiment in the coordinating stamp ink.

The banner is on fun foam for dimension. I added the crochet thread and the card was complete! Cute birthday card for a little boy.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, White Stampers Select; Cloud 9 Design Baby Boy Ribbet
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening
  • Dies:  PTI Sketched Shapes

Papertrey July 2017 Create Along With Us...

Seeing the new retro station wagon and the Throwback Thursday from a couple weeks ago prompted me to take out my Enjoy The Ride stamps. I don't use this cute stamp set enough! This card, by Betsy Veldman inspired me to make my card!

Since I have a ton of pattern paper, why not start out by using a piece for my background. I thought this would take the place of stamping a sun, because to me the paper looks like sun rays. I die-cut the clouds in white cardstock three times each and stacked and glued them together for dimension.

The car is die-cut in white cardstock, stamped with black ink for the outline and Pure Poppy ink for the car itself. I used a couple grey Copic markers to color in the bumper. The banner is also die-cut in white cardstock and the sentiment stamped in black ink.

Although hard to see in the picture, I placed silver metal dots on the headlights - in person it gives it a shiny look, almost like the lights are on!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Enjoy The Ride
  • Paper:  PTI Comic Strip, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  C00, C3
  • Dies:  PTI Enjoy The Ride, Sketched Shapes, Cloud 1 & 2 Collection
  • Other:  Metal Dots
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Celebrate...

When I saw this gift box and bow die from PTI, I just had to have it! Of course I think that was sometime at the end of last year and I'm just getting around to using it! 😎

I die-cut the gift box in a polka dot pattern paper that has a little bit of texture - I was looking through some of my non-PTI paper and found it. I die-cut the bow in Aqua Mist because it matched the color in one of the polka dots exactly!

Celebrate is die-cut three times, twice in white cardstock and once in silver paper. I put it all together and placed it on a white cardstock card base. Super easy!

Card Details:
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist; Dena Designs; Silver Foil
  • Dies:  PTI Wrap It Up, Good Times
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Feel Better Soon...

I've been cleaning out my craft room and finding so many things I forgot I had, like Washi Tape! Remember when that was the big trend? I think it's still "trendy" but I have so much of it I'll never be able to use it up.

I pulled out a roll to make this quick card. On white cardstock I alternated the two different colors of tape and stamped the large sentiment at the bottom.

The panel is adhered to a True Black cardstock card base. A fast, masculine CAS card. It probably took me longer to type up this post than to make the card!😊

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #22
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Other:  Washi Tape
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

It's A Day To Celebrate...

The more I use the Altenew Painted Flowers set, the more I like it. It was a little intimidating when I first used it, but it's getting easier each time I stamp with it. And it makes beautiful flowers!

On white cardstock, I stamped the outline of the flowers in black ink. The first layer of the flowers is stamped in Spring Rain ink and the second layer in Blueberry Sky ink. The leaves are stamped in Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks. I added a few one layer leaves in the same green inks.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. I placed the panel on a Blueberry Sky cardstock card base with a strip of it showing on the right side. A quick and easy one layer card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Berries: Spring; Altenew Painted Flowers
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Combining Stenciling & Masking (MIM #290)...

I was excited to see this week's Make It Monday #290: Combining Stenciling & Masking because I love using stencils! Betsy Veldman shows us how easy it is to use both of these techniques to get one great look!

I created my own stencil using white cardstock and a curved rectangle nestability. I placed the stencil on top of a scalloped, white cardstock card base and added my petunia and hummingbird masks, die-cut in printer paper. I used washi tape to hold it in place, and with a make-up brush, applied Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores ink to create my sky background. I removed the outer stencil and the masks.

Using the MISTI, I stamped the hummingbird in Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy inks. I just love this color combination! The bird's beak and eye are stamped in black ink. The petunias are stamped in Berry Sorbet and Pure Poppy with Harvest Gold centers. The leaves are in another  favorite color combination - Green Parakeet and New Leaf inks. I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

I love how this turned out and will definitely use this technique again. 👍Oh, and a big thank you to Betsy for providing the guide on how she stamps the birds and flowers in the Humming Along set. If you didn't see it you can find it here ⇢⇢ Humming Along Guide.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Humming Along, Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy, Berry Sorbet, Pale Peony, Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Harvest Gold; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Humming Along, Noted: Scalloped A2 Collection; Curved Rectangle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Printer Paper

Grand Slam Birthday...

It's the 4th of July and it always makes me think of red, white and blue, baseball and picnics! I'm still trying to build up my masculine card inventory and pulled out a stamp set I haven't used for a while, 7th Inning Stretch. A perfect card to post for today!

On white cardstock, I stamped the baseball cap in Pure Poppy ink, the bat in Kraft ink and the sentiment in Nautical Blue ink.

I die-cut the tickets in Kraft cardstock and stamped them with red and blue inks and placed them on fun foam for dimension. The baseballs are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with red ink.

I placed a piece of starred pattern paper on a white cardstock card base and adhered the panel.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 7th Inning Stretch, Just The Ticket
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Kraft, 2008 Bitty Star Basics
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Kraft; Memento Nautical Blue

Celebrate Today & Every Day...

Happy July! This isn't one of my favorite months due to the hot weather, so I hope it goes by fast! 🌞

I had so much fun making the Pantone Chip cards from Make It Monday #288 that I decided to make more of them. They're so simple to do and really do make a nice, quick card.

My chip is 3.0" x 3.75", with a piece of Hibiscus Burst cardstock on the top and white on the bottom. I die-cut the flip flops in Hibiscus Burst polka dots, adding the white strap and Raspberry Fizz flowers. The flowers has a clear sequin on them.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. I placed the chip on fun foam for dimension and adhered it to a white cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Year of Flowers: Daffodils
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Hibiscus Burst Bitty Dots, White Stampers Select, Raspberry Fizz
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Flipping Out
  • Other:  Fun Foam; Pretty Pink Posh Sequins
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
