New Home #3

This is the last new home card I made - seems like a lot of people are buying houses lately! I used white for the card base and topped it with a piece of Kraft embossed with a woodgrain impression plate.  The townhouse is colored with Copics and mounted on a piece of Scarlet Jewel cardstock.  I stamped and cut out the tree and used a pop up dot for dimension.  I added the strip of polka dot paper behind the house, the silver dots in the corners and the sentiment.

  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Scarlet Jewel, 2009 Bitty Dot Basics
  • Tools:  PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate

Second Birthday

I'm certainly getting a lot of use of the By The Numbers dies I bought from PTI and here's another card using them.  I used white for the card base and topped it with a pink polka dot pattern paper.  The stamped image is Penny Black's "Sealed With A Kiss" and colored with Copics.  I made the banner with PTI dies and attached it to a string of twine.  I cut the two "2's" and slightly overlapped them for a shadow effect.  I added the border on the righthand side, a few crystals on the stamp flowers and the sentiment (made on the computer).

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Penny Black Sealed With A Kiss, PTI Simple Little Things (2007 Anniversary Limited), Studio G $1
  • Paper:  Stampin' Up, PTI Hawaiian Shores, Bazzill
  • Tools:  PTI Banner Dies, By The Number Dies, EK Success Balloon Punch, Deckled Rectangle Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch

Thank You!

Well, I'm hooked on using felt on cards now!  PTI's felt is wonderful; it's so easy to cut and has very little fuzz once it is cut.  For this card I used white for the card base and then layered it with Melon Berry cardstock and matching Green Tea Leaves pattern paper.  I ran the cardstock through the Cuttlebug for embossing.  I stamped the leaves and sentiment and then made the flower out of 3 felt die cuts, shaping them into the flower held together with glue dots.  The card still looked like it need something else so I added the ribbon and crystals.  You can see in the second picture the dimension of the flower.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Flower Fusion #1, Flower Fusion #4
  • Paper:  PTI Melon Berry, Green Tea Leaves
  • Tools:  PTI Flower Fusion #2 Die, Card Edgers #3; Labels Four Nestabilities, Stripes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
  • Other:  PTI Melon Berry Felt; Crystals, Ribbon, Pop Up Dots
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Clown Car Riley

As you can see, I just bought some of the new circus Rileys - they are all so cute!  For this card I used white for the card base and layered it with a bright blue cardstock embossed with the "Spots & Dots" Cuttlebug folder.  Riley is stamped and colored with Copics and mounted on layers of red and flowered patterned paper.  I used card edgers at the bottom to give it a little different look.  I added crystals to the flower centers, clear glitter to his hat, and stars and more stars!  Yes, I'm really into stars these days!  lol  Happy Birthday AnnK!

Happy Father's Day!

I can't tell you how many different ideas I had for a Father's Day card....and none of them seemed to "work" when I put them together - couldn't find the right paper, the right idea, etc.  So I'm very happy with this final card!  I used white for the card base topped with blue and a layer of striped paper.  The striped paper was 6x6, not quite big enough for a 5x7 card so I made it work by cutting a piece for the middle (where the stripes are running horizontal) and added two strips of blue to cover the "seams".  I made the banner with PTI dies, cut the stars and mounted them on coasters for a little thickness and "hung" them on twine.  I punched additional stars, adding silver balls and stamped the sentiment adding two silver metal dots.  I had a pack of "father's day" Jolee's stickers and added yellow cardstock behind the #1 Dad to make it pop a bit more.  Speaking of pop, there are lots of pop up dots (about 13!) on this card - good thing I'm not mailing it!  Happy Father's Day Dad!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Masculine Motifs, Studio G $1
  • Paper:  Stampin' Up
  • Tools:  PTI Banner Builder Collection, Stampin' Up Star Punches, Pinking Circle Nestabilities, Tag Trios Nestabilities

Boy/Girl Christening

I always see people making onesies for baby cards so I decided to use a onesie pattern to make a couple of christening cards.

Girl card:  I used white cardstock, cut the arms and form of the dress and then embossed it with a swiss dots embossing folder.  I cut the neck with a circle die, added a little scalloped pink around it and made the lace at the bottom with an edger punch.  For final touches I added the pearls, bow and cross.

Boy card:  I decided to use Bazzill cardstock because it looked like linen to me.  I cut out the arms, neck and legs and then added a few score lines along the arms, middle of outfit and the bottom of the onesie. For final touches I added the strips of blue on the arms, the bow, cross and snaps at the bottom.

Card Details:
  • Paper:  Bazzill, PTI Spring Rain
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities, Scor-Pal, Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch, Swiss Dots Cuttlebug Embossing Folder
  • Other:  Metal Adhesive Dots, Ribbon, Jolee Stickers, Pearls
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Merci!

I have to admit, I was a bit reluctant at first, but now I really like the Flower Fusion and Think Big Favorites stamp sets that PTI has been coming out with - and used two of them on this card.  I used white for the card base, topped with a layer of Raspberry Fizz and Raspberry Fizz Mix.  I stamped the stems onto white and cut the flowers from Raspberry Fizz felt, adding a black brad to the center.  I think adding the black cardstock really pulled all the colors together.  The final step was adding the twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Flower Fusion #3, Think Big Favorites #3
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Raspberry Fizz Mix, Stamper's Select White
  • Tools:  PTI Flower Fusion #3 Die
  • Other:  PTI Raspberry Fizz Felt, Brads, Twine, 3D Foames
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Special Delivery Birthday

PTI released the Postmarks set a few months ago and when I saw this card on Betsy Veldman's blog, I knew I had to make it!  I decided to make a "female" and a "male" version of the card.  For the purple, I used Plum Pudding for the card base, topped with white cardstock, edged in Tea Dye and distressed around the card.  I stamped the various "postmarks" on it, added the envelope, wrapped a bit of twine around it and adhered the flower and postage stamp.

The male card is almost the same but without the flower and I used Enchanted Evening for the card base.  I gave this to someone on their birthday so added May 8 as the postmark date on the canceled stamp.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Postmarks, Sending You
  • Paper:  PTI Plum Pudding, Enchanted Evening, Stamper's Select White
  • Tools:  PTI Tiny Envelope Die, Postage Die
  • Other:  Mulberry Flower, Twine, Edge Distresser Tool
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

1st Birthday

It took me a little while to come up with an idea for this card, but once I did I was very happy with it.  I used Kraft for the card base, topped with Spring Rain and a patterned paper with little shoes and hats on it - so cute!  I cut out the Mat Stack 3 die with Spring Moss, and then circles of blue and Spring Rain and mounted it on 3D foamies.  I layered the "one" with the darker blue and Spring Moss.  I added the banner with the sentiment, twine and a few stars - after all, the birthday boy is the star of the day!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss, Spring Rain, Kraft; Me & My Big Ideas Pattern
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 3 Die, Double Ended Banners Die, By The Numbers Die; Corner Rounder, Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities

Bringing Home Baby

This is another new release from Taylored Expressions - I saw this set and thought how cute!  And naturally I had to make a boy and a girl card.  I used Kraft for the card base and edged around it with Fresh Snow ink.  I stamped the images and colored them with Copics - mounting it on either blue or pink paper; for the girl's card I added some pretty pink pattern paper.  Although it can't really be seen in the picture, I used Glossy Accents on the windows to make them look like more like windows.  I added ribbon, baby buttons and the sentiment tied with a little twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Bringing Home Baby
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, DCWV
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder, Nestabilities Tag Trios
  • Other:  Fresh Snow Ink, Buttons, Ribbons, Twine, Glossy Accents, Copics

Happy Birthday Chickadee

I saw this card in the March/April 2010 issue of Paper Crafts and thought it was a cute card.  I used Kraft for the card base and edged around it with Fresh Snow ink.  I cut out Spring Moss and Orange Zest - what a great color combo!  I stamped the chick and added the button, wing and eye.  I stamped the sentiment, added a piece of patterned paper, a few dew drops and twine.  I made a few different colors since the card was quick and easy to do.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Everyday Button Bits
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Spring Moss, Orange Zest, Egg Hunt
  • Tools:  Regular and Scalloped Long Rectangles Nestabilities, Corner Rounder

Male Get Well

I bought a pack of coasters from PTI and wanted to see how well they work with dies and Copics - and from this card you can see the answer is great!  I pulled out Masculine Motifs for this card.  I used white for the card base topped with a piece of Kraft that I embossed with woodgrain.  I cut the coaster with a Mat Stack, stamped it with the tree image, colored it with Copics (I wasn't sure if the Copics would work on the coasters but was pleasantly surprised) and matted it on Scarlet Jewel.  I added the sentiment and a little twine for the finishing touches.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Masculine Motifs, Everyday Button Bits
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Scarlet Jewel
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 5, PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  PTI Coasters, Copics, Twine

Maternity

This is a new set just released by Taylored Expressions - and I really didn't have anything to make maternity cards with, so naturally I had to have it!  I used white for the card base and topped it with a piece of Raspberry Fizz and a layer of "wordy" blue paper (I can't read what it says..lol).  I stamped "Jenn", colored her with Copics and mounted her on another piece of Raspberry Fizz and a border of matching flowered patterned paper.  I stamped her shirt onto the same patterned paper, cut it out and adhered it to the image.  I added the sentiment, black and white polka dot ribbon, a crystal on her hair ribbon and the "oh baby" in the corner.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Moka Jenn
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Raspberry Fizz Mix, Blueberry Sky
  • Tools:  Labels Fourteen Nestabilities, Tag Trio Nestabilities, Oval Standard & Scalloped Nestabilities, PTI Banner Borders, Corner Rounder
