Ombre Cluster Stamping (MIM #259)...

Another week has flown by and it's the end of August already! And time for another Make It Monday! This week's Make It Monday #259: Ombre Cluster Stamping is hosted by Dawn McVey, where she shows us a simple way of stamping by using similar colors to create an ombre look.

Is everyone thinking Fall at this time? I know I'm so ready for it after the hot summer we had! I did see that a lot of the cards already posted showed Fall colors or ideas! I immediately thought of the Leaf Prints set for my card.

On Rustic White cardstock, I stamped the leaves in three different colors (Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss) of green ink. The sentiment is also stamped in Ripe Avocado ink.

I placed the panel on a Ripe Avocado cardstock card base, rounding the right hand corners and leaving a bit of the card base showing on the right. To finish things for my masculine card - a bit of masculine jute! lol A quick, easy and fun card to add to my stash!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Leaf Prints, Up, Up & Away
  • Paper:  PTI Ripe Avocado, Rustic White
  • Ink:  PTI Ripe Avocado, Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Jute
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday...

I've been seeing a lot of pleated cards on Pinterest recently so thought I'd give it a try too.

I found a YouTube video called Pleated Skirt Fold For Cards by Debbie Henderson and followed her instructions for making the card. Debbie shows how to make two different sizes and I picked the landscape style card. This one starts with an 11.5" x 4" piece of double-sided paper, scored at 3", 4", 6", 7", 9" and 10". You do have to cut a piece off the bottom diagonally so it's best to watch the video to see how to do it rather than trying to explain it!

I adhered the pleated skirt to a white cardstock card base and added a strip of Spring Moss cardstock at the top. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a few clear sequins.

The card needed something else so I wrapped striped Strawberry twine around the top to match the party hats.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Sketched Shapes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Moss; Imaginisce All Kinds Of Happy
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Tools:  Scor-Pal
  • Other:  Twine; Pretty Pink Posh Sequins
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Just For You...

Today, just a simple card that's bright and cheery. I've had this Stampin' Up set for quite a while so it's time to use it!

I stamped the "just for you" on white cardstock in black ink and cut it out. Since it's such a large sentiment, it was really easy to fussy cut!

To create the background for the sentiment, I stamped the large flowers in Hibiscus Burst ink with Pure Poppy ink centers. The smaller flowers are stamped in Lovely Lady and Hawaiian Shores inks and the leaves in Green Parakeet ink.

The sentiment is on foam tape and the panel adhered to a Hibiscus Burst cardstock card base, positioned with just 3 sides showing for a little different look.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop Florals; Stampin' Up Botanicals For You
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, Lovely Lady, Green Parakeet, Hawaiian Shores; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Sending A Garden Of Birthday Wishes...

I love Papertrey's Garden Gate kit! Have I said that before? If I did, I'm saying it again. There are just so many things to do with this kit!

I placed the lattice stencil on top of white cardstock and applied Aqua Mist ink with a make-up brush,  creating an ombre look with darker ink at the top. The wisteria flowers are stamped in two shades of purple (Amethyst Allure, Lulu Lavender) ink and two shades of green (Green Parakeet, New Leaf) ink. I added the flourish with Kraft ink. Is it a flourish or a branch? lol

The hollyhocks are stamped with the same purple and green inks and I added black ink for the flower centers. The sign is die-cut three times in Aqua Mist cardstock, stacked and glued together. The border is stamped in Amethyst Allure and the sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink. I added glitter to the flowers for a bit of sparkle.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Make It Market Kit: Garden Gate
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist
  • Ink:  PTI Green Parakeet, New Leaf, Amethyst Allure, Smokey Shadow, Aqua Mist; Memento Lulu Lavender, Tuxedo Black

Papertrey August 2016 Blog Hop Challenge...

One would think when I saw this month's inspiration photo that it would be easy to make something from it, right? Wrong! I'm really not thrilled with this card - I couldn't get my creative juices to function so I'm blaming it on the heat (at least that's my "current" excuse). When looking at the photo, I saw Melon Berry, white and Soft Stone colors, and even though I don't see navy like Nichole does, I included it on my card.

On white cardstock, I stamped the leaves in Soft Stone ink. Both layers of the flowers are stamped in Melon Berry ink. The first layer was done by stamping off the ink once to get a lighter looking color and the second layer is stamped with full strength ink. I added the little dots around the flowers by doing the same thing, some are stamped with full ink and others stamped off.

I added the sentiment and flower centers in Enchanted Evening ink. The panel is placed on a Soft Stone cardstock card base. I tied white crochet thread around the top to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Art With Heart, What The Doodle: Feather
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Soft Stone
  • Ink:  PTI Melon Berry, Enchanted Evening, Soft Stone
  • Other:  Crochet Thread
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Cover Plate Tags (MIM #258)...

I was so happy to see this week's Make It Monday #258: Cover Plate Tags because it looked easy! Laurie Willison shows us another fun way to use Cover Plates by placing the die-cuts on gift tags.

I decided to use the Twisted Cover Plate, die-cut it in Hawaiian Shores cardstock and placed it on a Tag Sale #6 die-cut, cut in white cardstock. At this point, I was originally going to decorate the tag with flowers but thought, why not make a Christmas Tag with some non-traditional colors?

The polar bear is die-cut in white cardstock and his cute sweater is colored with Copics. I placed him on the tag with foam tape for dimension. The sentiment is stamped in Pure Poppy ink on a Building Blocks die-cut, popped up with fun foam. To finish things, I added red thread for the tag tie.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Warmest Wishes, Peaceful Pinecones
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  BG15, E25, R27
  • Dies:  PTI Twisted Cover Plate, Tag Sale #6, Warmest Wishes, Building Blocks
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Fun Foam; Thread

Sending Birthday Wishes...

And another set I can't take off my craft desk is Painted Petals - I think this is one of my favorite Papertrey anniversary sets.

I started by stamping the leaves in Spring Moss ink on Fresh Linen cardstock. The flower is die-cut and stamped with Sweet Blush and Berry Sorbet inks with the center in Lemon Tart. I added the little dots in Smokey Shadow ink and placed it on foam tape for dimension. I also added a few surrounding little flowers in Sweet Blush ink.

The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink and I rounded the right hand corner to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Painted Petals
  • Paper:  PTI Fresh Snow Linen
  • Ink:  PTI Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss, Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Painted Petals
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Foam Tape

Just A Note...

The "splits" series are quick and fun stamps/dies to use and make quick cards.

For this card, I started by scoring a piece of white cardstock every half inch. I die-cut the splits image in white cardstock, stamped it in black ink and colored in part of the image with Copics. I placed the image on foam tape.

The panel is adhered to a Tropical Teal cardstock card base. Quick and easy!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Splits: Just A Note
  • Paper:  PTI Tropical Teal, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  BG49, R32

Happy Birthday...

I haven't put my Color Pop Florals kit away - it sits on my craft desk because I'm still crazy about stenciling! I could stencil all day!

For this card I stenciled the flowers on Fresh Snow Linen cardstock, using Hawaiian Shores and Tropical Teal inks for the larger flowers and Sweet Blush and Berry Sorbet inks for the smaller flowers. The leaves are stamped in Spring Moss ink, with some areas stenciled a little darker for a shaded effect.

I stamped the sentiment in Tropical Teal ink and added the outlined border in the same ink. The panel is on a Tropical Teal cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop Florals, Outlined, Bountiful Banners
  • Paper:  PTI Tropical Teal, Fresh Snow Linen
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Tropical Teal, Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Spring Moss

Thinking Of You...

This is a quick card I made a while ago and for some reason it missed getting posted.

I used gelatos on this, rubbing them on a clear block with a little bit of water and applying it to watercolor paper using the "smooshing" method. Once it was dry, I stamped the birds in black ink and added the sentiment in Enchanted Evening ink.

I rounded the corners and placed the panel on an Enchanted Evening cardstock card base. Crochet thread completed the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Botanical Silhouettes; Stampin' Up World of Dreams
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening; Bristol Watercolor
  • Ink:  PTI Enchanted Evening; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Metallic Mint, Blueberry Gelatos; Crochet Thread

Happy Birthday Donuts...

I have a lot of dimensional stickers I bought over the years and don't really use that much anymore. I was looking through them and thought they'd make quick cards for SAS4K!

I placed the donuts on white cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black ink. That's it and the card was done! I'm sure someone in the hospital would be happy to receive this!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Just Desserts
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Recollections Dimensional Stickers
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy 50th Anniversary...

I couldn't wait to get my Garden Gate kit and get started on making something with it. I needed to make a couple of anniversary cards and thought this kit would be perfect for it.

I started with a Fresh Linen white cardstock card base and lightly applied Aqua Mist ink with a makeup brush for the background. I die-cut the gate twice, leaving one with the doors as is and cutting the lattice doors in the second. I stamped the top scrolling part with Smokey Shadow ink and glued the two gates together.

The flowers were die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Berry Sorbet/Pure Poppy, Hawaiian Shores/Tropical Teal, Harvest Gold/Summer Sunrise inks. I added Smokey Shadow dots to the centers. The leaves are stamped in Green Parakeet and Mint Julep inks.

For the sign, I die-cut it three times and stacked it. The border is stamped in Versamark ink, sprinkled with gold embossing powder and heat set. The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. I added the "50", die-cut in gold paper and stacked on two layers.

I arranged the flowers on the card and added the top sentiment, also stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. A little glitter to the flowers finished the card. Love this kit!!!

Let Your Faith...

I pulled out my Don't Forget To Write kit and scalloped note card die for this card. Very happy with both of these items!

On watercolor paper, die-cut with a stitched rectangle, I brushed Hibiscus Burst ink diagonally across the paper and added some splatters with Pure Poppy ink. I set it aside to dry.

I die-cut the flower image in white cardstock and stamped the main flowers in Hibiscus Burst and Pure Poppy inks, the leaves in Mint Julep ink and the other flowers in Ocean Tides and Aqua Mist inks. I placed the flowers on foam tape for dimension.

Faith is die-cut three times in white cardstock and stacked together. I added the sentiment in black ink and placed the panel on a Hibiscus Burst cardstock card base, die-cut with a scalloped die.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Don't Forget To Write, Inspired: Faith
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select; Tim Holtz Watercolor
  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Pure Poppy, Aqua Mist, Ocean Tides, Mint Julep; Versafine Onyx Black

May Your Birthday...

Several months ago, I tried to make something with watercolor paper and didn't like the way it turned out. Instead of throwing my "mistake" away, I decided to keep it because I was hoping I could use it in the future. This is what I did with it.

On watercolor paper I applied Tumbled Glass ink with a paintbrush and water, just brushing the ink across the paper in no particular pattern. After it dried, I stamped the sentiment swirl with black ink and placed the panel on a True Black cardstock card base.

A few clear sequins and the card was completed. I think my "mistake" turned out okay after all! lol

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Script Swirls: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI True Black; 140# Watercolor
  • Ink:  Tim Holtz Tumbled Glass Distress; Memento Tuxedo Black

Sentiment Strip Grounding (MIM #257)...

When I saw this week's Make It Monday #257: Sentiment Strip Grounding, I was ready to give it a go, because the idea of what stamp set to use popped right into my mind. Lexi Daly is the host and she shows us how to ground stamp images with a sentiment. What a quick, fun and easy technique!!

I immediately thought of using the cute telephone from Heart-2-Heart #4 and die-cut the phone three times in Ocean Tides cardstock. Using thin, black wire, I wrapped it around a small paintbrush handle to get it coiled and attached it to the phone, placing it between one of the layers before gluing them together. The wire adds a tiny bit of dimension!

On a piece of white cardstock, I added a layer of polka dot pattern paper. I cut a 3/4" strip of Aqua Mist cardstock, stamped the sentiment in black and placed the strip under the phone. I wanted to give the appearance that the phone is sitting on a table with a pretty, polka dot wallpaper background. At least in my mind, that's what it looks like!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #4
  • Paper:  PTI Ocean Tides, White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist, Polka Dot Parade
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #4
  • Other:  Wire
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

You're Such A Squeal...

My friend sent me this cute little pig and watermelon  - they're on springs and will wobble on the card, so cute for a little kid!

I used the notecard die from the Don't Forget To Write set and die-cut the card base in Pale Peony cardstock, adding a layer of turquoise pattern paper. I die-cut the next layer in white cardstock, stamped the edges in Hawaiian Shores and Pale Peony inks and placed it on foam tape. I attached the pig and the card was done!

The watermelon card is made almost the same. I used Pure Poppy cardstock for the card base, adding the next layer in white cardstock, stamped in Pure Poppy and New Leaf inks. To help fill in some of the white, I stamped splatters in Pure Poppy ink. I placed it on foam tape for dimension and attached the watermelon. Quick and cute!

Celebrate...

I just wanted to make a fast card and pulled out pattern paper.

Celebrate is die-cut three times in Winter Wisteria, stacked and glued together. Before gluing them together, I stamped the outline and sentiment in black ink, adding a little clear gem to the bow.

I placed the die-cut on a piece of Confetti Toss paper and adhered it to a Winter Wisteria cardstock card base. I like that PTI lists the coordinating colors on the back of these paper packs - it makes it so easy to put a quick card together.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Splits: Celebrate
  • Paper:  PTI Winter Wisteria, Confetti Toss
  • Ink:  Versafine Onyx Black

Stamp-A-Faire: Remix

There isn't a Make It Monday this week. In it's place is "SAF Remix", where we're asked to redo a card we weren't happy with on SAF day. I actually was very happy with the cards I made but wanted to try the "Watercolor Like A Master" technique again.

For SAF, I made my card using Tropical Teal and Aqua Mist inks. I love this color combination but I also love the color combination Kay used in her video. So for this challenge I'm redoing my card with her color selections.

On watercolor paper I inked up the mum stamps in Berry Sorbet and Summer Sunrise inks. I added the leaves in Spring Moss and Simply Chartreuse inks. Using a brush with water, I applied the water to the edges of the flowers and leaves to soften them up a bit. It really gives it a "watercolor" look. The splatters, added by flicking ink off of a brush are in Berry Sorbet and Spring Moss inks.

Prayer is die-cut in Berry Sorbet three times, stacked and glued together. I added the other parts of the sentiment in black ink. I rounded the bottom right corner and placed the panel on a Berry Sorbet cardstock card base with the left showing. I really like how both of these turned out!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mum's The Word, Inspired: Prayer
  • Paper:  PTI Berry Sorbet; Ranger Watercolor
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, Spring Moss, Simply Chartreuse; Versafine Onyx Black
  • Dies:  PTI Inspired: Prayer
  • Tools: Corner Rounder
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Celebrate Today...

Wanted to do a little color blending today.

On white cardstock I stamped the Venice background in Versamark ink, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heat set it. Using a blending tool, I rubbed Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold and Lemon Tart inks over it to create an ombre look.

Celebrate is stamped in black ink on a banner die-cut in white cardstock. I adhered it with foam tape for a little dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Background Basics: Venice, Bountiful Banners
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Harvest Gold, Lemon Tart; Versafine Onyx Black; Versamark
  • Dies:  PTI Bountiful Banners
  • Tools:  Heat Tool
  • Other:  Zing Embossing Powder; Foam Tape

Welcome Baby...

I can't believe it's August! The summer seems to be going by quickly even with all the hot weather we've been having. Closer to Fall every day!

I haven't made a baby card or used this stamp set for a while - it's nice to use some of my older sets! I die-cut the card base in Pale Peony cardstock. On a stitched white cardstock panel, I stenciled the flowers with Pale Peony and Berry Sorbet inks and the leaves in Soft Stone and Seattle inks. Isn't it nice to see the leaves in a different color than green?

The bear is stamped in Pale Peony ink and die-cut three times in white cardstock, stacked and glued together. The sentiment is stamped in Pale Peony and Soft Stone inks. I added sheer white ribbon to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop Florals, Polka Dot Parade #4
  • Paper:  PTI Pale Peony, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Soft Stone; Amuse Seattle
  • Dies:  PTI Noted: A2 Scalloped, Polka Dot Parade #4
  • Other:  Ribbon
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
