Happy Birthday (CAS #20)

I've been on a roll making masculine cards recently....the ideas seem to be coming a little easier!

This card was really quick because I used double-sided patterned paper for the background - the bear and trees were on one side and green stripes on the other side.  I cut both strips and adhered them to a white card base, adding the dark green strip down the middle to cover the seam.

I stamped the sentiment on a die cut made with Boutique Borders, reinforced it with coaster for support and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  Perfect card for someone who likes to hunt or just enjoys the outdoors!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Boutique Borders: Birthday
  • Paper:  Imaginisce; PTI Pinefeather
  • Ink:  Memento Espresso Truffle
  • Tools:  PTI Boutique Borders: Birthday Die
  • Other:  PTI Coaster; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday Candles

I'm playing with straws again, trying to think up more ideas what to do with them!

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of pink and green pattern paper, placing a white scalloped edge around it. The edge was made with a heart border; I only used the very tops of the heart to create the scallop look!

I cut the straws and adhered them to the card with glue dots.  I was trying to think of how to put a flame on the candle and remembered I had a candle die!  I die-cut the candle in Lemon Tart cardstock, cut 1/3 of it and stuffed it into the straw and added glitter to the flame.  It worked perfectly!

I stamped the sentiment and added the ribbon to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart; Me & My Big Ideas; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Heart Border Die, Birthday Style Dies
  • Other:  Straws; Ribbon; Glue Dots; Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

HAPPY birthday

I must have cut these felt flower circles to use for something else because I found them in an envelope in a drawer.  Time to use them!

Summer Sunrise cardstock is the card base with rounded right hand corners.  I stamped the stems on white cardstock at different heights.  I die-cut the flowers and stamped them with mango ink and placed the Harvest Gold felt circles in the centers.  I stamped the sentiment along the edge of the card instead of my normal bottom or center.  Yes, I dare to be different sometimes!

My last step was adding the Marigold twine, tying it in a nice bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #12, Flower Fusion #4, Flower Fusion #12
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Mango Madness
  • Tools:  PTI Flower Fusion #12 Dies; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  PTI Harvest Gold Felt; Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Get Well Soon

I found this flowered paper while I was looking through all the pattern paper I have....and for some reason the colors seemed like they would be fun to work with.

I used white cardstock for the card base and added the pattern paper.  I placed a doily on top and die-cut the tag.  I stamped the teacups and sentiment and looped Pink Sorbet twine through the hole.

Too plain looking I thought....I needed to pull more of the pink color out of the pattern paper....so I added the leafy border in raspberry at the bottom.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tea For Two, Tea For Two Additions
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, VersaMagic Thatched Straw
  • Tools:  PTI Tag Sale #3 Die, Leafy Vine Border Die
  • Other:  Twine; Doily

May Each New Day.... (CAS #19)

I needed a quick sympathy card for a man and naturally I didn't want to make anything too frilly.

I used Ripe Avocado cardstock for the card base and added a layer of True Black cardstock.  I stamped the flowers onto Vintage Cream cardstock, stamping them once fully inked, and then again with the leftover ink on the stamp.  I stamped them slightly next to the image to create a shadow effect.  I stamped the sentiment and the butterfly.

I ran the image through the Cuttlebug using my Striped Impression plate.  I added a few dots of black Pearl Pen to the butterfly body.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI With Sympathy, Harvest Berries
  • Paper:  PTI Ripe Avocado, True Black, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  Memento Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Stripes Impression Plate
  • Other:  Pearl Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

A Very Happy Birthday 2 You

I was really just fooling around when I made this card, I wanted to see if I could stamp the squares on it straight!  haha  I think I did a pretty good job!  This will make a nice masculine card.

I used Spring Rain cardstock for the card base, rounding the right hand corners.  I stamped the squares in two different blue inks.  Next, I die-cut the frame and stamped it in teal ink.

For a bit of a change, I decided to put the tag on sideways!  I stamped the sentiment and adhered the tag to the card on foam tape.  I wrapped a bit of Ocean twine on the card, added the silver metal dot to the tag and adhered it to the card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Framed Out #1, Framed Out #12
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Summer Sky, Teal Zeal, Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Framed Out #12 Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Twine; Metal Dot; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

birthday wishes

I really like this Cuttlebug embossing folder - Geometric Rings - it really adds a nice design to cards.

I used Lemon Tart cardstock as my card base, topping it with a layer of embossed white cardstock.  I die-cut the flowers in yellow and green cardstock and adhered them to the card.

I die-cut the banner, stamped it with the sentiment and adhered to the card on foam tape.  Instead of placing the banner straight across the card, I placed it at an angle which I think adds to the card.  I added a couple of sequins to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Up, Up & Away
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, Spring Moss, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Memory Box Chloe Stem; Ribbon Banner Nestabilities; Cuttlebug Geometric Rings Embossing Folder
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Sequins
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday

I must go through phases where I like to use a particular stamp set - a lot.  That is the case with Flower Fusion #6 - I've made many cards with it!

I used Winter Wisteria cardstock for the card base.  Onto white cardstock, I stamped the background leaves.  I die-cut the flowers, stamped them in purple ink and adhered them to the card, placing the top two on foam tape for dimension.  I "shredded" the edges of the white cardstock using my paper distresser.

I stamped the sentiment, added the Orchid twine and gems to the flower centers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Butterflies, Flower Fusion #6, Turning A New Leaf
  • Paper:  PTI Winter Wisteria, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Lulu Lavender, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Aloe Vera
  • Tools:  PTI Flower Fusion #6 Dies; Tim Holtz Paper Distresser

Just A Little Something

Ink blowing is really a lot of fun, so if you haven't tried it yet, you really should!

I used Summer Sunrise cardstock for the card base, using card edgers on the bottom.  I took a piece of white cardstock and dripped the ink at the top of the card and quickly blew it with a straw.  The ink really does go wherever it wants so you don't have a lot of control with it.  I used three different colors to make the pattern.

After it dried, I cut the bottom with card edgers and stamped the sentiment.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #22
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Up Summer Sun, Rose Red, Pretty In Pink
  • Tools:  PTI Card Edgers #1
  • Other:  Straw
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Age Is Just A Number

Today is the first day of summer and the colors on this card remind me of barbecue/picnic colors!  This uses a new Amuse stamp set I received as a gift for hosting a qualifying workshop!  I really like this set because the images are nice and big!  It's specifically made to achieve the "chalkboard" look that's so popular right now.

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of black.  I found this red & white checkerboard paper in my stash and liked that it also had a bit of black running through it.

In black, I die-cut the shape with Labels One nestabilities.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heated it with my heat gun.  Next, I took a dauber with a bit of white ink on it and lightly rubbed it on the black cardstock to give the appearance that chalk was not completely removed from a chalkboard.

I adhered the black cardstock onto grey cardstock and placed the image on foam tape for dimension.  I added plain white twine at the bottom to complete the card.  This will make a nice male card - fire up the grill!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Amuse Eat Cake
  • Paper:  PTI True Black; DCWV; Core'dinations; Recollections
  • Ink:  Colorbox Frost White
  • Tools:  Labels One Nestabilities
  • Other:  Zing White Embossing Powder; Versamark; Heat Gun; Foam Tape; Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Thinking Of You (CAS #18)

When making a card, it can't get any simpler than this - just a few steps and it's done.

I used Pure Poppy cardstock for the card base and layered it with Vintage Cream cardstock, stamping the sentiment on the bottom and embossing it using my woodgrain impression plate. Hard to see in the picture, but it's there!

Next I die-cut the tree branch in brown and the bird in matching red cardstock.  I placed the bird on a piece of foam tape for dimension.  I think this is a lovely sympathy card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Take Three Spring
  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, Vintage Cream; Bazzill
  • Ink:  Memento Toffee Crunch
  • Tools:  PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate; Memory Box Nestled Bird, Woodland Branch
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday Tulips

This is another card I made a while ago and never posted!  I borrowed this set from my PTI buddy Linda and stamped flower images to have on hand when I want to make a card using these beautiful tulips.

The card base is Berry Sorbet cardstock, topped with a layer of white cardstock stamped with the flower image.  I colored the flowers with Copics and stamped the sentiment.  Unfortunately, I don't have the Copic colors I used because I made this card before I got smart enough to start writing things down!! haha

To finish the card, I added the photo corners in Summer Sunrise cardstock and the butterfly in matching polka dot paper.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendship Jar Spring Fillers, Botanical Silhouettes
  • Paper:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Summer Sunrise, White Stampers Select, Bitty Dots
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Sizzix Photo Corners; Martha Stewart Butterfly Punch
  • Other:  Copics
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday (CAS #17)

Again, I'm using this seven color combination I've become so fond of!  This was so simple and quick to make.

I used black cardstock for the card base because all of these colors go well with it.  I stamped a stripe in each color, making each one shorter until the middle, then made them longer again.  I also had to carefully space them apart so they would all fit on the card!  I stamped the sentiment on the middle stripe.  After I was done with the stamping, I ran it through the Cuttlebug using my new Stars Impression plate.  Can you tell I like using stars???

After looking at it, of course, it still needed something.  I added the silver metal star and it was completed!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Sketched Shapes, Bountiful Banners
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Sweet Plum, Summer Sky, Pear Tart, Cantaloupe, Rose Bud, Love Letter, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Aquatic Splash
  • Tools:  PTI Star Impression Plate
  • Other:  Metal Star
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday Banners

Straws are the new trend - I'm seeing lots of uses for them on Pinterest!  My friend (thanks Jill!) sent me a bunch of pretty straws ....and it's time to start using them!

I decided to use a green and white striped straw and found a nice pastel pattern paper to center the colors around.  I die-cut the banners, stamping each one in colors to match the circles on the paper.  I stamped "happy birthday" on each banner, using a different stamp font.  The pattern paper is placed on top of a Spring Rain card base.

I wrapped the banners around the straw using scor-tape and a glue dot - it was hard to get those banners to stay wrapped around the straw!!  I already had the arrows die-cut and thought I would add them to the card, stamping them in the same colors as the banners.  They are placed on foam tape for dimension.  I also placed the ends of the banners on foam tape so they would be raised on the card.

The straw is adhered to the card base with glue dots.  It needed something else so I added the blue ribbon.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Basics, Sketched Shapes
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Summer Sky, Lulu Lavender, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Aloe Vera
  • Tools:  PTI Sketched Shapes Dies
  • Other:  Queen & Co. Straws; Ribbon; Foam Tape; Scor-Tape; Glue Dots
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Father's Day!

This set from PTI is just perfect for dads and, come to think of it, for most men.  Can't you just picture them sitting in their lounge chair watching tv?

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base.  I took a piece of Rustic White cardstock and edged around it in antique linen distress ink. Next I die-cut the main sentiment using another piece of Kraft, and stamped the design in blue and the sentiment in black ink.  I die-cut the chair from a piece of scrap paper and stamped the legs and handle onto it with black ink.  I also die-cut the chair in coaster for a bit of support and mounted it to the card with foam tape.

I stamped the tv directly onto the card, adding the antenna and "dad" and star on the screen.  I stamped the middle sentiments in black and blue inks and adhered the Kraft die-cut with foam tape.  I wanted to put some more blue on the card and die-cut a blue strip using card edgers and placed it at the bottom of the card.  My last step was adding the midnight blue twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #3, Boutique Borders: Father, 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Rustic Cream, Enchanted Evening; Provocraft
  • Ink:  Memento Danube Blue, Sweet Plum, Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress
  • Tools:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #3 Die, Boutique Borders: Father Die, Card Edgers #1 Die
  • Other:  Twine; Coaster; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  5.0" x 7.0"

Oh Baby!

I think this set from Taylored Expressions is adorable!

I used white for the card base, added a layer of light brown and a layer of pink striped paper.  I stamped the image on white and colored it with Copics.  I die-cut it with an oval nestability and placed it on a scalloped oval.

I stamped the sentiment and die-cut it with a scalloped rectangle.  I stamped "oh baby" on a smaller oval and layered it on a pink.

To bring out the darker pink stripe in the paper, I die-cut the corners in a coordinating color.  I tied a ribbon around the card and placed the image on foam tape for dimension.  My last step was adding a tiny gem to the ribbon in her hair.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Jenn
  • Paper:  DCWV; Bazzill
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Oval Nestabilities; Cuttlebug Corners; Scalloped Long Rectangle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Copics; Ribbon; Gem; Foam Tape

Grand Slam Birthday!

Today is Flag Day, and I don't have a flag card, but at least I have a red, white and blue card!  And baseball is a national pastime, so they both should count. This is a new set from PTI - I was on the fence about getting it, but now I'm glad I did.  It's great for all sorts of occasions and especially for baseball lovers.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a striped pattern paper.  I die-cut the glove, bat and balls and stamped them.  I cut a strip of red, blue and white, layered them and stamped the sentiment.  I placed the glove on foam tape for dimension and adhered the bat and balls.

Baseball made me think of "all stars" and that gave me the idea to add the red stars to the card.  I think they really complete it!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 7th Inning Stretch
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Pure Poppy, Enchanted Evening, White Stampers Select; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black, Rich Cocoa, Love Letter, Toffee Crunch
  • Tools:  PTI 7th Inning Stretch Dies; Star Punch
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

birthday wishes

This is one of my favorite PTI sets and I need to use it more often!  And I really like this color combination, which I have used quite a bit.  I made a card similar to this last year in a square size and decided to try on A2 size, changing it up just a bit.

I used Raspberry Fizz cardstock for the card base and added a layer of black cardstock. The smaller flowers are stamped using Rosebud and Turquoise Gem inks.  The bigger flower was made in five layers:  1) stamped with Rosebud and Turquoise Gem inks, 2) two layers of die-cut vellum leaves and 3) two layers of die-cut flowers in Raspberry Fizz and Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  I also randomly stamped the leaves in Wheat ink.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a bit of glitter to the flower centers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Lovely Layers, Make A Wish
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, True Black, Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Rose Bud, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem, Wheat
  • Tools:  PTI Lovely Layers Dies
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Glitter; Vellum
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Our Thoughts and Prayers (CAS #16)

This is a card I made last year and never posted....see how much I have in my inventory?  haha

This was a very quick and simple card to make.  I used Plum Pudding cardstock for the card base, rounding the bottom corners.  I stamped the butterflies and sentiment on white cardstock and ran it through the Cuttlebug, using my Linen Impression Plate.  Um, that's it - done!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #10, Framed Out #10
  • Paper:  PTI Plum Pudding, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea; Memento Pear Tart, Tuxedo Black

Just A Note

I know this isn't a normal day for me to post, but I have so many cards in my "blog inventory" that I need to start posting more often!

I used Enchanted Evening cardstock for the card base.  I took a piece of white cardstock and used card edgers to create the left side of the card.  Next I stamped the flowers, stems and sentiment, right on top of part of  the image.

I edged around the card with tea dye distress ink.  For a bit of decoration, I added gems to some of the flower centers and my favorite bee!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Botanical Silhouettes (2010 Anniversary set)
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Bamboo Leaves, Cantaloupe, Bahama Blue, Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Tea Dye
  • Tools:  PTI Card Edgers #3

Happy Birthday "Daughter"

I love this gingham paper from Amuse....but unfortunately they aren't making it anymore!  If I'd known, I would have stocked up on it!!!  I really like the size of the blocks - not too big or too small.

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of green gingham.  I cut a strip of yellow flower pattern paper and used an eyelet border on each side.  I die-cut a Labels 22 in yellow cardstock and three circles in green, white and yellow.  I stamped the sentiment on white and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  This is for someone's daughter-in-law, but she wanted it to say "daughter".

I die-cut the 30 in green and placed it on the yellow cardstock.  I added the ribbon around the card and pearls to the labels 22 die-cut.  The card needed something else so I decided to use photo corners, adding a pearl to the centers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  JustRite Times New Roman 15 Pt.
  • Paper:  PTI Lemon Tart, Spring Moss; Amuse Gingham; Anna Griffin
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Alpha Block Numbers; Labels 22, Standard Circle Nestabilities; Martha Stewart Eyelet Border Punch; Sizzix Photo Corners
  • Other:  Ribbon; Foam Tape; Pearls
  • Card Size:  5.5" x 5.5"

Birthday Wishes

I don't usually use the color orange much so I'm trying to step out of my comfort zone here.

I used Orange Zest cardstock for the card base.  I stamped the balloons, streamers and confetti on white cardstock.  I die-cut one balloon, stamped it in orange ink and adhered it to the card with foam tape for dimension.  I stamped the balloon strings and added the "tie" at the bottom of them.

I even used orange ink to stamp the sentiment instead of my usual black ink!  lol  I adhered the stamped image slightly to the right of the card so you would see a strip of orange on the left side.  Since I have a million sequins, I placed a few on the card to jazz it up.  I like this color combination a lot!!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Style
  • Paper:  PTI Orange Zest, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tangelo, Pear Tart, Cantaloupe
  • Tools:  PTI Birthday Style Die
  • Other:  Sequins; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

With Sympathy (CAS #15)

I was really just playing around with colors when I made this - the soft colors I used are so pretty!

I used Aqua Mist cardstock for the card base.  I stamped the leaves in green and added the flowers in light blue ink, adding cantaloupe ink to the centers.  I also stamped the butterfly in the same color.

I decided to make this a sympathy card and stamped the sentiment right through the middle of the image.  I added a gem to the butterfly center and a bit of glitter on the edges of the leaves.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Embroidered Blooms, Botanical Silhouettes, Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  VersaMagic Tea Leaves, Aquatic Splash, Thatched Straw; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Gem; Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy 35th Birthday, Son

This card is similar to one I made earlier in the year, but I really like the color combinations used!

I used True Black for the card base and added a layer of teal chevron pattern paper.  Next came another layer of black and white, adding black brads in each of the corners.

I die-cut the tag in Hawaiian Shores cardstock and adhered it to the white cardstock.  I die-cut circles in black and chevron paper, placing them on foam tape for dimension.  The recipient was turning 35 and I die-cut the age and placed it on top of the circle.

I die-cut the banner and stamped it with the sentiment, added two more brads and placed it on foam tape for additional dimension.  Since it was for a "son", I die-cut the star and stamped "for you son" on it.  I tied the star on with charcoal twine looped through the tag hole.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Tags II, Just The Ticket
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores; Amuse Chevron
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Tag Sale #5 Die, Fabulous Frames Die, Alpha Block Numbers Dies, Tiny Tags; Circle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Brads; Twine; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday (CAS #14)

Washi tape!  I can't get enough of it and it's so easy to work with.  This was such a quick card to make...the "hardest" part was stamping the sentiments between the tape.

I used black cardstock for the card base.  I cut a piece of white cardstock slightly smaller than the card base and diagonally placed assorted red washi tape strips across it, leaving a space between each strip. Next I stamped "happy birthday" between the strips, some right side up and some upside down.

I adhered the taped cardstock to the card base and wrapped Charcoal twine around the bottom.  And the card was done!  Fast!!!  Easy!!!  Fun!!!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Over Under Easy
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Target Washi Tape; Darice Washi Tape; Twine
  • Card Size: 4.25" x 5.5"
