Love Of Layers (MIM #305)...

Another week and another challenge! And it's the end of November!! 😳This week Laurie Schmidlin is the host and shows us how to use lots of layers on projects. You can watch her video here ↝ Make It Monday #305: Love Of Layers.

I decided to make a tag for this challenge and started by die-cutting Tag Sale: Quilted in a pattern paper, backed by white cardstock for a bit more support. I also die-cut the tag in Pure Poppy cardstock to use as a backer for the tag which has "to & from" stamped on it.

I cut a 3"x3" square of Pinefeather cardstock, backed it with fun foam and placed it inside the stitching on the tag. The stitched circle is die-cut in white cardstock, the sentiment stamped in Pure Poppy ink and placed on foam tape for additional dimension. The holly leaves are die-cut in white cardstock, stamped with Green Parakeet, New Leaf and Pure Poppy inks and backed with foam tape for even more dimension! It is fun making these multi-level dimensional projects! I added Pure Poppy twill ribbon for the tag tie.

I'm counting 6 layers on this tag: 1) the Pure Poppy back, 2) white cardstock backing the pattern paper, 3) pattern paper, 4) Pinefeather cardstock, 5) white cardstock, 6) holly leaves.😊

Happy Holidays...

Sometimes I get tired of using the same old Christmas traditional colors. How about something from the pink family?

On a piece of white cardstock with a stitched border, I stamped the tree in Versamark, sprinkled it with silver embossing powder and heat set it. I stamped the ornaments, star, exterior dots and sentiment in Hibiscus Burst ink. The tree stand is stamped in grey ink.

I placed the panel on a stitched/scalloped card base made with Hibiscus Burst cardstock.

  • Stamps:  PTI O'Tannenbaum, Keep It Simple: Happy Holidays
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select

Sending Christmas Joy & Cheer...

I wanted to make another snow globe card, this time using a night sky.

I started with a piece of white cardstock and die-cut the snow globe opening. In Dark Indigo cardstock, I die-cut the snow globe shape and stamped the snowflakes in Versamark ink. I sprinkled them with white embossing powder, heat set it and placed it into the white opening.

The snowman is die-cut in white cardstock with additions in True Black, Raspberry Fizz, Cocoa Bean and Orange Zest cardstock. Some of those dies are so tiny to cut! I placed the snowman, along with the trees on the night sky, adding a snowdrift with a glitter line in front. To make it look more like a snow globe, I added a strip of cherry wood paper along the bottom.

I stamped the sentiment in dark blue, adhered the panel to a Dark Indigo cardstock card base and tied pink sorbet twine around it. These snow globes are so much fun to make!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Snow Globe Kit; PTI Stylish Sentiments: Holiday; Altenew Snowing
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Dark Indigo, Raspberry Fizz, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Cocoa Bean, Orange Zest, True Black; MFT Cherry Wood

Papertrey November 2017 Blog Hop Challenge...

Just one month until Christmas...yikes!!! This month the blog hop inspiration photo focuses on Fall and the lovely colors and adornments that go along with it. It didn't take long for me to come up with an idea for my card (yea!).

I pulled out Color Pop Autumn for this card - I'm so happy I'm getting a lot of use out of this kit! On Fresh Snow Linen paper, I stamped the leaves, berries and acorns in a variety of Fall like colors, just like in the picture. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base and added a strip of Orange Zest stripes down the side.

The sentiment is stamped on a stitched rectangle in Cocoa Bean ink and is on fun foam for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Color Pop: Autumn, Autumn Hills
  • Paper:  PTI Fresh Snow Linen, White Stampers Select, Orange Zest Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Scarlet Jewel, Spring Moss, Ripe Avocado, Summer Sunrise, Fine Linen, Cocoa Bean; Memento Morocco

It's The Most Wonderful Time...

I hope it won't be long and there will be snowflakes falling outside my window. I'm hoping we get a little bit of snow this year after not having much last year.

This card uses MFT's Snowflake Splendor kit. I started with a panel of white cardstock, die-cut with a stitched rectangle and stamped the sentiment in black ink.

The snowflakes were die-cut in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores cardstock and layered on top of each other, with a sequin added to the middle of each one. The panel is on a white cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI What The Doodle: Snowflakes
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Joy...

How about a tag for a change?

I used the tag from the Holiday Tag Along kit and die-cut it in white cardstock. I also cut the tag in Aqua Mist cardstock to use as a separate backer but unfortunately didn't take the picture showing it.  With the stencils in the kit, I stenciled the snowflake background in Aqua Mist and Hawaiian Shores inks.

Joy is die-cut twice in white cardstock and once in silver foil paper and stacked together. I added a few silver snowflakes and silver tinsel fun fur for the tie.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Holiday Tag Along
  • Paper:  PTI White Stamper's Select, Aqua Mist; Silver Foil
  • Ink:  PTI Aqua Mist, Hawaiian Shores
  • Dies:  PTI Holiday Tag Along; MFT Joy

You're On The Nice List...

I'm going through a phase where I like making things with "cutesy" type stamps and MFT has so many to choose from!

I stamped Santa and the reindeer in black ink on white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. I added the little shadow underneath them in Soft Stone ink and the sentiment in black ink.

I added glitter to Santa's beard and a pompom to his hat. The panel is adhered to a white cardstock card base covered with polka dot pattern paper.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Jingle All The Way; PTI In The Shadows
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; DCWV

Peace...

And another simple card today.

I die-cut the word Peace in white cardstock and again in Blueberry Sky cardstock. I stamped the snowflakes on the panel in Versamark ink, sprinkled them with silver pearlescent embossing powder and melted it with a heat tool.

The panel is on a Blueberry Sky cardstock card base with Peace inlaid in the white cardstock. A little silver tinsel around the spine completed this card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Snowflake Splendor
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Versamark
  • Dies:  MFT Peace

Holly Jolly...

I was listening to the radio and heard "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" and it made me think of the Mistletoe & Holly stamp set.

On white cardstock, I stamped the holly in New Leaf ink and the berries in Pure Poppy ink. The sentiment is stamped in black ink using MFT's Hand Lettered Holiday stamps - I love the font in this set!

The card looked okay and then I decided it need something extra so I added a strip of coordinating pattern paper down the side. Now I like it much better!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mistletoe & Holly; MFT Hand Lettered Holiday
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Christmas Prints

Papertrey November 2017 Create Along With Us...

I was happy to see more snowflakes this month! I have a "thing" for snowmen and snowflakes and can't resist buying them!😎 I was inspired by this card that Michelle Leone made - I liked how her large snowflake was the center of attention with the plaid background.

For my card I started with a white cardstock card base with a layer of plaid pattern paper, both die-cut with the stitched dies in the A2 Noted Vertical set. Next I die-cut the stitched snowflake three times in white cardstock and glued them together.

The stitched banner is die-cut in Spring Rain cardstock and the sentiment stamped in Kraft ink. I added a clear snowflake embellishment to the center of the snowflake. Lots of stitching on this card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Christmas Critters Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI White STampers Select, Spring Rain; DCWV
  • Ink:  PTI Kraft
  • Dies:  PTI A2 Noted: Scalloped Vertical, Stitched Snowflake; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Sentiment Flag

Dashing By With A Holiday Hi...

I think this is my favorite set (for now!) from MFT - it's just filled with cuteness! Who can resist the reindeer or that little rabbit? I wanted to try making snowdrifts with a stencil. My first couple attempts weren't so good and then all of the sudden I "got it"! 😊 Oh my gosh, it's so easy to use!

On white cardstock, I made the snow drifts using the stencil and Spring Rain ink. I rubbed on Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky inks to create the wintry sky. For the snow, I used a snow stencil and white embossing paste. I love the way the entire background turned out!

The animals are die-cut in white cardstock and colored with Copic markers. I added the white dots on the deer with a gel pen and placed each of them on foam tape for dimension. The sentiment is stamped in black ink on a piece of Spring Rain cardstock; I snipped the end on an angle for a different look and adhered it with fun foam. The panel is on a Dark Indigo cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Dashing Deer
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Dark Indigo, Spring Rain
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky; Versafine Onyx Black

Believe...

I copied the idea of stamping Believe directly on the deer from Stephanie Gold because I never would have thought to do that!

I started with a piece of white cardstock and stamped the bottom using Fair Isle Borders and Pure Poppy ink. The top of the card is embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.

The deer is die-cut in Kraft and Believe stamped in Cocoa Bean ink. I placed it on foam tape and added the gem for his nose.

The panel is on a Kraft cardstock card base and I added some red fun fur to finish things.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Dash Away All, Fair Isle Borders
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy, Cocoa Bean
  • Dies:  PTI Dash Away All

Oh Deer! Christmas Is Here Repeat...

I've been having a lot of fun making cards that need to be colored. I really don't use my Copic markers enough and it feels good to get them out again.

On white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment 7 times - 6 in Pure Poppy ink and once in Gingerbread ink. Using the MISTI made this so easy to do, I just moved the cardstock in one half inch increments and it came out perfectly lined up! I ran the panel through the Cuttlebug with a stitched rectangle die.

The reindeer is die-cut in white and colored with Copics and placed on foam tape for a little dimension. The stamped panel is on a layer of red snowflake paper on a white cardstock card base.

I liked doing this so much I made two other cards that I'll post at a later date.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Dashing Deer, Jingle All The Way
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Rustic Snowflakes
  • Ink:  PTI Pure Poppy; VersaMagic Gingerbread; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  E33, E57, R27

O Christmas Tree...

I wanted to make a quick card with non-traditional colors. Don't you get tired of seeing so much red and green during the holidays? I know I do.

On white cardstock I stamped the trees in Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores and Amethyst Allure inks. This was so easy to do with the MISTI!

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and scored two lines above and one below to add some texture to the card. This was really a fast card to make and is bright and cheery looking!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Background Basics: Evergreens, Tree Tops Glisten
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Hawaiian Shores, Amethyst Allure; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Scor-Pal; MISTI
  • Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Merry Christmas...

I really made a lot of Christmas cards so far and may be posting holiday items from now until the end of the year! lol

MFT has some of the cutest stamps, and this polar bear set is one of them. I started with a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base and added a layer of grey pattern paper. I wish I could get a whole pack of this grey paper!

I die-cut two snowdrifts in white cardstock and placed them on the card, adding the bear (on foam tape) and mountain, also die-cut in white cardstock and colored with Copics. I added the snowflakes with a clear sequin in the middle. The sentiment is stamped in Hawaiian Shores ink. Of course snow = fun fur and there it is!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Warmest Wishes, MFT Polar Bear Pals, Altenew Holiday Wishes
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select, Tinsel & Tags
  • Ink:  PTI Hawaiian Shores; Memento Tuxedo Black

Let It Snow!...

Ha, no snow in this area as our temps are above normal and could reach the 70s again this week. This is my favorite time of year but the weather has been a disappointment so far.

I just love this Snow Globe Kit from MFT and have been making quite a few cards and tags with it. For this one, I started with a piece of Kraft cardstock and die-cut the snow globe opening. I die-cut another snow globe in white cardstock, inked it with Spring Rain and Blueberry Sky inks to create a wintry sky and placed it into the Kraft opening. To create the snowy background, I used a stencil and pearlescent embossing paste over the entire front of the card. I also edged around the Kraft with white ink for more of a snowy look.

The snowman's body is die-cut in white cardstock, his arms in Dark Chocolate, hat in True Black and nose in Orange Zest. His eyes, mouth and buttons are stamped in black ink. I added the scarf and hat band in a piece of red pattern paper and placed him on foam tape for dimension. For the background, I die-cut the snow drift in white cardstock and the trees in Green Parakeet cardstock.

The snow globe base is die-cut three times in Pure Poppy cardstock and stacked together for dimension with the sentiment heat embossed in white ink. The panel is adhered to a white cardstock card base. To finish the card I added a glitter line to the snow drift, white markings on the trees and Watermelon twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Snow Globe Kit; PTI Made Of Snow
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select, Pure Poppy, Green Parakeet, True Black, Orange Zest, Dark Chocolate, Bitty Boxes

Blog Hop For Dawn McVey...

Dawn McVey recently had a small intestine transplant after many years of being sick with stomach issues.  Over the years I've read about her journey to get to this point, and I hope and pray this will bring an end to her suffering. What really amazes me about Dawn is how strong she's remained throughout all of this - she truly is an exceptional person!

Dawn has been on the PTI Design Team since the very beginning and has inspired me in more ways than I could write here. So I was thrilled to read about this special blog hop for a very special person. You can read more about the "We 💗 Dawn" Blog Hop here at Nichole Heady's Blog and how you can participate and/or help Dawn.

Dawn loves flowers and colors, so I knew my card had to be a little outside the box for me. I picked one of her sets, Friendly Flowers, die-cut the flowers and stamped them in Berry Sorbet, Hibiscus Burst and Hawaiian Shores inks. I was originally going to use Spring Moss for the flowers, but I thought, no, Dawn would go brighter lol, so I selected Green Parakeet ink. I stamped the flower centers and the sentiment (from Dawn's It's The Thought) in black ink.

The large and medium flowers are die-cut three times and stacked together for dimension. I used Dawn's To The Point Edgers on the bottom of the panel and added a layer of Tropical Teal Stripes pattern paper underneath. This isn't a color I'd normally pick, but again thought, WWDD (what would Dawn do😀) and selected a color that was different for me.

I decided to coordinate my envelope with the card and stamped some of the flowers on it. I even lined the envelope with the same Tropical Teal striped paper! It's really fun to make the envelope match the card and I plan to do it more often! Now I'm off to pop this card in the mail to Dawn and hoping for her speedy recovery!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Friendly Flowers, It's The Thought, Reasons To Smile
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Tropical Teal Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Hibiscus Burst, Hawaiian Shores, Green Parakeet; Memento Tuxedo Black; Versafine Onyx Black

I haven't been making too many birthday cards lately because I'm concentrating on Christmas projects. But I'm sneaking one in every now and then!

I placed a piece of striped pattern paper over a white cardstock card base. I die-cut Phrase Play #11 in white cardstock and in a variety of colors that I could use to fill in the background and words.

I stamped the sentiment in Pure Poppy ink on white cardstock and popped it up with fun foam. I placed the entire panel on fun foam and adhered it to the card base.

It's The Moose Wonderful Time Of The Year...

Isn't this moose just one of the cutest things you've ever seen?

I die-cut the tree and moose in white card stock, stamped them with black ink and colored them with Copic markers. On a panel of white card stock, I stamped the rug and colored it with a grey Copic. I placed the tree on the edge of the rug and the moose on foam tape for a little dimension.

The sentiment is stamped in black ink. The panel is on a white card stock card base with a layer of red striped pattern paper behind it. I thought the tree needed a little decorating and added some sequins to it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  MFT Merry Christmoose
  • Paper:  PTI White Stamper's Select, DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  100, BG15, BG49, E23, E25, E30, E33, R24, R29, Y13, YG93, YG97, W1, W3

Twine & Ribbon Wraps (MIM #302)...

Happy November!

I can't believe it's time for another MIM challenge! This week Stephanie Gold is the host for Make It Monday #302: Twine & Ribbon Wraps where she shows us how to use twine and ribbon in a little different way.

I placed a piece of Twig Wreath pattern paper on a white cardstock card base and set it aside. I used the same wreath as Stephanie and die-cut it three times in Dark Chocolate cardstock. I glued them together, slightly staggered, as I wanted it to look like a grapevine twig wreath. I wrapped Aqua Mist twill ribbon around about 3/4 of the wreath and secured it with glue dots to the back. Next, I tied 2 bows in jute twine and adhered the wreath to my card base.

The banner is die-cut in white cardstock and the sentiment stamped in Dark Chocolate ink. I placed the banner on fun foam for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Pumpkin Patch
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Dark Chocolate, Twig Wreath
  • Ink:  PTI Dark Chocolate
  • Dies: PTI Twig Wreath, Tag Sale: Quilted
  • Other:  PTI Aqua Mist Twill Ribbon; Fun Foam; Jute Twine
