Happy Halloween!

This is the last of the Halloween cards!  I used white for the card base, topped it with a layer of orange, cut the black paper and ran it through the Cuttlebug with a spiderweb embossing folder.  To highlight the embossing a little more, I used a white crayon and rubbed it over the web.  Next I sprayed it with glimmer mist to give it a shiny, glittery look.  I cut diecuts of purple, green and white, and edged around the white diecut with a little orange ink.  I stamped the spider and colored it with Copics, attaching it with a bit of twine for the "web".

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Treats: Halloween; Stampin' Up
  • Paper:  DCWV
  • Tools:  Cuttlebug Spiderweb Embossing Folder, Labels Four Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Circle Punch
  • Other:  Copics, Twine, Tuscan Sun Glimmer Mist, White Crayon

Pumpkins & More Pumpkins!

A few more quick cards I made.

Card #1:  I used orange cardstock for the card base.  The patterned paper is two sided; pumpkins on one side and stripes on the other.  I put the pumpkins at the top and stripes at the bottom, separating them with a strip of scalloped black, adding a bit of Stickles on each scallop.  I stamped the sentiment and added the orange and black ribbons.

Card #2:   Again, used orange cardstock for the card base, topping it with pumpkin pattern paper.  I added the sentiment, colored the pumpkin with Copics, and layered it on an orange pinking circle.  I added a white circle border at the bottom and the ribbon.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Studio G $1
  • Paper:  DCWV, Heidi Grace
  • Tools:  Scallop Edgeabilities, Pinking Circle Nestabilities, Standard Circle Nestabilities, Martha Stewart Scallop 3 Dot Border Punch

More Twine!!!!!!!

Okay, everyone knows how much I love using twine.  Well, my favorite twine supplier, The Twinery has new colors, and of course, I had to get them!  The new colors are Charcoal, Stone, Buttercream, Blossom, Denim and Honeydew.  I'm splitting this with 3 other crafters so we'll each get 60 yards of each color!!

This was a quick card to make that came out really cute. I used green or orange for the card base and topped it with the perfect paper - ghosts!  My friend (thanks Jill!) gave me the "boo" die cuts and I added Stickles to them for a little sparkle.  I added the ribbons and the card was done!

Christmas Trees

It's only 2 months until Christmas - yikes!  I have to admit, I'm a bit tired of Halloween and wanted to use a new Christmas set I bought.  I played around with the design of this card for a while, started with 1, 2 and 3 trees and finally settled on just using 2.  I used Pure Poppy cardstock for the base and topped it with polka dot pattern paper.  The three pieces of the trees were cut twice, once with coaster and once with pattern paper.  I stamped the tree trunk and assembled the tree, topping it with the star, adding Stickles to the tree and the star.  I used a nestability die to cut the sentiment and ran a ribbon through the holes.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Love Lives Here: Holiday, Stylish Sentiments: Holiday
  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy, Ripe Avocado; Heidi Grace
  • Tools:  PTI Love Lives Here Die; Standard Long Rectangles Nestabilities; Tag Trio Nestabilities; Corner Rounder

I like to make some sort of doodad on holidays and for Halloween I decided to make little treat bags.  I bought 6" bags (orange, black, green) at Michaels and wrapped patterned paper around them.  I made the tags, layering the with orange or black paper, attached them with brads to the bag flap and added ribbon at the top.  The bags are filled with assorted chocolates, Smarties and Tootsie Rolls.

Love Birds

Today's is my goddaughter's first wedding anniversary - I can't believe a year has gone by already!  I must be in a pink and chocolate mood, two days in a row posting these colors!  I used white for the card base and layered it with Sweet Blush, Vintage Cream and a piece of pattern paper from Chocolate Remix.  I made two Mat Stack 4 diecuts, one in Vintage Cream and one in Sweet Blush, cutting a scalloped circle in the top layer.  I stamped the Love Birds sentiment and birdcage in gingerbread ink, adding the birds in Sweet Blush ink.  I mounted the top Mat Stack layer on foam squares to give it a little height and did the same with the birdcage.  Of course it "still needed" something so I added the chocolate pearls and pink/brown cording.  Happy 1st Anniversary Jackie & Dan!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Love Birds
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, Vintage Cream, Chocolate Remix
  • Tools:  PTI Mat Stack 4, Love Birds Collection Die; Scalloped Circle Nestabilities

Big Birthday Wishes

Another person is joining the over the hill club...but isn't 50 the new 30?  I used Sweet Blush for the card base and topped it with a layer of Dark Chocolate and Happy Spots pattern paper.  I stamped the flowers onto white card stock and colored it with Copics.  I used Postage Stamps nestabilities to create a frame around the image, edging it lightly with tea bag distress ink.

I cut the 50 in Dark Chocolate.  The sentiment is stamped on a tea label die cut in brown ink;  I added pearls on each side.  My final steps: add the pink ribbon and stick pin (which I put pearls, crystal and metal balls onto and stuck it through the ribbon) and some glitter on the flowers.  Happy 50th Birthday Mary!!!!!!!

Mitzi The Mummy

Isn't this stamp cute?  I knew I "needed" this stamp as soon as I saw it.  I made two different colors for this card - green and purple.  I used white for the card base and topped it with purple/green cardstock, a coordinating patterned paper, and then rounded the corners.  I stamped Mitzi on white cardstock, edged it with distress ink and matted it on another layer of purple/green.  I colored Mitzi and her Halloween bag with Copics and stamped the sentiment.  I tied embroidery thread around the image and added some Stickles to her hair.

Card Details:

Take Care

I'm using PTI's Harvest Berries stamp set again, I just can't seem to stop using it!  At least I'm getting my money's worth!  For this card I created my own patterned paper by stamping the gingko leaves and berries onto white cardstock and then added the flowers.  I rounded the corners and adhered it to a piece of Hawaiian Shores paper on top of a white card base.  I added a strip of Summer Sunrise, stamped the sentiment and added two metal embellishments.  I sprinkled the flowers with a bit of glitter too!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Harvest Berries, Autumn Abundance, Flower Fusion #6
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, Summer Sunrise

House Of Haunts

I borrowed this stamp set from my PTI pal, she has lots of Stampin' Up stamps!  I used white for the card base and added a layer of black and orange.  Next I stamped the house and tree onto white paper, sprinkled it with embossing powder and embossed it with my heat gun.  I added the bats around the rooftop and the fence in front of the house.  I wanted the sky to look "creepy and stormy" and used chalk to create that effect.  I used blues, purples, reds and black for the sky, and oranges and yellows for the moon (naturally the picture doesn't show the colors as well as in person).  Who knew chalk would make such a great sky!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Stampin' Up House of Haunts, Studio G $1
  • Paper:  PTI Stamper's Select White
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Scary Fence Edge Punch, Heat Gun
  • Other:  Pebbles Chalk

Have A Wonderful Day!

I'm not a big fan of sunflowers, but I really liked this sunflower set from PTI, especially at $5!  I used white for the card base and topped it with a piece of Summer Sunrise.  For the sunflowers, I stamped them first in sunflower yellow ink, which was a little too bright...so I stamped over them again in cantaloupe ink, which gave it a nice two tone effect.  I edged around the image with green ink and distressed them with a paper distresser.  I wanted a little shimmer so I sprayed the entire image with pearl glimmer mist.  Last steps were adding the sentiment, twine and my favorite bee!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Simple Sunflower, Flower Fusion #1, Turning A New Leaf
  • Paper:  PTI Summer Sunrise
  • Tools:  Stampin' Up Oval Punch, Tim Holtz Paper Distresser
  • Other:  Pearl Glimmer Mist, Twine, Jolee's Sticker

Halloween Spider

It won't be long and Halloween will be here!!  I made a variety of cards and decided to start posting some of them now instead of waiting until "Halloween week".  I'm not sure what this type of card is called, I think it's some sort of "step" card.  I used black for the card base, cut it so it would open in "steps" and added pieces of patterned paper to each section.  I stamped the spider and colored it with Copics, placed it on a purple, scalloped circle that I edged with black, and mounted it on 3D foam squares.  For the final touch I added some purple and white twine.

Here's the front view:

And the side view:

  • Paper:  Colorbok, DCWV

I liked the onesie card I made for Sunday's baby shower so much that I made 8 more of them (2 each in blue, pink, yellow and green)!  I made the blue and pink specifically for a boy or girl; the yellow and green (posted on Sunday) are good to have on hand when you don't know the sex.

  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; PTI Tiny Tag Die, Sweet Baby Die

Basketball Birthday

I made this card a while ago - of course it's for someone who loves basketball!  I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of basketball pattern paper that I found in Joann's.  All of the stickers are Jolee's.  The young man's favorite color is green, so I added the sentiment backed with green paper, the green photo corners, as well as the "19" (it's his 19th birthday) tag and green twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Thing Big Favorites #7
  • Paper:  Joanns Open Stock
  • Tools:  Martha Stewart Photo Corners Punch
  • Other:  Jolee's Stickers, Twine
  • Card Size:  5" x 7"

Baby Shower

Today is my goddaughter's baby shower and I wanted to make her a special card.  She doesn't know the sex of the baby so I used green and yellow to be neutral.  I cut the onesie shape with a pattern I made, including cutting holes for the neck and legs.  I put score lines on the sleeves, the middle of the outfit and above the snaps.

I've been dying to use my new PTI Sweet Baby die set and decided to use the giraffe from the set.  Isn't he cute??  I cut him out twice, one with yellow paper, and once with coaster to give him some stability.  Next I tied a ribbon around his neck and added the "baby" tag (which I edged in a light green) with twine.  A onesie has snaps....so I used metal adhesives for them.  The card still looked a little plain to me so I added the scalloped edges around the neck and leg holes.  Cute! Cute! Cute!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tiny Tags
  • Paper:  DCWV Nana's Kids
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; PTI Sweet Baby Die, Tiny Tags Die
  • Other:  Metal Adhesive Dots, Twine, Ribbon, PTI Coaster

Painting Pals

Last week at craft group we painted t-shirts; the image was on the t-shirt in black and white. These shirts were a gift from one of the ladies in the group (thanks again Kelli!) and was a fun group project to do.  My craft group mainly paints, but once in a while they'll make cards with me, so to be fair, I should paint with them once in a while (on an easy project of course!  lol).  I was a little hesitant to paint on fabric, but it was easier than I thought and I was very pleased with the way my t-shirt turned out!  I used mostly glitter type paints on it because I wanted sparkle and more sparkle!! I also added some pearl pen dots on the bottom of the skirts. Love my new t-shirt!

Thank You

I just noticed I don't have many thank you cards in my inventory so it's time to restock!  This card is a little out of my comfort zone; I'm not sure why I feel that way, maybe it's the color combination?  After I finished it, I was very happy with the way it turned out.

I used white for the card base and topped it with a piece of linen type paper from DCWV.  I cut the flowered paper and backed it with a piece of Spring Moss and tied a ribbon around it.  I stamped the sentiment on a Fillable Frames #1 die cut, added two yellow adhesive pearls and placed it on 3D foam squares for dimension.  The card was a little too yellow for me so I inked around the edges with a bit of green, which softened the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Fillable Frames #1, Communique Curves
  • Paper:  DCWV, Stampin' Up
  • Tools:  PTI Fillable Frames #1 Die, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Offray Ribbon, Kaisercraft Adhesive Pearls, 3D Foam Squares
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Birthday Triangles

I'm starting to run really behind using my new stamp sets...so much to do, so little time!  I made this card a few weeks ago using PTI's new Tranquility Trilogy set.  It's a fun set with a lot of interesting designs.  For this card I used white for the card base and topped it with a layer of black, a pink, bubbly pattern paper and another layer of deep pink.  I stamped the images, cut the triangles and added a clear jewel in the middle of them.  The middle triangle is on a 3D foam square so it's higher than the other two.  The last thing added was the birthday sentiment.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Tranquility Trilogy, Peaceful Garden
  • Paper:  DCWV
  • Tools:  Tag Trios Nestabilities
  • Other:  3D Foam Squares, Adhesive Jewels
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

With Sympathy

This is another card using PTI's Peaceful Garden - a favorite set of mine!  I used Kraft for the card base and topped it with a strip of tea leaves pattern paper, cut with a scalloped nestability.  I stamped the bamboo stems on Vintage Cream in green and brown inks, adding the butterfly in rhubarb.  The sentiment is stamped on Avocado and cut with a banner die with two black brads as an embellishment.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Peaceful Garden
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Avocado, Green Tea Leaves
  • Tools:  PTI Double Banner Die, Long Rectangles Nestabilities, Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Brads

I'm Here If You Need Me!

Today is World Card Making Day so I wanted to make a quick card to post.  I thought this card could be used anytime someone was in need of a friend.  I used white for the card base and topped it with a light blue pattern paper.  The white was made using a scalloped rectangle nestability and stamped with the flower stem and sentiment.  I cut the flower with felt and added a jewel center.  The white is mounted on foamies and I added the twine and my favorite bee!  Enjoy WCMD!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Flower Fusion #7
  • Paper:  Stampin' Up
  • Tools:  Scalloped Rectangle Nestabilities, PTI Flower Fusion #7 Die
  • Other:  PTI Harvest Gold Felt, Twine, Butterfly Sticker, Adhesive Jewel
