Congratulations On Your New Home

Sometimes I get in the mood to color, and when I do I bring out my Copics. Coloring helps relax me when I get stressed. This house is so much fun to color.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of red pinstriped pattern paper, rounding the bottom corners.  The house is stamped on white cardstock and colored with Copics. When it was completed, I fussy cut it and adhered it to the card on thin foam tape.

Using some of my leftover red strips from Christmas, I stamped the sentiments in black ink and placed them above and below the house.  To complete the card, I added Cappuccino twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Boards & Beams, Congratulations, Congrats All Ways
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select, Pure Poppy; Amuse Petite Stripes

Thinking Of You (MIM #210 - Using Vellum)

I can't believe I did two Make It Mondays this month! This is Make It Monday #210 - Using Vellum To Soften Patterns. I've been in the mood recently to use vellum and to heat emboss so good timing for this challenge.

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of Raspberry Fizz leaves pattern paper. I cut a piece of 3-3/4" x 5.5" vellum and placed it all the way to the right, softening the pattern paper but also leaving a hint of it exposed. The vellum is adhered with vellum adhesive.

Using my Bitty Bouquets dies, I die-cut two of the flowers, stamping the flowers with Rosebud ink and the leaves with Spring Moss ink, adding black ink to the centers. The banner is cut with a Sketched Shapes die, stamped and heat embossed with gold Zing powder.

I placed the banner on the card and the two bouquets on top, adhering one with foam tape and slightly angling it over the banner. For embellishment, I added a Jolee's bee - I haven't used one of these for a long time!  lol

ETA -- I don't really like to brag but I'm going to do it anyway! lol Today (5/1/15) I received the monthly PTI Newsletter email. I'm reading it and get to the Make It Monday Highlights section and think, hmm, that card looks like mine.  Wait a minute....it is mine!!!!!! OMG!! I couldn't believe it and squealed in delight! I've been walking on cloud 9 all day. Thanks Papertrey!

Anniversary Wishes

I was in the mood to use Spring colors for this card and chose two shades of green.

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of Spring Moss stripes, rounding just the upper right hand corner.  Next, using Journal Card #7, I die-cut one in Simply Chartreuse cardstock and one in white. I stamped the sentiment in black on the white, adding a strip of Simply Chartreuse in the middle stamped with anniversary wishes. The banner is on foam tape.

Celebrate is die-cut in Spring Moss three times, (of course!), glued and stacked together for dimension. I added a bit of glue on top and dipped it into glitter. I placed both Journal Cards on the card on an angle.  I die-cut the bottle in Spring Moss cardstock, stamped the middle in black and added a little strip of stripes at the bottom. I placed it on foam tape, adding a die-cut cork at the top.

To finish the card I tied white, sheer ribbon around the spine and added clear sequins. I'm really happy with the way this one turned out!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Uncorked
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss, Spring Moss Stripes, Simply Chartreuse, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Uncorked, Uncorked Words, Journal Card #7

April Birthdays Are The Best

Well, it's almost the end of April - the month sure seems like it went by fast!

I used a stencil to make the stars on white cardstock, using Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores and Cantaloupe inks. April is die-cut in Hawaiian Shores cardstock three times, stacked and glued together for dimension. I stamped the sentiment in black ink.

The panel is adhered to a Tropical Teal cardstock card base. I don't know why I don't use this color more often because it's really very pretty!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: April
  • Paper:  PTI Tropical Teal, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Tropical Teal, Hawaiian Shores; Memento Cantaloupe, Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Monthly Moments: April

Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

It's been a while since I entered the Blog Hop, but the colors in this picture are so pretty I wanted to see how I could use them on a card.  The challenge is to use navy and shades of pink together.

I started with a white cardstock card base and used my Cover Plate: Horizontal Stripes die-cut in Enchanted Evening. Next, I die-cut a bunch of flowers in different sizes from Mum's The Word. I stamped some of the flowers in Berry Sorbet ink and some in Sweet Blush ink. The leaves are stamped in Spring Moss ink.

I arranged the flowers on the card, placing a few on foam tape for dimension. I also used coarse glitter on them for a bit of sparkle.

The sentiment is stamped in Enchanted Evening ink on a Keep It Simple Frame die-cut in Berry Sorbet and white cardstock. I placed it on foam tape for added dimension. To finish the card, I tied Blossom twine below the flowers.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mum's The Word, Healing Touch Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Enchanted Evening, White Stampers Select, Berry Sorbet
  • Ink:  PTI Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, Enchanted Evening, Spring Moss
  • Dies:  PTI Mum's The Word, Keep It Simple Frames; Cover Plate: Horizontal Stripes

Celebrate Your Birthday

I'm trying to use some of my "older" pattern paper buy layering it on cards instead of stamping. It does make a fast card doing it this way.

I layered the pattern paper on top of a Hawaiian Shores cardstock card base. The diagonal is cut in white cardstock. And yes, celebrate is cut three times and glued together. lol This time I didn't pop out the openings in the letters for a different look.

I added "your birthday" in Smokey Shadow ink and the card was done! Very fast!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Phrase Play #4
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select, Green Boutique
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow
  • Dies:  PTI Wet Paint III; Lil Inker Designs On The Diagonal
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Cheers

This is another set I need to use more often because it can be used for many different occasions, like this card for an anniversary.

I folded a piece of white cardstock and used Card Edgers along the bottom to give it a shape. Next, I stamped the wine glasses in Sweet Blush and Scarlet Jewel inks. The bottle is die-cut and stamped with Scarlet Jewel and Galaxy Gold inks. The bottle is adhered on foam tape with a real cork top!

Cheers is die-cut in Scarlet Jewel cardstock, 3 times, glued and stacked together. Can you tell I use this method most of the time now? It really gives just the right amount of added dimension. I stamped the sentiment in the upper right corner in Smokey Shadow ink.

I wanted the bottle and glasses to appear like they were sitting on a table and added a strip of 1/8" Scor-Tape under them, dusting it with glitter.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Uncorked
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Scarlet Jewel
  • Ink:  PTI Scarlet Jewel, Sweet Blush, Smokey Shadow; Brilliance Galaxy Gold
  • Dies:  PTI Uncorked, Uncorked Words; Card Edgers #1
  • Other:  Scor-Tape; Glitter; Cork; Foam Tape

Welcome Little One (MIM #209 - White On White)

This card idea came from PTI's Make It Monday #209 - White On White Die Cuts With A Pop of Color. That's a long title! lol This week is hosted by Lexi Daly who makes a lot of clean and simple cards.

For this challenge, I decided to make a baby card and pulled out the onesie die from Bitty Baby Blessings and die-cut it in white cardstock four times. I also die-cut one in Spring Rain bitty dots pattern paper for my "pop" of color.

The die-cuts are placed on a white cardstock panel.  For a little dimension, I die-cut a onesie in coaster and placed the blue onesie on top. I stamped the sentiment in black ink and adhered the panel to a Spring Rain cardstock card base. To finish the card, I added white sheer ribbon around the card spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Baby Blessings
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, White Stampers Select, 2008 Bitty Dots Basics
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Bitty Baby Blessings

Happy Birthday

This is a quick card using my favorites butterflies.

I used two dies to make the butterflies - the base cut in Plum Pudding cardstock topped with the intricate one cut in Plum Pudding Bitty Dots. I added black centers to them.

On white cardstock I stamped the lines in Sweet Plum ink and added a piece of washi tape underneath it. The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

I placed the butterflies on angles, pulling up their wings for a bit of dimension and rounded the bottom corners of the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Keep It Simple: Birthday; Stampin' Up Gorgeous Grunge
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Plum Pudding, 2008 Bitty Dots Basics, True Black
  • Ink:  Memento Sweet Plum, Tuxedo Black

Happy 70th Birthday

I made this card back in February for a relative. I've made cards similar like this in the past for a specific age birthday.

I die-cut the frame in Sweet Blush Polka dot and backed it with a light yellow color. The numbers are die-cut in Aqua Mist cardstock, backed with white. The sentiments are stamped in black ink and placed on die-cuts from Hawaiian Shores cardstock.

The three balloons are die-cut in white cardstock and stamped with Lemon Tart, Hibiscus Burst and Hawaiian Shores ink with added coordinating twine (Blossom, Buttercream, Caribbean) to each. The confetti streamers are die-cut in Sweet Blush, Hibiscus Burst and Aqua Mist.

The panel is adhered to a Sweet Blush cardstock card base. To finish the card, I added a clear sequins in two different sizes.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Big Birthday Wishes, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Birthday Style
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Sweet Blush, Hawaiian Shores, Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst,  Sweet Blush Polka Dot; DCWV

Which Way To Cake?

I'm so happy the watercolor trend is still around because I've been in the mood to watercolor again. It's been a while since I've done this technique.

I used two colors of Stampin' Up reinkers for this, placing the colors on a piece of acetate, spritzing it with water and flipping it over onto a piece of white cardstock. I rubbed the ink so it was spread over the cardstock to my liking.

The post is die-cut in black cardstock. I die-cut the signs and stamped them with coordinating colors, using Hawaiian Shores ink on the arrow to add something other than a pink or orange color. The post is on foam tape for dimension.

I stamped the sentiment in black ink and mounted the panel on a black cardstock card base. I don't normally use black for a card base, but this looked good together and helped bring out the black on the panel.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Retro Birthday, Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, Hawaiian Shores, Berry Sorbet; Stampin' Up Summer Sun Reinker, Pretty in Pink Reinker; Memento Tuxedo Black

Hope Your Birthday is Unforgettable

Elephants are very popular right now and when I saw these from WPlus9, well, I fell in love with these little guys. They are by far the nicest elephants stamps I've seen. I've made several cards using them so be prepared!

I die-cut and stamped the three different elephants and colored them with Copics. It's been a while since I did any coloring! On white cardstock, I stamped the balloon and placed the elephant on top to give the impression the balloon is behind him. Instead of coloring the balloon, I die-cut the balloon in Hawaiian Shores Stripes pattern paper.

The other two elephants are also on foam tape. I stamped the sentiment (what a great font!) in black ink in the bottom right corner. The hats are die-cut and colored with Copics and are filled in with glitter. My last thing was adding the stars around the elephants. So cute!!

Tinkled Pink

I'm trying to use some of my older stamps. I buy them, use them once or twice and then start using the "newer" stuff I get. I have to stop neglecting my other stamps!

On white cardstock, I stamped the first layer of the feather in Sweet Blush ink and the inner part in Berry Sorbet ink. I added a few dots and a heart around the feather in the same color inks. The panel is placed on a Sweet Blush cardstock card base with the bottom corners rounded.

Tickled Pink is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. Using a Building Blocks die-cut in Sweet Blush, I stamped the sentiment and placed it on foam tape. To finish the card, I tied sheer pink ribbon around the top and added a little glitter on the feather.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Feather Finery
  • Paper:  PTI Sweet Blush, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Sweet Blush, Berry Sorbet, Smokey Shadow

Happy April Birthday

I'm going to try to post my April cards in April this month!  lol

Isn't this banner card festive looking? I die-cut it in white cardstock and placed bright, colored banners at the top. April is die-cut three times in Hawaiian Shores cardstock, stacked and glued together for a little dimension. I stamped "happy" and "birthday" in black ink.

The card base is white cardstock with a layer of Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dots pattern paper. I added a strip of Lemon Stripes pattern paper at the top and bottom of the banner card and adhered it to the card at the bottom right. Since there was space at the top, I filled it in with white crochet twine, wrapped around the card 3 times.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: April
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Raspberry Fizz, Lemon Tart, Aqua Mist, Hibiscus Burst, Hawaiian Shores, Hawaiian Shores Bitty Dots, Lemon Tart Stripes
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Happy Birthday

Well the Journal Cards I bought from PTI have more than paid off since I use them so much!

I started with a white cardstock card base and added a layer of Summer Sunrise cardstock, impressed with stars. Next, I cut a rectangle in pattern paper the same size as the journal card and rounded the corners.

Journal Card #5 is die-cut in white. I die-cut "birthday" three times and stacked and glued them together. I placed it on the journal card on an angle and stamped happy above it in black ink.

To finished the card, I added the Memory Clip at the top, tied with crochet twine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: September
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Summer Sunrise, Terracotta Tile, Autumn Abundance
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Birthday Trio, Journal Card #5, Memory Clips, Star Impression Plate

Sending Prayers

It's fun to make your own background for a card, and I always have good results when I use Lovely Layers.  And this is a color I don't normally use, but I like the way it turned out.

On white cardstock, I drew a light pencil line down the middle of the paper so I knew where to start stamping so the images would be centered.  I stamped the first layer Spring Moss ink and the centers in Simply Chartreuse ink.

I cut a strip of Simply Chartreuse cardstock and stamped the sentiment in black ink, adhering it with foam tape. The panel is placed on a Simply Chartreuse cardstock card base.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Lovely Layers, Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI Simply Chartreuse, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Simply Chartreuse, Spring Moss; Memento Tuxedo Black

Happy Easter

This is my favorite Easter card I made this year, simple and soft.

I die-cut the frame using Fabulous Frames and a piece of purple pattern paper. Before I adhered it to the white cardstock card base, I added a little strip of grass cut in Spring Moss stripes. Yes, another doodad scrap leftover!  haha

The bunny is die-cut in white cardstock - I edged around him with tea dye ink, tied a purple ribbon around his neck and positioned him right behind the grass.

I die-cut a stitched oval in Spring Moss cardstock, stamped the sentiment in black ink and placed it on foam tape. I rounded the corners to give it a softer look.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Take Three: Spring
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Spring Moss, Egg Hunt, Spring Moss Stripes
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Tim Holtz Tea Dye
  • Dies:  PTI Fabulous Frames; Impression Obsession Chocolate Bunny; Lil Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Ovals

Sending You Easter Wishes

When I first saw this stamp set, Lotus Blossom from Stampin' Up, I was kind of on the fence about it. But now that I've used it a couple times, I don't know how I would be without it! It's such a nice flower and fun to make since it's a 3-step stamp.

To practice with the stamp, I thought I'd make a purple flower for an Easter card. I used two colors of purple ink, Sweet Plum and Lulu Lavender for the flower, stamped on a white tag. The stem is stamped in Spring Moss ink and the sentiment in black ink.

The card base is Kraft cardstock, with a strip of Plum Pudding pattern on half of the card. Remember those Easter doodads I just posted about and I said I had lots of scraps left over? Here them come!  lol  The tag is adhered on foam tape and the bottom corners of the card rounded. Last step was adding Honeydew twine at the top.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mailbox Greetings; Stampin' Up Lotus Blossom
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select, Plum Pudding Bitty Dots
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Moss; Memento Lulu Lavender, Sweet Plum, Tuxedo Black
  • Dies:  PTI Tag Sale #5
  • Tools:  Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Twine

Easter Doodad

I wasn't sure what I was going to make this year and then saw a gable box Lizzie Jones posted on her blog and remembered I had this gable box die! I ordered a bunch of pastel pattern papers from PTI and went to work on these.

Each gable box is two of the same die cut and uses almost a full sheet of 8-1/2 x 11 paper (I have a lot of trimmings left over and you'll see them used on cards). I die-cut both pieces, cutting an oval window in one piece. The two pieces were put together with scor-tape; I placed acetate behind the oval window. I also added a piece of white cardstock on the inside bottom of the box for support (not sure it really needed it).

The tags were cut in coordinating solid cardstock using Fillable Frames #9 die. I die-cut the rabbits in white and added pink coloring to the ears and nose. The sentiment is stamped in black ink. The tags are tied onto the box with white crochet twine.

The boxes were lined with coordinating Easter grass and filled with assorted candy. I think these turned out adorable - they're a perfect size - not too small or too big!

Project Details:

Here Comes The Easter Bunny

I got the inspiration for this card from one that Melissa Phillips did when the Polka Dot Parade stamp set was first released.

The card base is Plum Pudding cardstock, topped with a layer of Happy Spots pattern paper. The tag is cut in white cardstock. I die-cut the rabbit three times in Plum Pudding cardstock, stacking and gluing them together for dimension and adhered with foam tape. I also die-cut the tail three times and adhered it with more foam tape.

Olivia's name is die-cut using Alphabet Soup in Spring Moss cardstock.  I cut a strip of Spring Moss stripes across the bottom of the card and placed a layer of white on top, stamped with the sentiment in Spring Moss ink. I don't normally use a coordinating ink, but this just looked better with the green ink rather than black. I added a few paper flowers and seam binding to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #1
  • Paper:  PTI Plum Pudding, Happy Spots, White Stampers Select, Spring Moss, Spring Moss Stripes
  • Ink:  PTI Spring Moss
  • Dies:  PTI Polka Dot Parade #1, Tag Sale #2; Memory Box Alphabet Soup
  • Other:  Seam Binding; Prisma Flowers; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

It's March....

No it's not.....April Fools!  haha

Yes, happy April! The calendar says April, but I'm posting another March card.

I created the background for this card using a chevron stencil. I started with a piece of Hawaiian Shores cardstock, placed the stencil on top of it and rubbed white ink on it with a dauber. I placed the panel on a white cardstock card base.

The sentiment is stamped in Smokey Shadow ink on a rectangle, cut big enough for the sentiment, with the corners rounded. Before attaching it to the card on foam tape, I placed some silver thread behind it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Birthday Classics: March
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select, Hawaiian Shores
  • Ink:  PTI Smokey Shadow; Color Box Frost White
  • Tools:  Memory Box Modern Chic Chevron Stencil; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Silver Thread; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
