Just A Little Something

It's hard to believe it's the end of the year - 2012 has gone by so quickly!  This is a card I made to go with a gift I gave someone.  These aren't colors I would normally think to use together - I saw a list of "different" Christmas colors to use on Nichole's blog and thought I'd give it a try.

I used Scarlet Jewel cardstock for the card base and added a layer of wine polka dot paper.  I diecut Tag Sale #7, cutting part of it in Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate and Vintage Cream cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment in brown and added gold Dew Drops underneath it.  I tied gold glitter tulle through the tag hole and added the scrolls in the opposite corners in Ripe Avocado.  The tag is on foam tape for dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Think Big Favorites #22
  • Paper:  PTI Scarlet Jewel, Sweet Blush, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream, Ripe Avocado; DCWV
  • Tools:  PTI Tag Sale #7; Cuttlebug Corners
  • Other:  Gold Glitter Tulle; Gold Dew Drops; Foam Tape

Christmas Doe

You know how you have someone who can't tell you what they need or want for Christmas?  And you don't want to buy just anything to give them a gift?  Well, that's my friends, who can't tell me what they want for Christmas, so I decided to give them money.  But, I didn't want to just give them a gift card or check and came up with this idea.  A jar of Christmas "Doe"!

I had a canning jar I decided to use as the container.  I rolled all the bills into tubes and tied each one with twine.  Yes, it took a while to do, but I think it looks so much better than just stuffing the bills into the jar.

For the jar itself, I covered the top of the lid with wine colored polka dot paper and added the wine tulle around the neck of the jar.  I wanted to use a gold, leaping deer on the front, and diecut two pinking circles in dark green and wine pattern paper.  The third circle is cut in Vintage Cream - I stamped "Christmas Doe" on it using my JustRite alphabet.....I thought "doe" was so clever!  The cream circle is on foam tape for dimension.

Here's a side view of the jar:

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  JustRite Alphabet
  • Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream; DCWV; Gold Mirror
  • Tools:  Pinking Circle Nestabilities; Memory Box Leaping Deer

Another Tag!

This is the tag I exchanged with my craft group - each year we all make tags to give each other.

I wanted to use a different tag than the one I used for the other holiday tags I made so pulled out Tag Sale #6, which I haven't used yet.  I used Vintage Cream cardstock on the back of the tag, green polka dot on the front, and sandwiched it with a piece of coaster for support.

I diecut the base of the ornament in Vintage Cream cardstock and added the snowflake layer on top, cut in gold wrapping paper.  I attached the bow top and placed the ornament on foam tape for dimension.

I die cut the banner in Vintage Cream, stamped "merry christmas" in Versamark and sprinkled it with gold embossing powder and used my heat gun to emboss it.

I added the pearls all over the ornament and banner with cream Pearl Pen.  I punched a hole in the bottom of the tag and threaded it with gold cording and gold bell and added the gold ribbon through the top.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Holiday Button Bits
  • Paper:  PTI Vintage Cream; DCWV
  • Tools:  PTI Tag Sale #6 Die, Fabulous Frames Die; Memory Box Classic Ornament, Snowflake Ornament, Bow Crisp; Heat Gun; Crop-A-Dile

Friends Are The True Gift Of The Season

I'm so happy I bought this Deer Trio die - it's so nice to use on holiday cards and I bet it'll look nice on a masculine birthday card too!

I used Blueberry Sky for the card base and added a layer of white cardstock and a layer of Spring Rain cardstock, placing it on foam tape for dimension.  I stamped snowflakes all over the "sky" and diecut the snowdrifts, stamping the sentiment right onto one of them.

I diecut the deer and the tree and adhered them to the card.  Next came the glitter - I outlined the snowdrifts, the tops of the deer and tree limbs.  I even added silver Stickles to each of the snowflakes!

The card was missing something so I tied the ribbon at the top and added the glitter bell (I sprayed it with adhesive and dipped it in glitter)!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Believe; Shape Up Snowman Accessories
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain, White Stampers Select
  • Tools:  PTI In The Meadow; Memory Box Deer Trio, Memory Box Twiggy Tree
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter; Stickles; Foam Tape; Ribbon; Bell; Spray Adhesive

Holiday Gift Tags - 9 & 10

This is the last of the gift tags for this year....and I'm already thinking up ideas for next year!

For this first tag, I used Pinefeather cardstock for the tag base and added a layer of polka dot green paper over it.  I stamped the snowman image on white cardstock, cut it out and colored it with Copics.

I diecut a scalloped circle in Kraft cardstock, placed the snowman on it with foam tape for dimension and stamped the sentiment.  I added the snowflakes to the snowman's body, the pompom to his hat and tied twine around the bottom of the tag.

And the final tag....I used Ripe Avocado for the tag base and layered it with pattern paper.  I stamped the sentiment on white cardstock and cut it out with an oval nestability, layering it on a Ripe Avocado scalloped oval.  I placed the star brad at the bottom of the sentiment.

The tag looked plain so I wrapped the gold cording around the bottom, threading it with a gold ball.  My last step was adding gold Stickles to the design in the pattern paper.

Holly Jolly Christmas

I saw this card when PTI released their Mistletoe & Holly stamp set - I'm pretty sure it was Danielle Flanders who came up with the design, but I loved it and wanted to make one similar.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Ripe Avocado, rounding the right hand corners.  I cut another piece of Spring Moss cardstock and stamped the holly leaves, stamping them twice - once fully inked and once again to create a shadowy look.  I stamped the berries in red ink and the sentiment in black ink.  I inked it a little bit around the edges with Fresh Snow ink.

I diecut the ornament in Pure Poppy cardstock and diecut the snowflake ornament in gold paper, placing it over the red and adhering it to the card on foam tape for dimension.  I added the bow on the top of the ornament with a small red gem in the center of it.

Using my glue pen, I drew lines on the holly leaves and sprinkled it with glitter.  I tied a bow on the spine to finish off the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mistletoe & Holly
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Pure Poppy
  • Tools:  Memory Box Classic Ornament, Snowflake Ornament, Bow Crisp Dies; Corner Rounder

Snowflakes Sparkle

This is the Christmas card I sent to family and friends.  I just love the way it turned out!

I used Blueberry Sky cardstock for the card base.  On white cardstock, I stamped the house and colored it with Copics.  I stamped the trees in brown ink, stamping some fully inked and some I stamped the ink off the image first to give it a lighter appearance.

I cut the snow drift using my In The Meadow die, stamped the sentiment and adhered it to the card.  I have a line of glitter along the edge of the snow drift.  The deer is from my Deer Trio die, he's the baby in the trio, popped up on foam tape for dimension.  I thought he was just so cute to add to the card!

My last step was adding all the snow on the card - I did this by tapping my glue pen all over the card and then dumping glitter on top of it and shaking off the excess.  Merry Christmas!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Winter Hills, In The Meadow
  • Paper:  PTI Blueberry Sky, White Stampers Select; Bazzill
  • Tools:  PTI In The Meadow Die; Memory Box Deer Trio Die
  • Other:  Copics; Martha Stewart Coarse Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Seasons Greetings Post Card

Another card for my parent's mail carrier.  I saw a style similar to this somewhere - unfortunately I don't remember where so I can't give proper credit for it.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of wine colored polka dot paper.  I created the post card by cutting a piece of Vintage Cream cardstock and inking around the edges in Antique Linen ink.  I drew the address lines and the line down the center of the card in a light grey marker.

I stamped the holly leaves on the post card and stamped "post card", the date stamp (showing Dec 25), "urgent" and "seasons greetings".  I diecut the postage stamp, stamping it with rhubarb ink with a green snowflake in the middle and stamped the "cancelled" mark over it.  I adhered the post card to a piece of Pinefeather cardstock and placed it on the card with foam tape.

I also diecut the notebook page and stamped "things to do" at the top along with a paper clip.  I made the lines on it using a stamp from Just The Ticket.

Final steps were tying the jute around the bottom with a red button, adding the snowflakes with a gem in the centers and a little glitter to the holly leaves.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Postmarks, Mistletoe & Holly, Take Note, Signature Christmas, Just The Ticket
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Vintage Cream, Pinefeather; DCWV
  • Tools:  PTI Spiral Notebook Die; EK Success Snowflake Punch; Postage Nestabilities
  • Other:  PTI Pure Poppy Button; Jute; Gems; Martha Stewart Glitter; Tim Holtz Antique Linen Ink; Foam Tape

Holiday Gift Tags - 7 & 8

The pine cones set is one of my favorites from PTI so naturally I wanted to make a tag with it.  I used Aqua Mist for the tag base and stamped diagonal stripes across it.  I diecut the pine cones and stamped them in brown and London fog inks.  They're placed on the tag on foam tape for dimension.

I stamped "peace & joy" at the bottom, added "carrara marble" coarse glitter to the pine cone tips and tied jute around the bottom, threaded with a wood button.

I wanted to use my music notes stamps and came up with this idea with the jingle bell.  I used Winter Wisteria for the tag base and stamped the music notes over it in Vintage Cream ink.

I diecut a postage nestability, stamped the bell on it and colored it with Copics.  I added a little glitter to the bell and stamped the sentiment on the side of the diecut.

Of course I had to add an actual bell and threaded it at the top with silver ribbon.

Ho Ho Ho!

Olivia is three now so knows who Santa is, so I wanted to make her a card with him on it.

I used Pure Poppy for the card base and added a layer of polka dot paper.  I stamped the Santa on white cardstock and colored it with Copics.  I diecut the Santa in a circle, and layered him on top of two sizes of pinking circles, placing the green circle on foam tape for dimension.

I added the pompom to his hat and glitter on his beard and hat.  The "ho ho ho" was cut in red using alphabet dies.  I made the sentiment on the computer and cut it out using a double ended banner.  I added the ribbon and the snowflakes on either side of the sentiment.

Mittens, Mittens, Mittens!

This is for a young girl who's twelve, an age where you can't do something too cutesy or too old.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of wintery pattern paper with mittens and sleds.  I created the sentiment on the computer and cut it into a rectangle.  I cut another rectangle of green cardstock and placed the white on top.  It was very white looking so I stamped it with snowflakes in Pearlescent Beige ink, adding a touch of gold Stickles to the middle.

I stamped the mittens on white cardstock, colored them with red Copics and cut them out with scissors.  I placed flock on the cuff of the mitten to add a little texture and a gem to the centers.  The mittens are adhered to the white cardstock with foam tape, as well as the green cardstock to the card.

I found a nice green ribbon that matched the pattern paper quite nicely and tied it around the card.

  • Stamps:  PTI Tremendous Treats: Christmas
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft; Debbie Mumm; DCWV
  • Other:  Copics; Gems; Ribbon; Flock; Foam Tape

Treat Containers

You know how I can't throw anything away anymore.  These were made from empty Crystal Light containers - they are really too nice not to reuse in some way!

I wrapped Christmas pattern paper around the canister, adding the belly band.  I die cut 3 circles - two in colors and one in white, and stamped the sentiment on the white circle.   I tied a ribbon around the top and added a snowflake to the sentiment.

I made a variety of styles for the Craft Fair.  I thought these would sell really well, but they didn't sell as well as I hoped.  Here's a sampling of what I made:

Baby's First Christmas

I needed to make a couple of boy cards for a first Christmas and didn't have a stamp for it so I did a Google search and found this stamp image on I Wanna Build A Memory.  Tracy made a card using this stamp and I just thought it was so cute!  It's a digital stamp, so I was able to buy the image and get it immediately.

I used Pure Poppy for the card base and added a layer of snowflake paper pattern, rounding the right hand corners.  I printed the image and colored it with Copics - I really liked the way Tracy colored her image so I pretty much did the same thing.  She added Glossy Accents to the ornament to make it shiny and yellow chalk around the baby's image.  I did the same things - it's not something I would have thought to do!

I cut the image in a circle and placed it on a scalloped circle, paper piercing the scallops.  I created the sentiment on the computer and added the ribbon and bells, tied with red twine.  I added a bit of pink chalk to his cheeks and glitter underneath the baby's bottom and feet.

  • Paper:  PTI Pure Poppy; DCWV

Holiday Gift Tags - 5 & 6

I just love this gingerbread man from Holiday Buttons Bits and thought he would look nice on a tag.  I used Pure Poppy for the tag base and added a layer of holly pattern paper.  I stamped the gingerbread man onto white and cut the image out with scissors.  I added Stickles on the arms and legs and buttons to the center.

I diecut the holly leaves and stamped them with "tis the season".  The gingerbread man was adhered to the tag on foam tape for dimension.  The bottom looked a bit empty so I added the red Loop de Loop edging.

The deer from In The Meadow was perfect for what I had in mind when creating this tag.  I used Spring Rain for the tag base and stamped it with snowflakes, adding a bit of Stickles to the centers.

I tore white cardstock to create the snow drifts and stamped the sentiment.  I diecut the deer twice, once with coaster for support and once with light brown cardstock, and adhered it to the tag on foam tape for dimension.  I added glitter along the edges of the snow and the top of the deer for additional sparkle.

Snowman Tags

These are gift tags I made using a large metal-like tag.  I made them in a variety of colors and embossed the tag using different embossing folders.

The snowman is made from PTI's Shape Up Snowman Accessories stamps and dies.  I added twine to the mittens to hold up the "merry" and stamped "Christmas" underneath it.  I added the holly leaf on the neck, with a few silver berries made with Pearl Pen, the pompom to the hat, and a few snowflakes.  The snowman is on foam tape for dimension.

These are perfect for a large gift or to even use as an ornament on the Christmas tree.

Merry Christmas (CAS #28)

I was looking at all of my washi tape and realized two colors closely matched some of my PTI cardstock and decided to make a washi tape Christmas card.

I used red and green washi tapes and placed them diagonally across a piece of white cardstock.  I stamped the sentiment in the lower bottom in black ink.  Next, I diecut an ornament in Pure Poppy cardstock, adding a gold star to the middle and tying a bow in gold cording on the top.

I placed the completed design on New Leaf cardstock and it was done!  Very easy!

  • Stamps:  PTI Signature Christmas

Under The Weather?

This is another set I got a couple months ago and haven't had a chance to use - I really can't wait until the holidays are over so I can get back on track!

I used white for the card base and added a layer of Spring Rain cardstock that I ran through the Cuttlebug using a Darice "clouds" embossing folder.  I stamped white ink over the blue clouds to soften up the blue and give them more of a "cloud" image.

I used my snow drift dies to cut the green hills behind the fence.  I die cut the clouds and stamped the sentiment, placing the larger cloud on foam tape for dimension.  I die cut the sun in Lemon Tart cardstock and stamped it with Mango Madness ink.

The fence is a die cut placed over top of the hills.  I found a pack of Jolee's flowers and thought they looked nice on the fence to complete the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #6
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Rain, Lemon Tart; Amuse Polka Dot
  • Tools:  PTI Heart-2-Heart #6 Die, In The Meadow Die Collection; Memory Box Picket Fence; Darice Clouds Embossing Folder

Holiday Gifts Tags - 3 & 4

I haven't used my stocking stamp set for a while and thought it would be nice to put it on a tag.  I used Ocean Tides for the tag base and added a layer of wine color pattern paper.

I die cut Fillable Frame #4 in Vintage Cream, edging around it in Antique Linen ink.  I stamped the stocking image onto it, adding gold Stickles to the stars on the stocking.  I added gold brads on the two center points and stamped the sentiment.  The stocking is adhered to the tag base on foam tape for dimension.

Isn't this penguin just the cutest little guy?  I used Enchanted Evening for the tag base and added the blue/white striped pattern paper.  I also added a strip of blue across the middle.  I die cut the penguin and stamped him with black, coloring his feet and nose with Copics.  I die cut his hat and stamped it in red and adhered the pompom.

I stamped the sentiment and placed the penguin on foam tape for dimension.  I punched out the snowflakes and adhered them to the tag, placing a gem in the center of each one.  My final touch was to add a little pink chalk to the penguin's cheeks.

Happy Hanukkah

Well, I really can't take credit for this card design - I saw it on Nichole's blog when she introduced the new Menorah Medley stamps/dies and I didn't want to change perfection.  Well, I changed it a little, but not much.

I used white cardstock for the card base, cutting a circle in the middle.  I die cut the Star of David in Enchanted Evening cardstock and adhered it to the circle with scor-tape.  I cut a strip of Blueberry Sky and layered it with Enchanted Evening, stamping Happy Hanukkah and heat embossing it with silver embossing powder.

It looked a little plain so I added the silver cording around the card and tied it in a bow.

Christmas Doodad

I saw these on Pinterest back in the summer and knew it was what I was going to make as my Christmas doodad.  I made a lot of them - sold some at the Craft Fair (not as many as I expected) and now friends and others are buying them.

These are made with 3 Peppermint Patties sandwiched between scalloped circles.  Each package has 6 scalloped circles cut in different colors and 3 white circles.  I stamped the white circles with the face, buttons and snowflakes - using different faces and buttons for variety.

It's all taped together and inserted into a clear pretzel bag.  I tied the top with a bit of ribbon and added a tag that says "let it snow".  I thought that sentiment would make them "non-denominational" and they would be good for any holiday and even all winter to give out.

Project Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Shape Up Snowman Accessories; Tag-Its #8, Framed Out #8, Winter Penguin
  • Paper:  Bazzill; DCWV
  • Tools:  Standard & Scalloped Circle Nestabilities; Martha Stewart Circle Punch; EK Success Scalloped Punch

60th Birthday

I'm not sure what to call this type of card so I'll name it a "3 panel" card.  A friend asked me to make this for her sister's 60th birthday and told me a few things about her - she likes music from the 70s, she's a teacher, loves the Pittsburgh Steelers and likes to drink.  (hehe)

Outside of card:  I used Aqua Mist cardstock for the card base, cutting 2 pieces of 5-1/2" x 11" and overlapping them to form the 3 panels.  I added a layer of Aqua Mist pattern paper to the front and inside panels.  I cut a circle in white and stamped it with the "happy" banner, coloring it with Copics and layering it on a lacey circle cut in Lemon Tart cardstock.

I die cut the "60" in Hibiscus Burst cardstock, placing the "6" on the white and the "0" on foam tape for dimension.  The "th" was die cut in Lemon Tart.  I cut a strip of Lemon Tart and stamped it with the sentiment, adding the buttons.

Inside of card:  I made the chalkboard from Kraft cardstock using two square nestabilities, cutting another piece to make the strip on the bottom to form the ledge.  I used black cardstock for the chalkboard and wrote "go Steelers" in a white gel pen.  I found an apple punch and made the apple, cutting out a few leaves in green cardstock to form the leaves - perfect!

I looked up music from the 70s and found some of the more popular songs and typed them up on the computer.  I cut it out and stamped music notes in pink over it, adhering it to Lemon Tart cardstock.  The martini was stamped on white and backed with Hibiscus Burst cardstock.

The birthday sentiment was typed up on the computer and adhered to the third panel of the card.  I wrapped Buttercream twine around the card to help keep it closed.

This was a hard card idea for me to come up with - but I have to admit for the front of the card I saw something similar on Nichole's blog, and that really helped me get started.  The card was a lot of work but I was very pleased with the finished product!

Happy Anniversary (CAS #27)

Another quick card to make.  I used white cardstock for the card base and added another layer of white cardstock embossed with the Cuttlebug.  I punched out the two butterflies in Aqua Mist with a Martha Stewart punch and adhered them to the card, placing two pearls in the middle.

I die cut the banner in white cardstock, stamped it with the sentiment and added pearls on either side.  The banner was adhered to the card base with foam tape for dimension.

Holiday Gift Tags - 1 & 2

I made a bunch of gift tags for the Craft Fair - 10 different in all so I'm going to post them 2 at a time over the next few weeks.  I used the Tag Sale #1 die for all of them so they would be more uniform.  All of the tags have "to and from" on the back of them for gift giving.

For the santa, I die cut the tag in Dark Chocolate cardstock and added a layer of multi-striped pattern paper, adding a Dark Chocolate circle on the top for reinforcement (the tag punches out this reinforcement).

I die cut a tag in white cardstock and edged around it in Antique Linen ink.  I stamped the santa image and colored it  with Copics, adding glitter to his beard, hat, and cuffs.  I placed a green brad through the hole in the top of the tag and glued a pompom to his hat.  The cardstock felt a little flimsy so I die cut another tag in coaster and adhered the white cardstock to it; it had much more support this way.

I stamped the sentiment and attached it to the tag base with foam tape for dimension and added the green ribbon.

For the snow bird I used Kraft cardstock for the tag base and added a layer of polka dot paper on top.  I stamped the bird image onto Kraft and colored it with Copics, cut it out in a circle, edging around the circle with white ink.

I die cut a lacey circle in Pure Poppy cardstock, adhered the bird to it and attached it to the tag on foam tape for dimension.  I stamped the sentiment and added glitter to the branch and the bird's tail.  I glued flock to the bird's hat to make it look fuzzy.  After adding the ribbon the tag looked like it needed something else so I added the snowflake punched from glitter paper.
