Make A Wish

Hard to believe it's the last day of August!  The good news is summer is very close to being over and cool, crisp weather is on the way!!

Mum's The Word is my new favorite set!  The flowers in it are so pretty and I like having long stems.  The flowers are easy to stamp or cut out (as I did in my Aug 24 post).

I used Terracotta Tile for the card base, a color I don't use often, but reminds me of Fall!  I used stitched rectangles on white cardstock and stamped the flowers in Morocco ink and then again in Cantaloupe ink.  The stems are stamped in a very pale green and the sentiment in black.

I layered the white on black cardstock - I think it helps bring out the sentiment.  My last steps were adding glitter to the flowers and the pearls under the sentiment.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mum's The Word
  • Paper:  PTI Terracotta Tile, True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Morocco, Cantaloupe, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Aloe Vera
  • Tools:  Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Glitter; Pearls
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Celebrate

There are so many cupcake stamps in this set it'll take me forever to use them all!

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of Raspberry Fizz that I impressed with stripes.  I die-cut scalloped ovals in Dark Chocolate and white cardstock, stamping the cupcake image and spoon on the white.  I colored the cupcake and ice cream with Copics and stamped the sentiment in black ink.

The image is placed on foam tape for dimension.  After looking at the ice cream I thought I should add glossy accents to it so the fudge looks shiny.  While the gloss was still wet, I sprinkled a little glitter on it!  In person it looks good enough to eat!  haha

I wrapped Ice Cream (pink, brown, white) twine around the bottom of the card, die-cut the tag and stamped "birthday wishes" on it.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  WPlus9 Sweets & Treats; PTI Make A Wish, Mixed Messages
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select, Dark Chocolate
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black

Thinking Of You Today & Always

This is a stamp set I don't use that often, I don't know why because it has some nice images.

I used Orange Zest cardstock for the card base.  I ran a piece of white cardstock through the Cuttlebug to emboss the outer edges.  The pitcher is stamped in turquoise, the stems in light green and the flowers in orange and cantaloupe.  I stamped the sentiment in orange instead of my usual black ink.  It does look nice to see a card without black ink!

The flowers are sprinkled with glitter and I added a few butterflies in blues and orange.  I wasn't going to put three butterflies on the card, but noticed a little mark on the paper....the butterfly covers it up!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Iconic Images
  • Paper:  PTI Orange Zest, White Stampers Select, Spring Rain, Aqua Mist, Summer Sunrise
  • Ink:  VersaMagic Turquoise Gem; Memento New Sprout, Cantaloupe, Tangelo
  • Tools:  Stampin' Up Tulips Embossing Folder; Martha Stewart Butterfly Border Punch
  • Other:  Martha Stewart Fine Glitter
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Heard It's Your Special Day

Isn't this a cute card for a little girl?  I made this for my friend's daughter for her 13th birthday - I hope it's not too young for her.

I used Hawaiian Shores for the card base.  Using my rectangle stitched mats, I ran a piece of white cardstock through the Cuttlebug to create the stitched look around the edges.  I just love this look!  I stamped Madelyn and colored her with Copics.  I stamped her hat, colored and cut it (I sound like a hairdresser!) and placed it on foam tape for a little dimension.  I stamped the sentiment in black ink and added a small gem to her hair bow.

I wanted to highlight she's turning 13 and die-cut the numbers on the card.  The sequins match this cardstock almost perfectly and add the bling every girl likes!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Madelyn
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  E50, E35, W1, BG23, R81, R85, RV19
  • Tools:  PTI Block Numbers, Block Alphabet Lower; Lil' Inker Designs Stitched Mats: Rectangles
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Sequins; Gem
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

it's your birthday (CAS #32)

Time to make a simple card using a paint chip.  I really need to get to Lowe's or Home Depot to get more colors...haha

I used Winter Wisteria cardstock for the card base.  I trimmed the color code information off the paint chip and placed it on top of white cardstock, adhering it with foam tape to give it some dimension.

Using white, I die-cut three "birthday" words and placed them on the paint chip.  I stamped "it's your" above the middle birthday using Staz-on ink (regular ink smeared when I tested it).  I wanted to add some bling and used a gem to dot the "i" on each birthday.

And I wanted to use my new mini bow die from Lil' Inker Designs - it's so easy to cut this bow and put it together with this die!  I think the bow adds a nice touch to the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wonderful Words:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Winter Wisteria, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Staz-on Jet Black
  • Tools:  PTI Birthday Trio Die; Lil' Inker Designs Mini Bow Die
  • Other:  Paint Chip; Gems; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Sweet Sugar Coated Embellishments

This is my final post for Stamp-a-faire 2013!  What a weekend!  I learned a lot of new techniques and simple things I never thought of myself.  Like this one - glittering up words using scor-tape!  This is another idea posted by Danielle Flanders......she is so clever!

I used Raspberry Fizz for my card base, added Sweet Symphony pattern paper at the bottom and rounded the right hand corners of the card.  Next, I placed 5 strips of 1/8" scor-tape across white cardstock and die-cut the word "birthday".  I peeled off the tape and dumped lots of glitter on top!!  For such a simple thing to do, the result is amazing!  It's too hard to see how great this looks in pictures so you'll have to take my word for it!

I placed "birthday" on foam tape for dimension and adhered it to the card, just slightly above the music paper.  I stamped the additional sentiment on top in black ink.  The ribbon is tied around the spine, with the bow placed about 1/3 from the bottom instead of exactly in the middle.

Since this is a girly girl card, I thought "why not add a button drenched in glitter" too!  I sprayed a Raspberry Fizz button with adhesive and dumped glitter on top.  The button is attached with a couple of glue dots.

Here's a close up of birthday - you can see the glitter a little better (and also the foam tape behind it!).

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wonderful Words:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Sweet Symphony, White Stamper's Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Birthday Trio Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  PTI Raspberry Fizz Button; Scor-Tape; Martha Stewart Glitter; Foam Tape; Ribbon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey August 2013 Blog Hop

After participating in yesterday's Stamp-a-faire events I was a bit tired today and wasn't planning to enter anymore contests.  But then I saw the Blog Hop featured on Nichole's blog and figured why not!

The challenge is to pick one of 6 color combinations and 6 sketches.  I decided to go with this one - I liked the color combinations (since I'm still in my masculine card making mood) and thought the design was a bit different for me.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base.  I die-cut the stars in Dark Chocolate, Kraft and Fine Linen cardstock and placed them diagonally across Vintage Cream cardstock.  Next, in True Black cardstock, I die-cut a pinking circle and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  I die-cut another circle in Vintage Cream and stamped the sentiment in brown ink.

My last step was adding the jute diagonally across the card - thank goodness for scor-tape - it's holding it securely in place!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Fine Linen, True Black, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate
  • Tools:  PTI Limitless Layers: Circles, Super Stars Border Die
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Jute
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Limited Ingredients Challenge

This challenge was hard for me!  We were given a list of seven supplies we could use for our card:  white, aqua, melon, and yellow cardstock, a 1" strip of grey cardstock, 1-3/4" circle and glitter.  We were allowed to use neutral inks such as white, black or grey.  That's it!  Yikes!

I used white cardstock for the card base, layered it with Aqua Mist and added the strip of Soft Stone, backed by white cardstock.  I die-cut the circle in Aqua Mist, stamped it with the sentiment and adhered it to the grey strip.

Okay, this card was too plain for me......so I added the butterflies in Melon Berry cardstock.  The card is still too plain for me and after the challenge I'll be adding some more embellishments to it!  Lol

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Communique Curves Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Soft Stone, Melon Berry, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Limitless Layers:  Circles; Memory Box Dancing Butterflies
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Whipping Up Scent-sational Cards

This is probably the technique I was most looking forward to - how to make a "scratch & sniff" card!  When I started to do this I realized I didn't have any food type stamps, but after going through all my PTI stamps I found this cupcake from the 2008 Anniversary Set!  Naturally I made it chocolate!

I used Dark Chocolate cardstock for the card base and layered it with Sweet Blush cardstock that I embossed with a musical flourishes embossing folder.  I die-cut Tag Sale #3 in white cardstock and stamped the cupcake image.  I mixed my "scratch & sniff" by blending 1/4 teaspoon of unsweetened cocoa powder and 1/2 teaspoon clear embossing powder.  I re-stamped the cupcake top with Versamark, sprinkled it with my powdered mix and embossed it with my heat gun.  The cupcake top looks fuzzy now and I guess when you scratch it, it will smell like chocolate.  I didn't try to do that yet. haha

I die-cut "birthday" in Dark Chocolate and adhered it to the tag.  I stamped "it's your" above it in brown ink.  The top of the tag is threaded with Ice Cream twine and tied in a bow.  The tag is adhered to the card on foam tape for dimension.  Pink and brown are two of my favorite colors together!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Everyday Classics (2008 Anniversary Set), Wonderful Words:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Dark Chocolate, Sweet Blush, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  PTI Sweet Blush; Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate; Versamark; Memento Love Letter, Bamboo Leaves
  • Tools:  PTI Wonderful Words:  Birthday Die, Tag Sale #3 Die; Musical Flourishes Cuttlebug Embossing Folder; Heat Gun
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape; Unsweetened Cocoa Powder; Clear Embossing Powder
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Gallon:Quart:Pint

The idea behind Gallon:Quart:Pint is when using 3 different colors, one is the majority of your project, one a little less and one just a splash of color.

I picked out three colors I like to use together:  Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart and Raspberry Fizz.  I used Aqua Mist cardstock for the card base, running the top of the card through the Cuttlebug using my Stars Impression Plate.  I die-cut a Fabulous Frame in Lemon Tart and placed the sentiment behind it.

I die-cut the balloon and adhered it to the card with foam tape for dimension.  I used leftover stars (from other projects) on the balloon to make it look a little more festive.  For the balloon string I used Pink Sorbet twine, tying a bow at the bottom.  The card looked too plain so I added the row of Raspberry Fizz stars at the bottom of the frame.

For this card:   Gallon=Aqua Mist, Quart=Lemon Tart, Pint=Raspberry Fizz.  A very simple concept!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Aqua Mist, Lemon Tart, Raspberry Fizz, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Amuse Seattle
  • Tools:  PTI Fabulous Frames Die, Stars Impression Plate, Super Stars Border Die, Balloon Bash Die
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Sprinkle of Salt

Nichole showed us a video on how to use table salt or sea salt on cards.

For this technique you use an ink refill mixed with a bit of water and brush it over the paper.  After you have your design completed, you sprinkle sea salt on top, let it dry and brush it off.  I tried to do this using regular white cardstock but the water was drying too quickly so I switched to watercolor paper.

I made a quick design with my red ink and adhered it to True Black cardstock, rounding the right hand corners.  For the sentiment, I used Framed Out #8, cut in True Black and Vintage Cream papers.  I stamped "hello" and adhered the sentiment to the card with foam tape for dimension.

I have to say that this was not a favorite technique of mine.  I really can't see how the salt made that much of a difference - maybe I didn't do it correctly.  I'll have to take a look at the video and try it again some other time.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Communique Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, Vintage Cream; Watercolor
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; Stampin' Up Rose Red
  • Tools:  PTI Framed Out #8 Die; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Sea Salt
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Mixing Mists To Match

For this challenge we make a custom spray mist to match a color in our project.  I don't have many ink refills so I'm limited with the color I can make.  I decided to use a pink color that goes well with Hibiscus Burst cardstock.

I looked at a card Danielle Flanders made and knew I wanted to do her same technique.  I had several Quatrefoil Cover Plate frames cut from previous projects and used it like Danielle did - using the frame to create a background.  I mixed up my mist by using rubbing alcohol and pink ink refills and sprayed the mist over the die-cut frame.  It's hard to explain, but when you look at the background on the card, you'll see what I achieved.  I adhered the misted paper to Hibiscus Burst cardstock.

I stamped several mums in two shades of pink and fussy cut them.  I did the same for the leaves.  The leaves are actually stamped in grey ink...sometimes I get tired of always seeing green leaves and I think pink and grey are so pretty together!

The sentiment is stamped in grey onto a Fabulous Frames die-cut and adhered to the card on foam tape for dimension.  I wrapped plain white twine around the bottom of the card and added the flower centers with white Pearl Pen.  I will definitely use this technique again!

ETA -- I am THRILLED to say this card was featured in Nichole's 2013 Stamp-a-faire Memories Video.  I couldn't believe it when I was watching it that my card, yes MY CARD, appeared under the "Spray Mists" section!!!  If you want to see it "published", it's at 3:30 minutes on the video.  Thank you Nichole for including my card on the video!!!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Mum's The Word
  • Paper:  PTI Hibiscus Burst, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Angel Pink, Rose Bud; Amuse Seattle; Stampin' Up Pretty In Pink
  • Tools:  PTI Fabulous Frames Die, Quatrefoil Cover Plate
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape; Pearl Pen; Rubbing Alcohol
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Stamp-a-faire: Breakfast Bake & Take

This challenge gives us the opportunity to select one of 9 card sketches and a palette of 5 different color "recipes" to choose from to make your project.  I wanted to go with something that would work well for a masculine card since I seem to be making a lot of male cards recently!  I chose this color combination:

I used white cardstock for the card base and cut 1/2" strips of New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores and Enchanted Evening cardstock.  I placed it on the card leaving a little bit of space between the strips.  In Spring Rain cardstock, I die-cut the stars using the Super Stars border and placed it along side the strips.  I used some of the leftover punched out stars and placed them on the top of the 3 strips.

Using Limitless Layers: Circles, I die-cut a pinking circle in Limeade Ice and a regular circle in white.  I stamped the sentiment from 2012 Birthday Tags and added a line of stars in a coordinating Hawaiian Shores ink color.  I placed the circles on foam tape for a bit of dimension.

It took me a little bit of moving around the strips to get the colors where I liked them, but I'm really happy with how this turned out!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 2012 Birthday Tags
  • Paper:  PTI New Leaf, Hawaiian Shores, Enchanted Evening, Spring Rain, Limeade Ice, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem
  • Tools:  PTI Limitless Layers: Circles Dies, Super Stars Border Collection Die
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Papertrey Stamp-a-faire 2013

Here we go again.....a full day of stamping, learning new techniques and lots of fun!  It seems like this day rolled around so quickly from last year.  I'll be posting and entering some of the contests - not everything they're doing today is "my thing", but it's fun to play along and especially for a chance to win a PTI gift certificate!  I also have to place my order to get my free "Reasons To Smile" stamp set!  I'm ready for the challenges today!

The weather is perfect today, it's about 80 degrees with low humidity and a nice breeze.  Last year it felt like 100 degrees with the humidity!

it's a celebration

I continue to be amazed at how versatile the Watercolor Wonder stamp set is.  Here I'm using it as the background for cupcakes, a card inspired by one I saw on Pinterest by Caryn from A Passion For Papertrey.

I started with a white cardstock card base and stamp two different style paint strokes in red and blue inks.  I stamped the cupcakes, colored them with Copics and die-cut them into circles.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered the cupcakes with foam tape for dimension.  I sprinkled a little glitter on the cupcake tops to make it look like sugar on the icing.  Such a cheery looking card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  WPlus9 Sweets & Treats; PTI Watercolor Wonder, Birthday Bash Sentiments
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Turquoise Gem; Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy

Happy Birthday Feathers (CAS #31)

Another popular item right now is feathers!  Feathers, feathers everywhere!  I bought these stamps in July when I hosted an Amuse stamp "party".

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base, stamped the feathers and sentiment on Rustic White cardstock and ran it through the Cuttlebug to give it a woodgrain look.

I placed the white cardstock on top of  Dark Chocolate (it looks black, but it really is brown!) cardstock and rounded the corners.  Since this was definitely a male card, I added some "manly" jute to the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Amuse Make A Wish
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Beige
  • Tools:  PTI Woodgrain Impression Plate; Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Jute
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Textured Button Thanks

The look of texture on these buttons happened by accident.  I was trying to stamp onto burlap.  I inked up my stamp, stamped the burlap and could hardly see the ink on it.  But, I could see there was a lot of ink left on the stamp itself, and when I stamped the leftover ink onto a piece of paper, there it was, a textured looking button!  I was surprised at my discovery.....I'm sure this is how many "inventions" happen....planning for one thing and getting another.

To make the card, I continued to ink up my button stamps, stamp them onto the burlap and then stamp the excess ink onto white cardstock.  I added the button holes and sentiment in black ink.

I cut the corners with an inverted corner rounder and placed it on wine colored paper.  I added Marigold twine to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bits & Buttons, Mini Blooms
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select; Reflections
  • Ink:  Brilliance Pearlescent Poppy, Sunflower Yellow; VersaMagic Mango Madness; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Inverted Corner Rounder
  • Other:  Burlap; Twine

Wishing You A Very Happy Birthday

Some of the paper used on this card is from my friend Jill.  Today's her birthday and I wanted to let her know that I really like (and am using) the paper and made her this card with it.

I used Raspberry Fizz cardstock for the card base and added a layer of confetti pattern paper.  I die-cut the balloons in Spring Rain and Raspberry Fizz and adhered them to the card on foam tape.  I used Shore and Pink Sorbet twine for the balloon strings, tying them together with a bow.

I cut a strip of Spring Rain cardstock and cut the bottom with a scallop die.  I die-cut "birthday" in the same confetti paper and adhered it to the blue cardstock.  I stamped the additional sentiment above it in black ink and placed it on foam tape for dimension.

The balloons looked too plain, which led me to die-cut a few tiny stars to place on them.  I was much happier with the card just by applying those little stars!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Wonderful Words:  Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Spring Rain; Imaginisce
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Birthday Style Dies, Wonderful Words: Birthday Die, Super Stars Border Die; Classic Scallop Edgeabilities
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape

Enjoy The Ride

Bicycles are also very popular right now.  PTI recently released a bicycle stamp set and I debated on whether to get it or not....I decided not to because I remembered I had this little cute bike in another set.

I stamped the bike on white cardstock, stamping it at the bottom since I wanted to put a large sentiment on the top of the card.  The bike is colored with Copics.  For the wheels I adhered two metal adhesive brad tops (a bargain find in Joann's clearance section!).  I added the little swirl behind the bike to give the illusion that the bike is moving.

I stamped the sentiment on white, die cut it with a rectangle nestability and placed it on a layer of Pure Poppy cardstock.  I used black for the card base because it helped bring out the black in the sentiment and on the bike.  The sentiment is perfect to use with the bike!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Everyday Button Bits, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Frog Hop
  • Paper:  PTI True Black, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  R29, N4, 100, W1
  • Tools:  Standard Rectangle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Metal Dot Adhesive Brad Tops

With Sympathy

I keep seeing more and more cards that are all white.  I'm not sure if it's a trend or I'm just noticing them more.  But I do like the look of them.

I used white cardstock for the card base and impressed it with woodgrain.  I die-cut the fern and placed it on top of another piece of white, attaching it to the card with foam tape for dimension.

I die-cut the banner and stamped it with the sentiment in black ink.  The banner is also on foam tape so it's even with the fern.  I added the gold ball because the card looked like it needed just a touch of color.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Peaceful Garden
  • Paper:  PTI White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Memory Box Large Fern Die; PTI Double-Ended Banner Die, Woodgrain Impression Plate
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Gold Ball

Happy Autumn Birthday

We've had a touch of Fall weather here the past week and it's put me in the mood to make a few cards with leaves!  I know the cooler weather isn't going to last, but it's nice to know that summer is almost over!

For this card I stamped leaves in red, orange, green and yellow inks on Rustic Cream cardstock.  After I completed the leaf stamping, I ran the image through the Cuttlebug with a stitched mat die.  It was adhered to a card base of Orange Zest cardstock.

I used another piece of Rustic Cream and die-cut it with a smaller stitched mat.  I stamped the sentiment, placed it on foam tape for dimension and put it slightly off center on the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Leaf Prints, Autumn Hills
  • Paper:  PTI Orange Zest, Rustic Cream
  • Ink:  Memento Tangelo, Dandelion, Love Letter, Bamboo Leaves, Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Lil' Inker Stitched Rectangle Mats Dies
  • Other:  Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Age Is Just A Number #2

A while back I posted a card using this set for a male.  Well, I believe in equality so here's my female version.  haha

I used Black cardstock for the card base and added the flower pattern paper.  I really am stepping out of my comfort zone this week with my pattern paper use!

In black, I die-cut the shape with Labels One nestabilities.  I stamped the sentiment in Versamark, sprinkled it with white embossing powder and heated it with my heat gun.  Next, I took a dauber with a bit of white ink on it and lightly rubbed it on the black cardstock to give the appearance that chalk was not completely removed from a chalkboard.  I adhered the black onto pink cardstock and placed the image on foam tape.

I die-cut the flower layers in a deep pink color, curled the edges and put the 3 layers together with a silver brad.  The bottom of the card looked too empty so I wrapped plain white twine around it, tied in a bow.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Amuse Eat Cake
  • Paper:  Nicole; DCWV; Recollections
  • Ink:  Versamark; Colorbox White Frost
  • Tools:  Labels One Nestabilities; Spellbinders Rose Creations; Heat Gun
  • Other:  Zing White Embossing Powder; Brad; Foam Tape; Twine
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

b a b y (Scraps)

Don't we all have a ton of leftover scraps from making things and don't know what to do with them?  Well, here's a card that uses just scraps (other than the card base).

I used white cardstock for the card base and added the patterned "it's a girl" paper and a strip of dark pink.  I used a punch to cut out the lighter pink squares, die-cut "baby" in white cardstock and adhered the letters to the squares.  The squares were placed on foam tape for dimension.

I tied a white ribbon around the card to complete it.  I just realized I didn't use any stamps on this card!

Card Details:
  • Paper:  Hot Off The Press; Bazzill; Coredinations
  • Tools:  PTI Block Alphabet Lower Dies; EK Success Square Punch
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Ribbon
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

celebrate!

Is this not the cutest stamp?  This was a free set with a $20 purchase from Taylored Expressions - once I saw the stamp set I knew I would be buying something from her!

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a layer of blue and brown polka dot pattern paper, rounding the right hand corners.  I stamped the truck on white cardstock and colored the image with Copics.  I die-cut the image with deckled nestabilities and placed it on Blueberry Sky cardstock.

I die-cut the banner, stamped "celebrate" in blue ink and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  Since I placed the truck image on the right side of the card, I decided to stamp a bigger ice cream cone for the left side of the card.  I colored it with Copics, fussy cut it and placed it on more foam tape.

I sprinkled a little glitter on the ice cream cones and tied Denim twine around the spine to finish the card.  Anything with ice cream reminds me of my mom - she sure does like her ice cream!  haha

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Taylored Expressions Summer Love; Heidi Grace
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Blueberry Sky, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Teal Zeal, Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  E31, E33, E57, B41, B45, G12, R20, R27, C1, N4, RV0000
  • Tools:  PTI Fabulous Frames Die; Deckled Rectangles Nestabilities; Corner Rounder

Grand Slam Birthday #2

I was looking through some of my 12x12 paper and saw this baseball pattern paper and knew it would look great using my 7th Inning Stretch stamps!

I used Soft Stone (the solid stripe in this paper matches it almost perfectly!) cardstock for the card base and added a layer of the baseball paper.  I die-cut the hat, gloves, bat and baseballs and stamped them with ink.  I added a "P" to the hat for the Phillies, since the recipient of this card is one of their biggest fans!!  The glove is on foam tape for a little dimension.

I cut a strip of white cardstock, stamped the sentiment in grey ink and matted it on Pure Poppy cardstock.  I added another baseball on foam tape to balance out the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI 7th Inning Stretch; Studio G
  • Paper:  PTI Soft Stone, Pure Poppy, White Stampers Select; Me & My Big Ideas

Happy Birthday Washi (CAS #30)

Talk about a quick card to make!  If you haven't tried using Washi Tape yet, you really should.  There are so many colors available now that the possibilities are endless with what you can use it on.

I used Orange Zest cardstock for my card base.  Orange is not one of my favorite colors but I seem to always like my results whenever I do use it.  I have 4 different color packs of Washi Tape from Target and pulled out the 4 striped rolls for this card.  On white cardstock I placed the tape diagonally across the card.  The excess tape is simply wrapped around the back of the white cardstock so there's no need to cut it!

I die-cut the banner in white, stamped it with the sentiment and placed it on foam tape for dimension.  This card is a little crazy on the eyes looking at it....sort of a psychedelic look to it!  lol

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Sketched Shapes
  • Paper:  PTI Orange Zest, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Sketched Shapes Dies
  • Other:  Washi Tape; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

A Cup Of Good Wishes

After I made this card, I didn't know what type of card to make it!  I was wondering "what I could use a cup of good wishes for" and decided it would work as an anniversary card??  Well, that's what it is now!  haha

This uses a new set I bought from Amuse called The Perfect Blend.  I used Kraft cardstock for the card base and added a pretty layer of pinks and browns.  This is one of my favorite color combinations!

On white cardstock, I stamped the coffee cup in brown ink and colored it with Copics.  The beans and sentiment were also stamped in brown ink.  I die-cut the image using Labels 4 nestabilities and cut another in Hibiscus Burst to mat the white.  The two layers were placed on foam tape for dimension and adhered to the card.

I wanted a little sparkle on the card and used a sparkle pen on the steam from the cup.  I tied a pink ribbon around the card as the final step.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Amuse The Perfect Blend
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, Hibiscus Burst, Stampin' Up
  • Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Rose Bud, Angel Pink
  • Copics:  E31, E33, C1
  • Tools:  Labels 4 Nestabilities
  • Other:  Ribbon; Foam Tape, Clear Star Jelly Roll Pen
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Gratitude

I'm still low on thank you cards and need to continue to make them.  I was so happy with the way this card turned out - the soft colors just look so pretty together!

I used Fine Linen cardstock for the card base, using Card Edgers on the right hand side on just the top portion of the card.  I added a layer of this pretty, soft, flowered pattern paper.  Honestly, this is a pattern paper I never thought I would use!

Next I die-cut the flower using Lovely Layers - the flower is cut with Melon Berry and Fine Linen cardstock.  I stamped the veins on the flowers and leaves and added the Scarlet Jewel center to the top of the flower.  The gold "brad" on top is a faux brad.  I placed the entire flower on foam tape for dimension.

I cut another strip of Fine Linen, stamped the sentiment in brown ink and tucked it behind the flower.  This has to be one of my favorite cards I made this year!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Lovely Layers, Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI Fine Linen, Melon Berry, Scarlet Jewel; Glitz French Kiss
  • Ink:  Memento Rich Cocoa, Rhubarb Stalk; Brilliance Pearlescent Beige
  • Tools:  PTI Lovely Layers Dies, Card Edgers #1
  • Other:  Foam Tape; Faux Brad
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

With Sympathy

My Watercolor Wonder stamp set was sitting next to me on my craft table and I wondered what it would look like if I used one of the paint strokes as hills.  Time to experiment.....

I used Dark Chocolate cardstock for the card base.  On Vintage Cream cardstock, I stamped the "hills" in two colors of green ink.  I stamped the trees in brown ink directly on top of the hills and added the sentiment at the top of the card.  It seems like I tend to always put the sentiment on the bottom and needed to change it up a bit!  haha

Since this card looks masculine, I tied jute around the card threaded with a wood button.  I really like how this turned out!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Watercolor Wonder, Masculine Motifs, Botanical Silhouettes
  • Paper:  PTI Dark Chocolate, Vintage Cream
  • Ink:  Memento Bamboo Leaves, New Sprout; Brilliance Pearlescent Chocolate
  • Other:  PTI Wood Button; Jute
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

happy birthday sailboat

I saw so many cards on Pinterest using the Moving Forward stamp set from Stampin' Up that I had to get the set!  Thank you Jill for ordering it for me!

I used Spring Moss cardstock for the card base.  I added a vertical strip of Enchanted Evening cardstock and a horizontal strip of dark blue chevron, matted with Blueberry Sky cardstock.

I die-cut a white circle, stamped the boat image and matted it on a scalloped circle of Spring Rain cardstock.  The bottom of the sail is colored with a blue Copic.  I wrapped jute around the card and placed the boat image on top, adhering it with foam tape for dimension.

I die-cut the clouds and randomly placed them on the card.  I added the metal star on the sail to finish the card.  This will make a nice masculine birthday card for any age!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  Stampin' Up Moving Forward
  • Paper:  PTI Spring Moss, Enchanted Evening, Blueberry Sky, Spring Rain, White Stampers Select; Amuse Chevron
  • Ink:  Memento Nautical Blue, Pear Tart

Happy Birthday To You! (Scraps)

A few weeks ago I posted a card using leftover scraps from my PTI cardstock - I was going to throw them away but just couldn't do it!  This is another card I made from those scraps!

The strips were already cut so I just had to pick out which ones I wanted to use and put them in the color order I wanted.  I used white cardstock for the card base and adhered the strips.

I die-cut a circle in yellow and another one in white.  I stamped the sentiment and placed the circles on foam tape for dimension.  I could call this a CAS card, but it did take a little bit of time to pick through and organize the strips and adhere them to the card!

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Flower Fusion #9
  • Paper:  PTI Plum Pudding, Raspberry Fizz, Spring Moss, Spring Rain, Lemon Tart, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Standard Circle Nestabilities
  • Other:  Foam Tape

birthday wishes (CAS #29)

Sometimes it's fun to make a quick card, giving no real thought about what you're going to do.  I only knew I wanted to use this button stamp set and just played with it a bit.

I used Kraft cardstock for the card base.  I used my Scor-Pal to made the embossed lines on three sides of the card.  I stamped the sentiment in purple and black and the buttons in purples and brown.  I stamped the black thread on the center of the buttons to match the "wishes".

My last step was tying Orchid twine around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bits & Buttons, Wonderful Words: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Kraft, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Lulu Lavender, Toffee Crunch, Tuxedo Black; VersaMagic Purple Hydrangea
  • Tools:  Scor-Pal

Welcome Little One

I feel like I've been making a lot of boy cards recently, so time for a girl!  This card was inspired by one I saw on Pinterest, unfortunately I can't remember by who, since I would like to credit them for the idea.

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of pink and a layer of white, embossed with a Swiss Dots embossing folder.  I die-cut a pink square and placed a strip of the pattern paper along one side and additional embossed white on the other side.  I stamped the sentiment vertically for a different look.

I die-cut the elephant in the matching pattern paper, stamped the outline of the elephant on top and placed it on coaster for support.  I wrapped Honeydew twine around the top, tied a bow and placed the entire image on the card with foam tape for a little dimension.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Bitty Baby Blessings
  • Paper:  Recollections; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Bitty Baby Blessings Die; Corner Rounder; Standard Square Nestabilities; Cuttlebug Swiss Dots Embossing Folder

BIRTHDAY Wishes Pinwheel

I am so excited with my latest find in the craft world -  Lil' Inker Designs!  This company has some of the cutest dies and I especially like the ones with stitching around the edges.  I will definitely be getting more of their stitched dies!

I used Raspberry Fizz cardstock for the card base.  I picked out the double sided pattern paper I wanted to use for the pinwheel and used part of it on the bottom of the card and Vintage Cream cardstock on the top.  Notice the stitching around the edges??  That's using Rectangle Stitched Mats!  It adds an embossed stitching around the edge!!  I die-cut the heart border and placed it where the two papers met.

The pinwheel is made with their Mini Pinwheel die.  It's so easy to make.....you die-cut 6 petals for the pinwheel.  Each petal has two holes in it.  You stack the 6 petals and place a brad through one hole.  Next, you fold the paper over to create the petals, placing the other hole on the brad and secure it.  It's not hard to do at all!  Here's a tutorial from Lil' Inker Designs that shows you how to do it.  I added the button and twine on the top of the pinwheel, placed it on the card adding a straw for the handle.

My last step was die-cutting the Stitched Sentiment Flag - this also has stitching around the edge!!  I stamped the sentiment and placed it on the card with a little piece of foam tape under the right side of the banner.  I wanted it to look like the banner was flapping in the wind.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Wishes Come True
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, Vintage Cream; K&Company
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Heart Border; Lil' Inker Designs Rectangle Stitched Mats, Mini Pinwheel, Stitched Sentiment Flag
  • Other:  Queen & Co. Straw; Martha Stewart Twine; PTI Raspberry Fizz Button; Brad; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Happy Anniversary

Let me tell you about my Michael's deal on this washi tape.  How does 3 rolls of coordinating washi tape for 29 cents sound?  Yes, I said 29 cents!!  They had a bunch of 90% clearance bins and there it was!  And you know I looked through all the bins to find any additional bargains, and did find a few more things I could use. haha

I used Raspberry Fizz cardstock for the card base, layered with black cardstock.  I placed the 3 strips (the hearts are on washi tape with a white background), leaving space for the sentiment.  The sentiment is stamped in black ink.

I die-cut the birds:  the die is just one bird; I cut two and flipped one over so they would be facing each other.  I placed them on foam tape for dimension right on the raspberry washi tape so they appear to be sitting on the tape.  I die-cut the tiny heart and adhered that on foam tape too.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Beautiful Butterflies
  • Paper:  PTI Raspberry Fizz, True Black, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  Memory Box Nestled Bird; Martha Stewart Border Heart Punch
  • Other:  Reflections Washi Tape; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

Look Who's Turning 8

This is for a little girl who loves purple.  I decided to use Elizabeth Crafts for her card and since the cupcake I chose to use had stars on it, I thought I would make stars the theme of the card.

I used a light purple cardstock for the card base and added a layer of white cardstock and purple pattern paper.  Next I made the cupcake and will repeat the steps how to do it.  First you peel off a sticker and place it on double-sided adhesive paper.  When you peel it off, the outline of the cupcake looks like unfilled stained glass (picture just the black outline on the cupcake). You fill the sticker with a special micro-fine glitter, rubbing the glitter into the adhesive until it's nice and smooth.  Once that was done, I colored the cupcake with Copics.

I die-cut a variety of stars in purple, layered two of them and placed the cupcake on top with foam tape.  The "happy birthday granddaughter" was made on the computer.  I die-cut the banner and stamped the sentiment on it and added the 8, on coaster for support.  I put Kaylei's name on one of the stars to personalize the card.

I added gems to give the card lots of bling and tied Lilac twine around the spine.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Big Birthday Wishes; Framed Out #6, Simple Alphabet
  • Paper:  Recollections; Colorbok; DCWV
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Copics:  E15, E31, R37, V9, V15, Y13
  • Tools:  PTI By The Numbers Die, Sketched Shapes Die; Star Nestabilities
  • Other:  Elizabeth Crafts Designs Cupcake; Gems; Twine; Micro-fine Glitter; Foam Tape; PTI Coaster

You Are Always....(CAS #28)

I really like having large sentiments on the front of the card - it really sends the message right to the recipient!  I know I've use this particular stamp quite a few time so I'm getting my money's worth!

I used Hawaiian Shores cardstock for the card base.  On white cardstock, I stamped the sentiment.  The border around the sentiment was made using one stamp, stamping 4 times to create the full border around the sentiment.  I got that idea from Dawn McVey!

I placed the image on foam tape for a little height and added the sequins.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments: Birthday, Boutique Borders: Birthday
  • Paper:  PTI Hawaiian Shores, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  VersaMagic Turquoise Gem; Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Other:  Sequins; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"

HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Can you believe it's August already?  That means half the summer is over and getting closer to Fall!  Yippee!!!  Well, it is still summer and this makes a perfect summer birthday card!

I used white cardstock for the card base and added a layer of flip flip pattern paper.  I cut a strip of the diamond pattern paper (which is the flip side of the flip flop pattern) and backed it with a strip of Aqua Mist cardstock.  I die-cut the banner and stamped the sentiment.

I placed foam tape on the back of the Aqua Mist strip and adhered it to the card.  I tied two different colors of twine around the card...Mandarin and Pink Sorbet...to finish the card.

Card Details:
  • Stamps:  PTI Stylish Sentiments:  Birthday
  • Paper:  Imaginisce Banana Flip Flop; PTI Aqua Mist, White Stampers Select
  • Ink:  Memento Tuxedo Black
  • Tools:  PTI Bountiful Banners Die
  • Other:  Twine; Foam Tape
  • Card Size:  4.25" x 5.5"
